I also noticed that shanks and Ben are wearing sashes around their waists could this be why Luffy rocks one now?
Lol maybe. I think it looks pretty beast. Imagine Usopp wearing it, he would look so badass

Really enjoyed this, but not enough to make me overlook the fact that it could have worked as a really good sequence of five filler episodes.
thanks for posting DL links! Japanese classes sure come in handy.
Coby was so cool. He still needs a voice change though.
Just watched it and I really liked it!
Coby was very impressive in this special. I literally said "Holy Shit!" when he pulverized that giant circular structure into pieces.
Too bad Helmeppo didn't get a chance to show off. :(
Also, the ending credits seemed very lazy. They used the old original 4:3 scenes when they've reanimated them countless times in HD.
Seems like Toei was rushing to get the special finished.

Actually, he was wearing it for a whole time:
Wow how did i miss that….?
And has the Episode of Luffy been subbed yet?
No…You likely won't se it subbed until three months from now just like with Episode of Nami. It's a Special, it doesn't take priority over the Episodes for fansub groups.
Oh lawd that Kizaru portrait in Bilic's room, it would look great in mine.

This is silly. We have Funi for the episodes. They should make specials and movies priority.
I agree personally but that's just how it is. Plus for groups like K-F I know part of it is providing a "definitive" translation superior to FUNimation's. Which is why they put out subs of stuff like Movie 8 over four years after FUNimation released it.

Remember that not everybody can view the Funi subs. Fansubs are mostly for people in other countries. Plus, the Funi subs feel a little rushed at times (this can probably be blamed on Toei though).

Let the European fansubbers sub the episodes, and the Americans sub the specials and movies. I thought there was more than one group doing this…

I only know of two English fansubbers. Kousei and Yibis (For the latest episodes). Not sure if there is anything other than that.
One should do episodes, and one should do specials/movies.
One should do episodes, and one should do specials/movies.
This would be ideal, but fansubbers compete for fans, and therefore all try to do as much as they can.

This doesn't make sense either. If you're competing for fans, wouldn't it be a win to put out something the other fan subbers won't put out, but everyone wants? That forces you to watch their work, because its the only one available.
Hmm. Was hoping there'd be subs by now.
And seriously, three months is just ridiculous.
spanish sub is out, just to let you know
this was subbed by The world of kiran fansub
ass file for the raw
the eng sub is out.

does anyone have a subtitle file?
Well aside from thousands of little plotholes and Nami and Robin looking utterly ridiculous, it wasn't that bad.
I really liked Bilic. He had a cool design witch, like I said earlier looked like Dr. N. Gin from Crash Bandicoot and Piamon from Digimon combined.
!
I just didn't get why he kept bombing Hand Island. They just couldn't make a better reason for him being a villain? Anyway it was nice for a change to have an enemy who didn't simply rely on physical skills or a devil fruit to fight. Coby wasn't a complete pussy either for once. Too bad Helmeppo didn't do anything tough.
i have disappointing news.yibis has said they won't be doing it.
i think they are the better one piece fansubbing group,so that's bad.
Just watched it a few days ago.
Not Bad for a filler. I really like the flash back part. Miss that episode & it was done with a new animation too
But I surprised that Coby has power up. He's a lot strongger now.. I wonder how he'll deal with luffy if they meet again
Bumped because I only managed to find a sub now.
I really enjoyed this. It was a pretty good watch, the villain was interesting and well designed (I assume he might have been designed by Oda as well ? Couldn't really find any info on that).
The only real problem for me, unlike the poster above, were the flashbacks. It was really just the same stuff I've already seen, with nothing much new. I hoped they would have at least changed up the angles during the fight scenes and whatnot. Instead they offscreened Beckman taking down the bandits and we were left with just staring at Woop Slap and Makino.
Honestly these took way too much time, and seemed to have been tacked on just so they could justify calling this "Episode of Luffy". Because otherwise Luffy's involvement in the plot isn't all that much deeper then in any standard/filler plot. It's not like the whole situation is in any way analogous to Luffy's flashback/reasons for wanting to be a pirate and the whole Shanks incident, which would explain why Luffy would get more involved and also justify those flashbacks.
But with all that said, this was still great fun. And it just strenghten my desire for the anime movies to go back to a more simpler, fun route. This special proved it can be done, even with an hour to work with (when discounting the flashback scenes). This was just some good old fashioned filler adventure of old, and the people making the movies should realize that this is the way to go, because you can't hope to hype up your movies so much and using manga concepts and tie in-characters and situations, when it will inevitably end up dissapointing due to how they don't have the same amount of time the manga has.
Oh and one other thing: Coby needed to use Haki to figure out there was something wrong with Bilić ?
I can understand why, the man looks like the picture of mental health, clearly a guy I'd entrust firing a giant cannon to at will.
@No:
(I assume he might have been designed by Oda as well ? Couldn't really find any info on that).
Yeah, he was. There's concept art from Oda in Volume 1000(Z).

I saw that but didn't want to say anything without actually knowing it for sure.
Wish someone would have told me we've had subs since the end of January though :ninja:
