I've always seen him as the Hakurou of the new generation, he'll be a competent general and maybe even a bit better than the average general but because of guys like Shin, Ouhon and Mouten he'll never really come into the spotlight or grab any major accomplishments

Yeah, that's a better comparison. A somewhat competant by the book guy that can't beat quality generals on his own.
Geez, the coalition stuff just keeps getting tense. When one side seems to have gotten ahead, something happens to change the tides again. Just finished the Moubou and Kanmei fight, which was really cool, and just finished the chapter where you find out Karin's true intentions. This stuff be crazy, and I'm liking it.

Interesting chapter, didn't expect Chu to show up. This plan of the queen's is indeed turning into something fearful. Based Mouten is always a welcome sight.

Yeah, I feel it is hard reading the series weekly, it was better back when the scanlators cranked out 6-8 chapters a week. I think the main reason is that the weekly "cliffhangers" are lacking, often making me think, "chapter's over already?"

I always thought it was funny that people thought having cliffhangers in chapters make it better. Having cliffhangers here and there aren't a bad thing, but it mainly depends on how it's done. My main concern is just if reading one chapter of Kingdom at a time is going to be as interesting as reading it in bulk. Bulk usually helps, to varying degrees. Kingdom seems like one that's better with reading lots of chapters at once, or being able to read through an arc with not having to wait for the next chapter.
It seems that forced cliffhangers for each chapter seem to be more common in Shonen. I believe this is a Seinen series (I'm basing this off the more mature content compared to Shonen), so they probably won't be doing cliffhangers most of the time. This series seems to actually show the results, with the next chapter showing what lead up to it, instead of having a cliffhanger then showing what happens next chapter.

Well yeah, lack of forced cliffhangers is a good thing but I'd like to know when the chapter will end and that's usually helped by a cliffhanger (it doesn't even have to be the biggest one or anything). Maybe it's his paneling, he still uses small panels at the end of chapters when cliffhanger-like chapter endings have bigger panels (does this make sense, I may be talking out of my ass here).
Both 5000 men Units… The now are stationated under Generals, Ouhon with Rokuomi and Shin with Ryuukoku! Hopefully he will learn Shin some tactics, that is an interesting Opportunity for him.

Good chapter overall, but mostly just build-up to what's going to be happening going forth at this time. Always like to see Tou, cause I love his design, and we keep getting to see how he thinks and does things. Looking forward to the stuff he'll do as a great general.

! I think this was a pretty important setup chapter. Beyond setting up the youngsters as 5000 man commanders, it sets up Lao Ai as getting caught up in the power when he's clearly not suited for that sort of role. Up til now he's pretty much been the Queen Dowager's lackey which makes sense in the context of the story but would otherwise make his downfall kinda weird. Of course, real history also has him get super arrogant, but putting the wheels into motion helps when he inevitably slips up and screws his own state over.
I just want my Ousen arc already! -.-
was i the only one that thought about that lineup… Ryo Fuis 4 Pillars against Shoubunkun, Rui, Shi Shi and Heki... Shit Sei, you fucked up xD
On the other hand, Shouheikun kinda doesn't really seem to be pledging very strongly to Ryofui, Moubu's kinda just around because Shouheikun's stickin around but doesn't seem to care much otherwise, and Ri Shi seems to be kinda getting fed up with Ryofui's antics, so who knows

! Sei has Ai, three generations of Ai's family, and Sei's step brothers killed. Ryofui is stripped of his titles and positions and is banished to another state, eventually committing suicide out of fear of execution. The Queen is imprisoned in the palace until she dies.
In terms of what happens in the manga though,
! Sei has been painted in a very positive light in this series, so I'm assuming that his step-brothers are killed in the cross fire of combat instead of their execution being ordered directly. I for see him killing everyone else as historically recorded, though. There have been enough hints in the manga that people realize Sei will have to bloody his hands in order to unite the nation. He's already willing to kill his mother, so Ai and his relatives don't have a chance in hell.

It depends though. Sometimes the history is very brief on subjects, so you don't really know what will happen next (i.e. in XXXX year, Y thing happened). Other times it's very specific, but the author still takes creative liberties which doesn't change the actual history, but re-frames it to give us a separate perspective.
! i.e. Zheng's brother's revolt and subsequent death. Historically it's said he led a revolt and was killed by Zheng as a result. In the manga we see him as a tragic character who finally turned over a new leaf, but was killed by Ryofui's political games.
Since it's not only historical fiction, but also based on event from 2300 years ago, you can never be sure how events pan out for all of the charcaters (e.g. anyone who isn't on Wikipedia could easily die during this arc, or the next arc, and it could have serious consequences on the narrative but not the overall plot – let's face it, everyone already knows that Zheng becomes the first emperor of China, kills a shit load of people and pisses off whoever's left, builds the Great Wall to ward off the Mongols, and is buried in a giant tomb surrounded by those Terracotta Soldiers you see at the museum.

! Oh, you're right! I must've misread Zhao as Zheng when I was reading up on the history of the rebellion. The author changing that fact, to make Chengjiao die rather than be exiled changed the story significantly since Chendjiao's wife and retainers now work for Zheng.
Going back to what Purple Hermit said, reading the manga isn't exactly like reading the Occult since significant changes like this deviate from what is recorded in history.

Chinese and Japanese are very different languages. There's a far bigger difference between Chinese and Japanese than there is between English and French.
They partially share a writing system (where enough characters are used differently enough for it to be not that useful). Partially, because there's a complete alphabet (well two) in Japanese that doesn't exist in Chinese, which means that they're completely unintelligible. At most, you'd get the occasional word you recognize like you would in English and French. In the first two sentences that I wrote, I'm guessing most posters would recognize some words like "vocabulaire", "suppose", "problème", etc., but that doesn't mean that you'd understand what I wrote because they're two different languages.
And that's what they have in common. Spoken Chinese* is closer structurally to English than it is to Japanese.
*I use this term loosely, Chinese dialects can be further apart than English and French. Chinese words are for the most part monosyllabic, change the pronunciation of one syllable in every word and the result is obvious. Not to mention changes in sentence structure, vocabulary, etc.

But yeah. Mangafox Kingdom raws and spoilers thread is the best source on Kingdom spoilers I found and you should always check it first. Guy does a good work, so I do endorse it.

I didn't say they were indistinguishable. It was a rather ignorant oversight on my part. In the same way that at a glance I'd probably confuse anything written in Cyrillic or say the same way that Arabic and Urdu are indistinguishable at-a-glance for me. But that's not the issue here, the issue here is that rather than simply point it out (and ask for an apology if you're that way inclined) that's not what was done. It was done in a dick way.
Of course I'm sorry to anyone that was offended by the fact that I made a mistake by not paying proper attention and confusing Chinese with Japanese. Please accept my apology.

I was thinking either it was the queen's people because they're setting up for an invasion of kanyou on Sei's rise, but Ryofui is also an equally good option
