I second the person who says the Gigant Battle roster was lacking.
The game was kind of a disappointment to me after Jump Ultimate Stars considering Ganbarion developed both.
There were some improvements, but a lot of drawbacks as well.
Improvements (things Gigant Battle did better than JUS)
-Pick up and use items
-grab / throw enemies
-Stage design; the 3D backgrounds were cool
Drawbacks (things JUS did better)
-57 character roster in JUS vs. 20 character roster in Gigant Battle
-Only one attack button; should've had 2 attack buttons like JUS and set down arrow to guard
-Special attack system was too hard to execute; Also, shouldn't have characters start glowing for a few seconds before they execute a special attack
-No wifi
Other Things Lacking
-Stages; The stage design was pretty cool….but there are way too few stages when compared to JUS (40+ stages). There was no need to combine the entire east blue into one stage or throw Skypiea, Enies Lobby, and Thriller Bark together.
-Focusing on Marineford was a BS excuse to leave out characters / stages. There were far more stages / objectives to complete in JUS. They could have easily thrown in past arcs in One Piece. If this was truly "focused on Marineford", they would've included characters like Shanks, Marco, Jozu, Vista etc. I mean, look the "Marineford Mode" in UC SP is focused on that one arc and includes Marco and Jozu. So why, beyond sheer laziness were those characters not playable in Gigant Battle if it's focused on the same arc? It also focused partially on ID, so why couldn't Bon Clay, Daz Bones, or Mr. 3 be playable? What about Rayleigh from Sabaody? The "focused on Marineford" thing is just a worthless excuse imo.
-Character roster; Robin, Franky, Brook, Bon Clay, Smoker, Eneru, Lucci, Shanks, Moria, Mr. 3, Kid, Law, and Shiki should have been playable characters; Even Marco, Jozu, Vista, and Daz Bones could have had movesets.
Overall I give Gigant Battle about a 7/10....maybe a little lower (6.5/10). It wasn't horrible, but nowhere near great. Jump Ultimate Stars on the other hand is a 9.5/10. The only thing lacking in JUS preventing it from being a 10/10 for me is the poor AI that doesn't put up that much of a challenge.
As for this game, I really do hope it comes out in the US. I never played Unlimited Cruise, but really liked Unlimited Adventure. Not concerned with the loss of vs. mode. It was pretty bad in Unlimited Adventure anyway. Most of the characters don't have much of a moveset.
