Because I can already tell that this is going to need its own thread now.
Damn you and your early release date, Europe!

Damn Europeans. They're supposed to get everything ages after everyone else, yet now they occasionally get awesome games like this first:ninja:
Any other reason aside from HD and 3D that I should get this? I already have Masterquest still on the Gamecube.
rubs game
How about it being the general Zelda thread? Obviously when Skyward comes out later it saves making a new topic.
Anywho. Game is amazing as expected. I'm getting ready to go to to the 3rd Dungeon. Been trying to hunt down the postman/running man on Hyrule Field to sell him the Bunny Hood but can't seem to find him anywhere :/
I feel sad that I didn't notice ReDeads wore masks (which is in turn the Spooky Mask) till now.

Ah. For some reason I assumed that got merged into the Wii/3DS etc thread.

Not really:
I hear navi doesn't talk as much though, so best version right there.
I've read a few reviews. Pretty much all 10/10s and 9/10s. They say Nintendo's been very careful about how they're redoing the graphics and they made them a lot more detailed and nicer, not just higher resolution. Plus the bonuses like Master Quest with the mirrored course, the boss rush mode, and the altered Water Temple have made it a good modern representation of an old game that was great in the first place. Plus the reviews are saying the 3D works great with things like Hyrule Field and Death Mountain and all, and the controls are improved. The Ocarina has a permanent touch screen button plus there are two slots for more items on the touch screen in addition to items on the x and y buttons. Also they've said it's smoother with the higher framerate.
I'm sure a lot of people will get it just to see the original game with updated graphics, and that's probably the best part. It's really appealing in that way. But that on top of the other stuff looks like it'll be awesome. Just a couple more days.

Seems to be about the same to me. XD
I love all of the small things in the game. Like how Mido angrily stomps around and the loafer builders have became even more camp (discrimination much nintendo?) Some of the chars look quite a bit different. For the better. Like Anju.
Personally I've had the 3D on the whole time. It's pretty noticeable and makes it feel quite a bit different.
Hopefully mine will arrive tomorrow, then once again I'll be humming saria's song without realising it.
Who am I kidding
I never stopped.
It's already been released in Europe?
I have to say I am a bit more hyped than I thought I would be. I own this game three times over (the original and the two GCN rereleases), but there are reasons to be excited about it on the 3DS. It will be my first 3DS game, it has better graphics (they seem to be looking a bit better than the original screenshots showed), and a portable 3D adventure Zelda game. That's what got me the most excited, finally a proper 3D Zelda game on a portable. The two DS Zelda games just looked weird. Although I played Phantom Hourglass and it wasn't bad IMO. I'm just happy to see a real 3D Zelda adventure game on the 3DS. This along with the other games (a completely new 3D Mario adventure and a new Luigi's Mansion) have made me really happy for the future of this console.
So yeah, I can't wait to get it. I've only been playing DS games on my 3DS so far.
Hey, somebody remembered my topic. ^_^
I figured it had just been forgotten and that somebody would create a new one, I was shocked that nobody did. Seems like interest in Skyward Sword is very low at the moment.

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't like to know anything about a zelda game until I play it. So all I've seen is the artwork and a few snatches from E3.
How long did the original game generally last? Kind of wanna know how much i can expect out of this when i get it tomorrow.
I got the original as a Christmas present and was still playing it in January.
Though that might just mean I wasn't very good at it. Never touched a guide though.
The game definitely has some good mileage to it. Especially the first time through. Even more especially if you include master quest (which baffled me in the first dungeon the short time I had a chance to play it). It could take quite a while very easily.
I remember doing so much the first time through (especially on the child segments) even allowed me to discover stuff like getting to the top of the Drawbridge.
Now tho I kinda feel like I'm always rushing through :/
I think I went through about 5-7 hours thus far and only just getting to the third dungeon.
I think out of the two cases I prefer the non gold one. It just feels so natural and beautiful. The Gold case just doesn't feel right to me at all. Mainly the sticker ruining it.

We've been getting the games 2/3 days sooner them the US, atleast the ones that are released…
I heard some stores here in Portugal had Ocarina on Monday, I just didn't bother buying it and now I wasn't able to go an buy it today XD.
Next Monday I'm going to get it.
Thats true lately, probably because Nintendo likes to use certain days of the week to release games, but I remember a time when it could often be around a year after we got a game before Europe got it

I'm getting bot ha 3DS and this game for my birthday next month… I am super duper excited...

You've never played it?
Heheheh, good luck on the Water Temple.
I never beat the Water Temple on my own, my brother beat it.
Is it silly if I harbor a secret 10 year old fear of getting to the Water Temple when I buy OoT 3DS
Because I legitimately don't know if I can do it. It'll be all new going in. Exciting.
Also since we never owned an N64, we never beat OoT. This will all be new to me.
@Holy:

No it isn't. Not when it's this:
!
As I said newcomers, GOOD LUCK.
^Oh fucking shit.
I found the Water Temple to be kind of fun after I had beaten the game enough times to have (finally) memorized the layout. But I do still remember the first time I played through it. I will admit that tears of frustration were shed. Finally had to rely on a guide to help me through it, something I hate to do. But it was either that, or go crazy.
Incidentally, this game will be the primary reason for which I intend to buy the 3DS. My poor N64 was lost to the ravages of time years ago, and OoT is probably the game I miss playing the most on it. I want to touch that magic again.
I loved the water temple, and I never really had problems with it.
That said, they claimed to have fixed it for the 3DS version.
GOOD LUCK.
The Water Temple was a good challenge, albeit cumbersome. I remember not realizing that there was a pathway behind the treasure chest that contained the Longshot.
I bet the Water Temple is easier when you can make cognizant thoughts.
Fuck my childhood
The Water Temple is all about looking into obvious locations for keys before proceeding towards a new area. Easiest temple in the game(I'm exaggerating, but it is simple). The only temple I get stuck in is the Forest Temple, mainly because I'm always forgetting something that's been staring at me in the face for the longest. It's sorta like doing the Water Temple for the first time and completely missing the hole behind the Longshot chest.
Edit: In Master Quest… It got nerfed.. really badly.
I don't remember the water temple being too confusing, when I think of the water temple I mainly think of you-know-who being there.
Fuck the Water Temple. God hated it with a passion and I had to ask my best friend to beat it for me on the 64 version.
Favorite temple from OoT was the Shadow and Light Temples. Also got my copy of the 3DS version :
!
Game looks amazing and actually revamped and alot easier to control IMO.
So far just finished the 1st dungeon.

So basically, the Water Temple has been… watered-down?
Aha. Ha. Ha.
@Mr.:

Nice pun, but no.
They just made it easier to play the Ocarina and equip the Iron Boots (at least that's what I've been told), thus making the dungeon considerably less tedius.
Yeah, no changes to the dungeon itself as far as I'm aware.
I don't remember it being too bad. Just the constant putting on and taking off of the boots got pretty tiring.
I dont remember the Ocarina version much. But the Master Quest version was easy.
I do remember having to restart the game the first time I attempted the Water Temple however. Just couldn't find one key,
Edit: Is it just me or is that the Mario mask in the Happy Mask Shop? Behind the mirror?
Edit: Is it just me or is that the Mario mask in the Happy Mask Shop? Behind the mirror?
Probably. I know he had a Mario mask, among others, in Majora's Mask.
Haha, the mask seller always has cameo masks from other games and pop culture. I believe he has an Elvis mask around there as well.
Anyway, the water temple frustrated the hell out of me as well. Granted I played the game when I was 11 or 12 so I wasn't always good at keeping my eyes peeled, especially for that path behind the chest. Now with the inventory screen at the bottom screen, it should make things simpler.
Did anyone else have trouble getting the Bigoron Sword in the first game? I really hated side quests when i was younger, but that was at least entertaining.
Just got off the phone to nintendo, they say the soundtrack problem is to do with the website, not stock, and that there'll be some kind of update when it's working again, so hopefully that's true.

So you mean all those people that got told they are getting discs aren't?
How did you get that from what I said.
The error on their website isn't derived from a lack of stock but from the website not being able to handle the amount of requests. I'd assume anyone who got through the whole thing before it stopped working is fine.
well you said its not the problem of stock and it's the website. I just assumed it was letting people get them when there wasn't any left. Not heard of any other problems for it so.
Right now the website won't let anyone complete the registration for the soundtrack, giving a vague error message when you try to enter your address.
oh I got that. It was because in one box you have to put the addres and in the 2nd box you have to put the street. Worked fine after.
I'm honestly surprised they still have any left.
No, that's a different error. You get an error even if you fill in both correctly.

Twice, and with that terrible grammar.
No-one can complete the form right now.
Only Zelda game I played was Minnish Cap. Fantastic game though I never finished it. I managed to beat the big bad taking everything I got only to end up having to fight another round with him and I lost heart after that when I lost…
Now you know that ALL main bosses in Zelda games have MULTIPLE forms… remember that while playing Ocarina too :P
You've never played it?
Heheheh, good luck on the Water Temple.
Well i heard as much from a friend of mine, says he also hated the Black temple or something as well, but it'll be worth it for a game that is praised to be one of the best ever.
I got the game now, now i just need my 3DS back from my friend…
Black temple= Shadow Temple? If so, then yes that temple is creepy as hell!
Looks like you can still win the Lon Lon race with Dobin and not Epona lol Although you are forever trapped in the ranch XD Always worth trying imo
