Well with no comic shops really in area, the only I way can read Marvel or DC is buying the novels.
I did ddl The Avengers: The Search of She-Hulk book, last night. and damn it was great read. Just seeing Jen going apeshit on everyone was awesome because even through it somewhat out of character, but with her losing control of powers is somewhat made this story arc a good read.

Kai- if you liked that, give Marvel Zombies 3 a read, it's my fav. of the series and it has a pretty fun story. I hadn't read the first 2 but you may like them as well.
Oh and the Oz comic from Marvel is pretty good, the art is done by Skottie Young (sp?) He's done art for other series as well which looks a tad different than in the Oz books.I didn't read it though I did flip through it. Not really a superhero kind of guy.
I got my Absolute Sandman today and goddamn is it huge. It's about as thick as a plasma TV and about the size of a PS3  . It has a case around it and looks like it's bound in leather . Guess that's why it costs $99, though I got it for $70 .

American comic continuity is so confusing… Btw RuNa, empty your PM box. I'm trying to PM you (not about this, about the Wii).
So, is there a torrent which has everything I need? I have a comic shop, but I think buying will make it more confusing and a lot more expensive. (I think he sells those super thin paper-back comics you use to get for under a dollar back in the day for a good $5)
Done. 94% full now.
As for the torrent, you are best off getting one that is grouped by event. That way, they are placed n chronological order and you won't need to do any research to find out what comes next.
I know it'll be weird at first, however, I think that if you want to get started on current continuity you should start with House of M.

If you don't have a demonoid account, let me know.
I'm mostly a DC guy but I have a good grasp on the main storylines of the marvel mainstay series up to current. I don't really like the current direction of X-men, though, so I haven't read it since 516. Not really following the X Necrosha storyline.

Avengers stories, and to top it off, it's drawn by Oliver Coipel X3

Wait a minute…
...is this what I think it is?
-
Finished reading amazing spider man issues 1-24
its amazing there were villains such as the lizard, Vulture, The living brain and more
i liked the Fantastic 4 crossovers too
( some paper near me put reprints in every weekend years ago.. i got 1-18 and 20-24) -
Just finished Preacher. So good.
! When I first got to the ending I didn't think it was going to be good, it just seemed like Jesse revived out of nowhere. But then it got progressively better. Cassidy asking for his and Jesse's survival kind of came out of nowhere, at least to me. Then the Saint of Killers killing God was awesome. I loved him just sitting in God's throne after he did. And Cassidy not being a vampire anymore.
Overall just a fantastic comic book. Every single character is likable no matter what their faults. It has fantastic humor and the plot is remarkable. Definitely a must-read.Some Saint of Killers awesomeness for those who don't mind spoilers.

Well on the bright side, there were like 60-ish issues released for Spidey over the past 2 years which is the equivalent of 4+ years of Spidey comics :P
@Kai- If you liked Preacher, may I suggest giving The Boys a read? It's by Ennis and has as much human emotion you may find in Preacher.
Do not approach Crossed unless you want to be scarred for life… -
The Boys is a title I buy and I don't buy much by way of American comics these days. However the Boys is top notch, especially if you don't like costumed superheroes. I'mlooking forward to buying the 4th and 5th volumes when my loan arrives.

Hmm someone I chat with told me that the image may actually be to promote a story showing the divorce/breaking up of MJ and Peter rather than them being back together @3@
-
Damn it to hell, Quesada.

Once you've finished Sandman, next you should read Lucifer.

I would so prefer that. I HATED their marriage and I HATE Mary Jane. I know they'll eventually get together again, but I was hoping for another 400 issues (exaggeration). It's a really nice drawing, but if Pete and MJ get together again, I'm ending my subscription.

Ya know I'm oddly reminded of a 2part documentary of sorts featuring Stan Lee where he mentions the Stacey family; how the author after him killed off Gwen Stacey to which Stan contacted and asked him why he did it because it makes it look like they had something against the Stacey family :P The documentary is called Stan Lee's mutants, monsters and marvels; you can find torrents/DL links for it online.

-
Hm, The Boys does sound interesting. Anyone know where I can read the first issue? Like a torrent or something? I don't want to buy it without knowing if I'll like it or not.
And Lucifer's like a spin-off of Sandman isn't it?
Edit: Haha, they have an Arkham Asylum in the Sandman universe .
-
From the looks of it Marvel is going to rerelease The Avengers: World's Trust and The Avengers: Red Zone . In the upcoming months. That means there a good chance, that The Avengers: The Search of She-Hulk (Its from book series World's Trust and Red Zone is from) to be rerelease soon.
I'll probably get the books down the line, since I want focus on getting the She-Hulk Books caught up (I just ordered Volume 4).
-
Just read the first chapter of The Boys and it's pretty good. A while ago I never thought that American comics were this filthy . Thought they were all super heroes saving people and talking like weirdos. I'm gonna have to pick this one up.
-
@Kairouseki:
And Lucifer's like a spin-off of Sandman isn't it?
Yup.
@Kairouseki:
Edit: Haha, they have an Arkham Asylum in the Sandman universe .
Sandman universe is the DC universe.
-
Planet Hulk animated movie will be released to DVD next month, just a heads up.
Also-
-
I'm glad Cyke booted Professor X from the X-men haha. I mean Charlie buggered off from them after all.
-
Well he did do ridiculous shit over the years. His recent stories in X-Men Legacy were pretty good though.
@Kairoseki- Damn my russian is shitty XD. When I read The Boys I knew EXACTLY what I'd get: sex, foul language and gore; but sex mainly, and I wasn't too surprised when the Homelander did what he did :P
-
Heh yeah although I traded my X-men legacy issues I was getting bored of it.
As for The Boys, well it is a breath of fresh air lol, although the blood and sweaty sex limit the freshness somewhat :P I find it quite innovative, I hve been told a good one along the same lines is the Authority.

^ I love the scene when Captain America shows up and says, "Looks like you could use a hand," in Maximum Carnage. It was something I read while really young and Carnage and his group were so terrifying and evil that every one was becoming affected, even Peter. I was actually so drawn in and scared and the moment Cap showed up, I knew it'd be all right. One of my first real emotional reactions to comics, and one of the most well-done scenes of all time.
Cap appearing in that Spidey story sounds so random…:wassat:
Found my trade of Maximum Carnage so I scanned the scene I was talking about. The lead up to this is that Carnage and his group defeated all of Spider-Man's allies, who were being filled with rage against him, and that rage was hurting them just as much as Carnage.

^Nice
@Friend- Well I liked those issues and the recent ones with Rogue were great too.
Also-
Mangeto truly is an invaluable asset to any team -
^I haven't been reading lately, what team is that? I think Nightcrawler and Colossus were on Excalibur last I read. Who's bindfold girl?
Oh, and Cyclops- owner of a jetpack was awesome.
Glad you liked the Cap-Spidey scene.
-
Oh well I'm glad you liked them! To be fair my tastes in comics are fairly picky these days, even more than manga. I wanna see the Seige! I want someone to take down Osbourne- I really hope I can read a comic summary without reading the phrase "media darling" soon.
-
@Syan:
^I haven't been reading lately, what team is that? I think Nightcrawler and Colossus were on Excalibur last I read. Who's bindfold girl?
Nah Excalibur's been disbanded for a long time I believe. This is from the latest X-Men Legacy (part of the Necrosha story), where Cyclops sends Nightcrawler with a team to investigate Miur Island. The girl with the blindfold is…Blindfold. She was introduced in Astonishing X-Men IIRC, and has the ability to see the future...but tell it in vague messages that at times make no sense whatsofriggin' ever ^_^;

hi everybody
i completed Ultimate Spiderman and Ultimates and Ultimatum
US-M is the best spider-man series in marvel
Ultimates was very good at the start but got flat at the endand i was going to read Ultimate X-men but after reading ultimatum seem like a useless thing to do
Ultimatum was like they put UX-M and UFF and flush them on the toilet(literally)
but i think it improve US-M now that thee human torch and iceman moved there -
Dude protip; NEVER
EVER
let Loeb
stop you from reading anything; read Ultimate X-Men you'll enjoy it for the most part ;3
…and the whole toilet flushing is literally, what many would say, what Loeb did with the Ultimate-verse :P -
Loeb is a great batman writer but on Marvel is nowhere near that good
his Hulk issues are not that good eitheris really weird that Marvel just cant do good events, it just cant
Ultimatum was 5 issues of ultimate character killing each other for no good reason
and the dead of Thor and Valkyrie were of the worst, completely pointlessand about U X-men, i keep hearing good things about it specially about some characters like Dazzler and Wolvering but since both die at Ultimatum is like going to the movies already knowing the ending
anyway i might read it eventually
right now im by the half of the Preacher and starting Sandman -
Loeb is a great batman writer but on Marvel is nowhere near that good
his Hulk issues are not that good eitherErrr….his Batman work is OK...until you start dissecting some of them...
is really weird that Marvel just cant do good events, it just cant
Ultimatum was 5 issues of ultimate character killing each other for no good reason
and the dead of Thor and Valkyrie were of the worst, completely pointlessBecause bloody gorey dramatic deaths ARE BADASS! Mind you Loeb just wanted to include a mind awe-ing scene for the most part in each issue which he did :P
and about U X-men, i keep hearing good things about it specially about some characters like Dazzler and Wolvering but since both die at Ultimatum is like going to the movies already knowing the ending

Ummm dude, I knew how Planet Hulk was gonna end since I started reading it and that STILL didn't deter me from enjoying it. Heck I reread it from time to time and still enjoy it.
…and there are a lot of movies whose endings I've known beforehand (doesn't need to be spoiled to me), but I'd enjoy it non the less.
Now in the case of Dazzler and Logan in UXM, who cares if they end up killed?
When you read UXM, you'll find some fun stories featuring these characters which you could enjoy again and again, and then when you look at how they got offed...you'll just lol.
Anyways, you've convinced me to reading UXM now, so I'll prob. start collecting it soon XD
Thanks ;3 -
The Boys is friggin' brilliant. Personally I lost all interest towards Marvel comics somwehere after the year 2002 or 2003 because it all became so ridiculous. The Boys is an excellent parody of superheroes in general and the plot very interesting.
Lucifer, though, I always felt was a really heavy read. Lots of dialogue and intricate plot makes it hard to follow at times. The mythos and surroundings were excellent, though, so I read it all the way through.
-
I might get sometime soon Deadpool vol 1 Seecret Invasion, but only if it is worth reading (that goes same w/ vol 2 & 3)
So Loeb's comics of Marvel isn't that good?
-
Errr….his Batman work is OK...until you start dissecting some of them...
have you read The Long Halloween or Dark Victory or Hush
those are some of the best Batman stories ever made and they have been extremely influential to the current state of Batman
thats something that ppl should respect
for me TLH andDV are the real Batman Y2 and Y3but true he sucks with hero teams, his Ultimates were mostly a prelude of Ultimatum and he got rid of Pietro and Wanda when they started getting interesting with all the incest and stuff
Because bloody gorey dramatic deaths ARE BADASS! Mind you Loeb just wanted to include a mind awe-ing scene for the most part in each issue which he did :P
not just Loeb`s Ultimatum or even for the gorey part
Civil War, Secret Invasion, House of M, all of them sale good yet ppl and critics were against their results, as individual stories they suck, not to even mention as events
Siege started this week and it already gotten really bad reviews from criticsthat is not happening on DC
Blackest Night is extremely gorey but it have gotten great reviews and support of the fans, Geoff Johns have won several prizes for iteven Final Crisis was way better than Secret Invasion for me
Ummm dude, I knew how Planet Hulk was gonna end since I started reading it and that STILL didn't deter me from enjoying it. Heck I reread it from time to time and still enjoy it.

Now in the case of Dazzler and Logan in UXM, who cares if they end up killed?not the same thing comparing Planet Hulk with UX-M, you knew how PH was going to end cause it was going to led to WWH
and for the record i loved WWH, it was awfully drawn but the story was greaton UX-M there is nothing after Ultimatum, Profesor x died, nightcrawler, beast, angel, dazzler, wanda, wolverine, cyclops, etc it just got really really screwed
it even killed Daredevil and Dr Strange(no more Ultimate Knights reunion =(. )
and Loeb is going to write the Ultimate X comic so i dont know if i want to follow thatWhen you read UXM, you'll find some fun stories featuring these characters which you could enjoy again and again, and then when you look at how they got offed…you'll just lol.
Anyways, you've convinced me to reading UXM now, so I'll prob. start collecting it soon XD
Thanks ;3you are welcome
anyways as for reading UX-M it is not really high on my wait to read listand yeah i have a wait to read list
! the preacher
Sandman
Jonah Hex
Hawkman
GL v3
Morrison`s Doom Patrol
New Teen Titans
Batman Broken City
Ultimate X-men
! and i might add some to the list not even counting the comics i read on wednesday =P -
Loeb's "color" series in Marvel is really good. Loved Spider-Man: Blue and Daredevil: Yellow. Never read Hulk: Gray, though, and I'm still pissed that I got Captain America: White #0 a long time ago and still haven't seen so much as an announcement for the actual series to come out.
Loeb's Batman: Hush was great, and I love Jim Lee's art with a passion.
Ultimatum was fine with me. Yeah, it was major character genocide, but I'm fine with that.
Hank Pym dying- so? At least he went out heroically.
Wasp eviscerated by Blob- Gross and disappointing, but maybe she'll be revived by whatever the Jocasta project is (was that the name?)
Thor being left in the land of the dead- just a plot device to keep the strongest superhero from ending the story too quickly… and Thor's a god, he's not dead and will be back soon, believe it.
Cyclops- damn, that was cruel. Hated it, but they'll likely have Havok take his place.
Wolverine- I was so happy to see that. I like Wolverine a lot, but he's basically unkillable. Having him finaly killed to the point Magneto was breaking the iron in his blood stain shows how difficult it was. I think I saw an Ultimate line solicit of someon with the claws, who was that?
Daredevil- sucked he got such a shabby death, but he wasn't very important in the Ultimate U.
Angel, Dazzler, Nightcrawler, Beast, Juggernaut, mutant etc.- Sucks since they were some of my favorites, but there's plenty more mutant good guys to replace them, and most wouldn't have a chance with bigger names blocking them out.
Every villain who died- good. Plenty more villains to replace them. Only one I was disappointed in was Dr. Doom, since I was surprised Thing killed him so easily. Who knows, maybe it was just a DoomBot.If, however, Marvel just flips the bird to those groups and never does anything with them, that would be terrible.
Loeb's Ultimates 3 was pure and complete suck, though.
-
does anyone know what happened to baronzemos thunderbolts i stopped reading thunderbolts a while ago and now it seems everythings diffrent venom bullseye green goblin and of course now there the dark avengers i've been out of the comic loop for a long time so does anyone want to kind of explain whatt's happened since civil war ended with the x-men groups spider man thunder bolts fantastic four, i just want to get back into it but i don't know what's been happening
-

I got Captain America: White #0 as well and I can feel your wrath. It's been at least a solid year since anything's been said about it…
I love Loeb's Batman comics, my least favorite being Haunted Night, but even so that one was still pretty good.
Hush was great, except for the fact that I played Arkham Asylum and had read Hush's profile and found out who he was. D: but it was still a very good read. And also,
! It made me respect The Riddler more
.My favorite is probably between The Long Holloween or Dark Victory. I loved LH due to the development of Harvey Dent throughout, and I loved DV because it showed how well of a villian Two-Face can be.
I would love to see the next Batman movie be partly based off of DV.

Gotta disagree vehemently there. I've been uninterested by what I've heard of Blackest Night and hated Final Crisis. DC has had great cross overs in recent years, but they'd be Identity Crisis, Infinite Crisis and Sinestro Corps War.
I've loved all the Marvel events. I really like the way that everything from Avengers Disassembled to Siege has all been woven together in a large unifying sense. I know people were pissy over House of M killing a bunch of mutants, but it was a great story. Civil War was very enjoyable for me and it set the pace for New Avengers to be the heroes in the shadows team. I got a kick out of the scene where Daredevil, Hercules and Goliath were working on their fake secret identities. Secret Invasion was a fun set-up and good story. I liked the mistrust between the characters.
Maybe this is because I mostly read in trade format. I get the whole story in full, rather than cliffhangers and lost momentum.
-
and yeah i have a wait to read list
Do yourself a favor and move Sandman to the top of that list. It's just quintessential read for any comics fan.
-
I'm pretty much just trying to get many novels that I can get. Once I get She-Hulk caught up. I'll probably ether go focus on catching up on other series (ether its Runaways, Astonshing X-Men, or The Avengers). Since mostly collecting the books by getting the graphic novels. I do want to read the Civil War arc, once I get She-Hulk caught up as well.
I will say I did enjoy reading both Young Avengers books. Since its goes really well with a lot of the current events that started since The Avengers Disassembled(I still have read it, since I'm waiting for the rerelease of The Avengers World Trust, Red Zone, and Search of She-Hulk books new print to come out, since the new print is coming out in Feburary for World Trust, and June for Red Zone.) storyline.

avengers are definatly my favorite series, is she-hulk really good though i never read it to be honest, but now i remember i need to get up to date on young avengers and runaways two good series,
Never been much of a DC fan to be honest it's been marvel pretty much my whole life
does anyone know a site where i can read marvel online like all issues of a series not just a few
-
Yes, She-Hulk is good read from what I read so far (I only read Volumes 1 - 3 so far, waiting for Volume 4 to come in the mail, when my order of the new One Piece dvd comes with it).
I also never really cared about DC as well. I just find Marvel really interesting stuff. I been fan of the Marvel characters for years, but I just decided recently just to begin buying the books. I just started collecting the books back last May (I got Astosnshing X-Men Vol. 1 for my brithday). Now inculding She-Hulk Volume 4, I'll have 13 Marvel Books so far. Which isn't bad for my frist year of buying books.

.Not sure if you know or want to jump ahead in continuity, but She-Hulk is getting a big one-shot anniversary issue in March. Since you like She-Hulk, you might wanna pick it up.
Actually March has a ton of comics for the women of Marvel. I'm picking up the Women of Marvel one-shot and the Girl Comics mini. Should be fun to see She-Hulk kick Iron Man's butt in an arm wrestling match.

of all the Ultimatum
s deaths the worst were the one
s from the Ultimates
Hank was pretty much suicide on a really stupid way, he just couldnt grab a building`s column or something a hit away the dudes
Thor suicide over a character who wasnt even known or cared for and then she dies tooalso Dr Strange was a shame cause it could have gone interesting later
and the title you meant is Ultimate X

Hush was great, except for the fact that I played Arkham Asylum and had read Hush's profile and found out who he was. D: but it was still a very good read. And also,
! It made me respect The Riddler more
you know i had that same problem i discover who was Hush even before reading it, the story suffers a lot if you already know who is Him
and i loved TLH and DV, on TLH you have an idea of who might be the killer but its never confirmed, on DV i had absolutely no idea who the killer was until its reveals itself, i mean i couldnt see it coming
I also read the tie-in special mini of catwoman When it Rome, its not as good as DV but is a nice ride and it also makes you respect even more the Riddler
Im so glad that the Falcones are back in Batman
@Syan:
Gotta disagree vehemently there. I've been uninterested by what I've heard of Blackest Night and hated Final Crisis. DC has had great cross overs in recent years, but they'd be Identity Crisis, Infinite Crisis and Sinestro Corps War.

You liked Sinestro Corps War and you are not reading Blackest Night
what is wrong with you!!
you most beware their power!
now about the Marvel events
Civil War was ok but the end was terrible
House of M was A LOT of nothing, it seem interesting cause you might think
if things got back to normal maybe something of these will stay, like Gwen Stacy or the return of Genosha among some stuff but at the end it accomplished nothing other than changing the status of he X series
Secret Invasion was terrible from beginning to end, the only good part i can though of it was when Nick Fury Appeared with all the Secret Warriors the end was predictable in a sence that it was obvious that the Skrulls will lose big time and hat all the ppl from the Savage Land ship were skrullsas for Siege, i already read the first issue, this seems to be the more predictable event ever made on Marvel, at least it only last 4 issues =/
half of the first issue was just Norman telling ppl ¨we are invading Asgard¨ and the ppl responding ¨Are you high?¨, and the other half is a extended battle of the attack with 1 1/2 page of Thor being ownednow there is something i do like from the marvel events is the Frontline comics
you know that they tell the same crisis but from human perspective
I bought Siege Embedded and was more satisfied wih it than the actual event
Civil War Frontline and Decimation Generation X were excellent storiesDo yourself a favor and move Sandman to the top of that list. It's just quintessential read for any comics fan.
yeah is really not in order =/
also im at chp 30 of the preacher already, i like the story but I Hate the drawing :getlost: it look so ugly, the faces are so deformedI also never really cared about DC as well. I just find Marvel really interesting stuff. I been fan of the Marvel characters for years, but I just decided recently just to begin buying the books. for me DC > Marvel =/
Other than the fact that Marvel was cleaning out most of the Ultimate continuity since some of the titles weren't doing that good.
only for that they slaughter half the better cast of X-men and kill Dr Doom
what a stupid reasonatleast now Iceman and Human torch are now on Spider-man =D
-
also Dr Strange was a shame cause it could have gone interesting later
and the title you meant is Ultimate X
http://www.newsarama.com/comics/Ultimate-X-Teaser-Marvel-100107.htmlYou liked Sinestro Corps War and you are not reading Blackest Night
what is wrong with you!!Have they revealed whoever that was that said, "sigh Stephen," right after Dormammu popped him like a zit. Didn't the Ultimate line say that the Dr. Strange was like a showman more than a real Sorceror Supreme? Maybe they could bring in a real sorceror. His dad, perhaps?
Ultimate X. Yep, that's the one I saw.
Blackest Night just seems like SCW with more colors and zombies. I'll read it whenever the trade comes out. I don't read events by issue. From what I've heard, it seems okay, but nowhere near as cool as the SCW was. I'll give my opinion in like 6 months or however much longer till the trade is released.
