Warp staffs? I don't think I'm that far in the story yet.
Oh? What chapter are you on? I think you can get warp staffs fairly early, I don't have the game with me but I could check later. (I think as early as chapter 10)

I think the name's the confusion. I'm pretty sure Khainiwest is referrig to rescue staffs. I believe warp staffs were in other FE games and were totally different (they warped the user, not an an ally)
Do you mean Rescue staves? There is no Warp staff in Awakening. Unless you mean, Ward staff.
Rescue - Teleport allied units to the healer.
Warp - Teleport adjacent allied units to location.
Ward - Give unit resistance.
I'd say that this game really needed a Warp staff, but everyone in the game is already overpowered.
Oh I'm sorry, you're absolutely right, rescue staffs. Essentially what you do is clear out everyone but the boss, then spam rescue staffs until you level.
I'd say that this game really needed a Warp staff, but everyone in the game is already overpowered.
I disagree, Lunatic/Lunatic+ you're fighting units with max stats, and with broken ass skill combinations. The units are anything but overpowered, if anything it takes a lot of work just to make them competitive lol
Now that I got the time I'm going to attempt to beat this 3rd most difficult chapter, then I'm going to go all out rape on this goddamn difficulty.
Meh, need to find some more Master Seals. Wonder if I can do that through Reeking Boxes.
Leveling up Maribelle is such a pain in the ass. Should I just promote her at level 12 to Valkyrie?

Yes and master seals become purchasable at chapter 10 I believe, or 15.
I believe it's right after 12.

If you have any rift doors, you can turn those into master seals too.

Well, we're getting the demo in 6 days, get late hype, I suppose, hah.
Hey guys, I had a couple questions. Do you think I would be able to play through and enjoy this game without having played any of the other Fire Emblem games? In fact, I've never played any RPGs besides Pokemon (if that even counts). However, the trailer for this game looked awesome and I'm interested in playing. Would I be able to enjoy it without getting too confused? Or would you recommend a different game to play through first?

Yes you can, you won't get the old games references, etc but otherwise it won't affect the actual story that much besides the whole Marth thing, still if you can play an old one, are you a 3DS ambassador? if you are you can play sacred stones for free for example, otherwise either buy or try one in an emulator, watch videos, etc the gameplay is pretty easy to get into don't worry.
Ofc Pokemon counts as an RPG…lol even though the games have nothing in common, there some parallels between them, you recruit a lot of characters(catch a lot of Pokemon) and you promote the characters to stronger classes(pokemon evolving) but otherwise, one is a straight monster rasing RPG and the other one is a tactical RPG.
And yay we finally get the demo next week .
FINALLY. beat chapter 2 lunatic. Now off to chapter 3…although with a level 10 avatar and frederick it's considerably easier. I just have to luck out on avoiding luna/counter spammage which can take hours of hard resets
Anyone doing lunatic+ challenge? I actually beat to chapter 11 but I mismarried chrom so I had to restart :/
I found out the hard way that having Chrom with just a C level support with any of the marriageable females causes him to be married to whoever that is. I wound up having to pair Fredicrick up with the offending party:SUMIA Which wasn't my original intention.

You should have no issue. This is one of the easier Fire Emblems in the franchise (outside of Lunatic Mode of course). Just go Easy and Casual Mode to experiment. Just know that every Fire Emblem works like 'Classic' mode when you play.
If anything, the other game references will probably interest you in playing the other games. Take your time and have fun. If you ever feel confused, the game has a pretty decent tutorial. And of course, you have this thread to ask anything with a shitload of people who are constantly playing it.

Ugh, Sumia… Why does that bitch only have four Supports? And I have to waste the slot for one of four great male characters just to get her daughter: Chrom, Gaius, Fredrick and Henry. Why couldn't she marry Stahl or something?
Poor Sumia. I don't know WHY she doesn't get more supports. She got Gaius in my game. Next game I'm taking Chrom, so I guess she'll get Frederick. Eesh.
Stahl became a Paladin. Holy crap he's single-shot killing everything. When did Stahl turn into such a beast? I've got two Master seals left, so I'll have to make some hard decisions soon in terms of level ups. I've got plenty of Second seals left though, maybe I really should reclass some characters even though they're already high level.
My only issue with Stahl is that he's often to slow. So I tend to just have him go Calv -> Myrm -> Sword -> Paladin so he can pick up in both speed and strength.
Well, my copy finally came in the mail. The question now is, how am I going to balance playing this with playing Final Fantasy Tactics.
Give Final Fantasy Tactics a viking funeral.
Well they do try to make Sumia the "main" love interest for Chrom, so they make it harder for you to pair her off with someone else. I don't think anyone else has such restrictions.
But Sumia is terrible in contrast to Cordelia (who also has a crush on Chrom, yet for some reason can't Support him). If you had to pair him with Sumia, it'd have to be like: Make her a Dark Flier, learn Galeforce before chapter 13, put on her on the bench for the rest of he life after she's learned it.
This is coming from someone who loves the Pegasus Knight class.
Also, Norne Wireless content came out recently. I love that character.
My only issue with Stahl is that he's often to slow. So I tend to just have him go Calv -> Myrm -> Sword -> Paladin so he can pick up in both speed and strength.
His speed has never been an issue with me. Maybe I've just been lucky with his level-ups. And his attacks are so good lately that his speed isn't a concern right now.
Well they do try to make Sumia the "main" love interest for Chrom, so they make it harder for you to pair her off with someone else. I don't think anyone else has such restrictions.
Only if you're a Male Avatar. If you're female they actually kinda want to make you more the main pairing. Which, if you think about it, kinda makes sense. As a male character you're total bro's, cause you're the heroes. But if you're male and female, well, you easily turn into boyfriend and girlfriend.
Every Fire Emblem game gives you two cavaliers at the start, and one will be focused on strength and defense and the other on skill and speed. Stahl is the former for this game, though I must have awful luck with Sully because Stahl is outdoing her in just about everything given equal levels.
I must have terrible luck with Stahl then. Cause he never excels at anything until I class change him.
Sully turns out pretty damn good every time.
Yup. Sully is great. She is even greater when I paired her with Vaike. Greatest badass couple ever. When I recruit their daughter I'll have the badass family.
Tharja's definitely going to get one of my master seals. I'm gonna need me a Dark Knight.
Been…stuck on chapter..for 6 days...losing..sanity
I think Stahl's growths tend to lean more to the Great Knight class more then the Paladin myself, as he is the stronger of the two cavaliers.
Also, on that note, I find it strangely ironic when you remember the Akaniea games had like 15 Cavaliers and 5 Paladins, and this game only has two and one pre-promote!
I wasn't going to keep Stahl a Paladin, I wanted to make him a Bow Knight.
Beat Chapter 12. Woohoo! Almost lost Libra a couple times though. Phew!
Now it's on to some upgrading and leveling for Panne and Nowi. I also got Virion and Cordelia's C support. Hilarious.
Victory.
At chapter 16 and getting my ass kicked…I was hoping to be able to get inigo but I need to buff up my characters. I'm planning on buying a couple hundred rescue staffs to power level up my avatar to god level. Maybe some others.
whistles Made Cordelia a Dark Flier. Then looked at her magic stat and saw I need to sprinkle some Spirit Dust on her.
I just realized too that I am having HORRIBLE luck when it comes to Gregor's stat levels. Why can't the guy get more than like 2-3 stat gains per level?!
So I been trying to get the physical copy of this game and I can't find it anywhere so I want to know if this game is worth buying digital? How long is the story mode and how is multiplayer in this game? The last fire emblem games I played was on the GBA and I really enjoy it.

It's really good.
Story mode is pretty short, technically 27 missions. However, there are an additional 23 side missions available, most of them providing an extra character. There is also a lot of DLC, currently nine missions released for the US, and more coming. Most of the DLC missions provide a character from previous Fire Emblem games.
That's single player.
For Multiplayer, you have two options:
1. You have Streetpass combat. You are allowed to set up a team of ten units for your Streetpass. When you pass another 3DS with a Fire Emblem Streetpass, that player's team will show up on the game's map. You can choose to buy items from them or fight them. They will be controlled by AI.
2. You have Wireless connection, where you can connect two 3DSs wirelessly for combat. You can do co-op missions that are available to all players free for download. I'm not sure if you can fight each other, but I'm pretty sure.
Is it worth the download? Absolutely. Great game.
Not to mention all the challenges you can fight on the map when they pop up or when you summon them using a Reeking Box. Very helpful for reclass grind.
Speaking of recalss: Woo! Finally got Olivia out of Dancer, into Myrridion! Now if only her stats didn't suck . . . .
Sound good to me. I guess I'll be downloading this when my next paycheck comes in.
Well got to 14 on Lunatic so can now recruit some children.
Gonna get Nah right now. I married Libra to Nowi, and that was not a wise choice in terms of skills. Libra has a very shitty selection of skills.
It doesn't look like it will turn out too bad though. I will bring over his Renewal skill. Thus Nah will have:
Wyrmsbane
Quick Burn
Slow Burn
Lifetaker
Renewal
With both Lifetaker and Renewal, I figure she should stay alive like no other.
Was trying out this neat combination for Severa.
Bowbreaker
Tomebreaker
Axebreaker
Swordbreaker
Lancebreaker
That way she will have +50 hit and avoid versus every possible weapon in the game, besides against Dragons or Taguels. But through my first playthrough, I learned that no need to worry about enemies of them. Now fancy Ingis, Aether, Lethality galeforce, ect stuff. But I think it wil be neat to see most enemies having like 0% hit chance on her or something. Also was going to make her a Dread Fighter, so she can switch to many different weapons and thus further increase her hit/avoid in terms of enemies by having the triangle advantaged weapon when fighting.
edit: Holy shit, just went into Paralogue 16 for Nah and wow there is like double the amount of enemies hard had. I mean at this point I'm used to seeing everyone having silver weapons and B level magic, but still the amount of guys is daunting to see. Well lets see how this goes. Wanted to get Nah right away because that spot lets me buy Second Seals.
Renewal is a good skill. Only issue is that Nah is best with Nowi/Kellam. Her defense is ridiculous when those two are her parents.
Still, you really can't screw up your characters all that much anyway, so it's all cool.
Up to chapter 6 now and I'm really lovin' this game.
I love how open and free the game is, what with the overworld map and the opportunity to level up your characters with sidequests, bonus matches, and the Revived.
One complaint I have though is that the pairing/romance doesn't seem as fleshed out as in previous games. It kinda cheapens the character relationships when they can hook up with basically anyone.
Hahaha. I played Chapter 14 yesterday. Was going along nicely until Lucina came along. That was nice until after the chapter finished and I realized: SHIT! I didn't finish collecting skills from Olivia!
I looked up the wiki, and apparently Lucina inherits the last skill her mother learned. Olivia is currently a level 3 Myrmidon. headdesk It would take a loooooong time to get her to Dark Flier and get that Galeforce. Is it worth it?

what difficulty?
If on hard or easier, i say don't bother.
I beat hard easily and didn't have galeforce for Lucina.
Besides, doesn't Lucina join AFTER chapter 13. So you already got her if your able to see chapter 14. So if you saved after beating ch. 13 your screwed already, she on your team.
Man I love the dreadfighter class. It's so goddamn bulky and sweet looking. Currently almost done with lucina, still trying to decide what skills to put, (galeforce/Aether/rightfulking are givens), its the last two that are bothering me. I could do Lethality, mixed with Aegis, or Aegis and Sword/lancefair. Or maybe just both. I have access to all the possible skills she can get so I can toy around with it.

No, I saved beforehand, I can redo the battle (guess it was chapter 13, not 14, whoops). Will be annoying, but I can redo the battle. I just want Lucina to have a better inherited skill than Avoid +10. Is it the same with Inigo, that he inherits the last skill his mother gained?
Also, I noticed something . . . . since Chrom married Olivia, in the Supports menu they're already all the way up to S . . . . does this mean I'll never see any of their support conversations?

At that point, I'd probably settle on either Vantage or Lethality, which shouldn't take you all that long to grind to. Lucina can get Galeforce on her own with Olivia as her mother.
You'll have plenty of time to get Galeforce before you have to pick up Inigo.

Indigo is a paralogue that you can bypass until you are set, so no worry there.
You probably are screwed if this is your first playthrough on seeing the support convo's for Olivia. But once you beat the game, you unlock support conversation theater thingy. You should be able to rewatch them all there. So after you beat the game you can see what the C, B, A, S convo's included. If you have already beat the game before, then just exit and go and look at it now.

My first complete playthrough I had Lucina have Aether, Rightful King, Pavis, Aegis, and not sure. Can't remember what last one was.
It was not the cliche galeforce, lethality or other ones people think are gamebreaking.
It probably was Swordfaire I would guess. Not sure if who you married allows you to get Pavis since it requires general. Hmm, thinking on it now, I ain't going to be able to get her Pavis this time around. Damnit, I was planning on that. I took fro granted last game I had Avatar marry Chrom. Didn't have to worry about what carried over when she could basically become any class.
Edit: Phew, just noticed Sumia can become a knight, and since kids can be any class parents can, I can still get Pavis.

I stuck with lethality and aegis, the swordfaire/lancefair didn't give her enough boost to take on most of the lunatic+ guys. Her weakness is resistance, but lethality has a 25% activation rate, which mean's statistically 1/4 units will die without so much as a wince.

I like to build my characters more roleplaying like than to being gods on the battlefield, thus why I don't give everyone who can galeforce or lethality, ect. I realize they are probably better moves to ahve than the ones I keep, but I just like roleplaying.
Speaking of roleplaying, been working on support convo's for the last couple days and trying to get every character to get all their supports up to A ranking. WOW, if you don't do this you are really missing out on this game. There is so much stuff you learn about each character through support convo's. You learn their past, their dreams, their friends, family, ect. It's just crazy how much stuff I missed out on in my first playthrough by not doing all the supports.
I'm also only on Lunatic right now. Come Lunatic + mode, I may be doing what sounds like a lot are doing and will have more people with Galeforce or lethality.
edit: ugh, fail number 4 just now on Paralogue 10. Damnit Severa, why you so weak. Hell why my whole team so weak. Only Nowi is able to take the brunt. Everyone else it seems has a 50% chance of being hit with like 30 damage. Very scary sending anyone to fight. Sure they can kill people, but they can also be easily killed.
edit 2: god damnit severa. Clearing it out all good and she randomly runs next to a wall that an enemy can hit her from range. WHY, there were so many spaces open that she could have stepped to. Where she went made zero sense. And of course the enemy is doing like 30x2 damage to a like 40 hp severa. Man i'm pissed. Fail #5
edit 3: phew, apparantly 6th times the charm. Had to basically safricife a flying unit to keep her safe. Luckily they had 1 hp left so didn't lose any unites. Scary putting a flying unit in range of rexeria or silver bow. Specially since paired up, there is always risk of you killing them, and then meaning someone else can attack you because enemy spot is vacant. Especially since I was paired up with people that i married the whole battle, so like 80% chance of helping

?! What sacrificing units?! HOW UN-FIRE EMBLEM ESQUE
For future reference, for the children, you need to use rescue staffs. Cynthia who is sumia's daughter is actually on the enemies side so you essentially have to keep out of her attack zone until you clear enough units to make a pocket to hide her in.

For the most part I'm not that worried about skill inheritance, I just really like Galeforce. I also don't want to grind for skills THAT much. the eugenics project would only take place if I was doing Lunatic, which I highly doubt. Maybe if I do Hard, though.
Damn straight, you want the convos.

I didn't sacrifice as in they died. I just threw them in dangers way. Like I said they had like 1 hp left.

When you beat the game, I recall there being a support library. In fact if you save on a separate file (for example two chapter 9's on your load screen), you can s rank the entire characters options then delete the file, itll save.

It' really only necessary for the later DLC because it's that intense.
