So it's 12am UTC right now, meaning that most of the Europeans and pretty much all of the Amearicans on the board are either at work, university or school. There are 200 users online. Right now Arlong Park loads the pages lightning fast. About 0.5 seconds for a category or Forum and 1 second for a thread. Weird enough the threads keep showing the loading images in my Firefox Tab bar for quite a while after everything that's visible has been loaded.
For the past three days in the late evenings {~10pm UTC} when both the Americans and the European are online, for me the forum slowed down considerably to loading times between 5 and 30 seconds, with about 10% of the pages failing to load on first try. Now this could be my own internet conection, since I'm not using it alone but I've seen a number of complains on the web talking about vB4 being too slow. So I'm thinking it's probably not me being slow. Stuff like this: http://www.freelancer.com/projects/vBulletin/Vbulletin-forum-running-slow-need.html
So in case this is a general problem and not some weird stuff on my side of things, maybe it's worth thinking about a bigger server. I have no idea how much Cosmic is paying for the one we use right now, so I don't know how much more a bigger one would cost, and if it's realistic to get that money together, but yeah… Thoughts?
