It's like final fantasies. Each game is different worlds that share things like species (nopon), tropes (early game death monkey) and character names (Vandham)
The 2 means it's story focused like the first one, hence separate in style from X.
I'm missing 4 rares now only. So close.

Ah, that's a pretty helpful analogy.
The 2 means it's story focused like the first one, hence separate in style from X.
So in X, it was more hands off? I can't even remember what the plot was, save for "aliens attacked, people left in ship to make new earth colony" or what have you.
I think that I beat a very important boss by
! tossing them into a hole.
By complete accident.
Nice haha. I've done that one, by knocking a named enemy off a cliff after about 3 seconds in Leftheria. But not an important boss. I'm on chapter 6 still… so much to explore and do. I have over half the rare blades now I think, and I'm working on some of them while I do other stuff. Like Ursula and Agate. Loving the hell out of Zenobia but my god I need a list of all the named enemies and where they are. And I wish when I examined a tombstone it told me the name of what was there without having to resurrect to find out.
Tip for graves: if you resurrect one and run without it noticing you, it will vanish in a while, you could check them without fighting. Yeah, should have name and map pin, but there is the option.
And I'm also halfway with Zenobia, I'm stumped with one Lefteria monster, visited everything again and found no monster or grave.
I finished the game, and I'm back to get the rest of the stuff.

I don't know if this would be good for the game, but I want more data! The enemy compendium in x was a smart search away of being awesome, and now I don't have a way to differentiate a Lexos from a Taos (they have in common that they are big, they fly and they will kill you the first time you meet them).
Another issue with filter options, checking the accessories, I realized that while they are in the 3 rarities (common, rare and legendary), there is another rank of the skill, most notably with the nopon masks, that give extra agro at the start of battle, there is a "nopon mask" and a "golden nopon mask" with no way to sort them to be next each other. And these are the easy ones, the flat luck rings have no relation with their names, and I found out that the legendary that I had was worse than the common of the next version of the item.

Its anoying that the things that I love about the game are spoilers, so it takes more effort to praise it than to complain.
Still on chapter 7 now, with 80+ hours. It's just so time-consuming to try to do everything at once (sidequests, exploration, merc missions, increasing dev levels / buying shops, raising up the rare blades). Finally able to get some decent customization options for Poppi too but putting that off just due to wanting to make actual story progress one day.
As for the convenience factor, I'm expecting soon enough there will be a strong online resource (probably a Google doc) of combined knowledge where it will be easy to search quests, items, enemies, etc. Even if not there's a very high chance I'll just be Googling enemy names if I can't find them. I'm kind of surprised by the accessory thing. Sorting by type doesn't work? I do know it categorizes differently for fixed increase vs. percent increase but otherwise it seemed logical enough…
Unless I'm mistaken, the accessories don't have "by type", just the blade's and poppi's equivalents.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Yah, not mistaken, can't order people's accessories by anything else than chronologically, alphabetically and rarity.
Also, the spreadsheet is out, and the biggest thing that can help you, the secret for fast lvlup afinity:
! Force feeding the pouch. The fonsett village items give the most affinity, 21 for the noponcho and 18 for the foodstuff, specifically the stralu (meat) the oyster aspic (veggie) and the killifish (seafood), mix and mach what doesn't trigger any reaction, to save time and with my count it doesn't add any extra points.
By affinity do you mean trust? That's the one stat I can think of that you'd want to boost quickly to unlock levels on a lot of Blade affinity trees. Otherwise I'm not sure what affinity even means, other than in battle.
But man if it's around 20 per use then that means 500+ uses for some things.
Yes, it is trust. It's a slog, but you don't have to go all the way to 9k, just unlock a part of it, do that tier, and then feed again.
I calculate around 720 points per minute.
Finished the chapter 7 dungeon last night, and wow Monolith still knows how to stun with their artistic direction and world design but I am ready to state with confidence that Xenoblade Chronicles X is a better game. The shift back to a story focus makes the game worse because the story is dumb. And Rex is inferior to a good avatar character.
So? Is anyone ready for the next Legend of Zelda in the next 6 years? lol
I hate Ursula sooo much. This quest has been a slog and still I'm not done!
At least I'm getting 3 points each quest now.
I finished her quest and now I have this awful feeling that after the Uraya concert, you only need to max one stat, because I ended up in 92, 91, 99 or something like that to trigger the final concert.
Still haven't managed to pull the last 3 rare blades (light cannon, dark cannon and ice ball) even with 700 luck, and focusing on rare crystals or better only.
OTOH, I got every other rare blade to their trust limits, and working steadily on the affinity charts, and got a good setup to instantly ko anything below lvl 85, and should be able to go up in the food chain soon.
I also found out that the weapon arts max up at lvl 5 (or maybe 6?)

I pulled Ursula pretty late so I'm not even bothering with her quest. How long did it take you to finish?
A lot of time. I pulled her pretty early, and she hogged one squad for almost all of the game.
Yeah so sounds like I'm leaving at least one quest unfinished in this game…
I mean if you're going to do all the other content then you have more than enough time to passively do Ursula. Sometimes I just play Tiger! Tiger! while Merc missions complete Still missing some components I really want that are exclusive to the minigame. My intention is to make a Tora build that can more or less solo anything, and for non-superbosses I don't even need to control him. Though I'm still in chapter 9 lol.
I bet by now half of Foo's playtime has been Tiger Tiger and Ursula questing. I've gone to sleep multiple times constantly hearing "We are Ursula's New Groove!… and we'll do what we can."
I kind of want to focus on Tigger Tigger for a while, but other than the wind element haven't gotten a really rare part out of it.
That's funny. The only elemental core I've gotten is Dark, and I got 4 or 5 of them. Want Light, since it's exclusive. Also want more Master roles. It gave me like 4 Master Muscle in a row and now it only decides to give me worthless ones like Strike and Luck. The only ones that matter are Muscle (but I have more than enough), Tank (I have 0 of these), and Evasion (I have one).
I got Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for Christmas today and don't have to think about if i should buy it or not anymore. Thanks Santa!
First thing i did was install the japanese voice pack … not a fan of the english dub.
Got dark as well, but I'm not getting rare items, did you get perfect on 5?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Oh, if you press Y on the BUY screen of Poppy, you change to the SELL parts. Sigh.
Yah, I've been going at Tiger Tiger like for2-3 hours and all I've gotten is the Machine Slayer V and the Dark chip, and most of the things that I get are level I or III. Level 5 on normal, getting all chest and full life, haven't managed to get all the crystals there. Is it luck, or do I have to buy the lvl5 frames to unlock the posibility of even getting the Master versions?
Pokemon Ultra Sun is the only game I currently play on my 3DS. I bought a Nintendo Switch with a few games like Pokken Tournament and Mario Kart 8 yesterday after I got my nerf bars fixed. If the rumors are true about Capcom not releasing Monster Hunter World on Switch, then I have to stick with Arc System Works games to be released for Switch like BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle.

I'm like 125 hours in, on the last chapter, and have done more than half of the rare blade quests already. I don't think there's any way for me to stretch my playtime enough for Ursula… and it's such a massive pain micromanaging her merc missions that I'm willing to pass on this one thing.
I just want my last 3 rare blades without having to do stupid things to get them, like farming legendary crystals.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
BTW, can confirm these methods of extra override protocols (items to swap blades):
I don't dare release a rare blade, but I'd guess you'd get a similar reward.
I can't think of a Rare that's worth it when you can just do a rarity 4. I wonder though. Some nodes for Rares include quests and H2H's, so… what happens if you release them and re-roll later? Do those nodes just fill out automatically? Not that I plan on finding out.
Yesterday I opened some crystals after a looooong time of ignoring them. I used all my rare crystals, 60+ of them, and got nothing. Then I started on my 15 legendary and got one almost immediately. But now I have 10 of those left and I believe 6 Blades left.
I'm actually not that worried about farming legendary crystals because, well... Poppi's final form has some pretty ridiculous requirements at level 5 of the affinity chart and one of them is basically the same process as grinding for drops lol (constant smash combos on UMs, requires a bit of setup but Poppi can solo the whole combo). The one for specials is going to be a nightmare though. I can't see how many I have left because I haven't unlocked the layer yet.
Also I finally got my second Master Evasion mod and a Light element core for Poppi. Still have not seen a Master Tank, which I would really like a couple of. And an Ultimate Shield would be appreciated even though I can craft it.
I dunno what I want to do now, I've going with the 4th as PC, with Rex and the 5th as teammates, with her with the break-topple-smash, rex with break-topple-launch and the 5th with topple-launch, the AI messed up the smash way too many times but not the rest of the chain.
Nia and Tora's charts are almost done, and I'm like 2-3 blade quests away from finishing them all. At the very least Perun's (Ice Lance) quest is just beginning. And Korra, Electric Gloves, (who I personally dislike, not like Ursula that is a nice person trapped in a hellish quest, but actually dislike). And the wind gloves girl. Adeline written differently.
Still haven't reached the 90's so a few levels to go, and the giant gorillas kicked my butt.
Korra is the worst character ever.
I didn't knew the Avatar was in this.:P
"Always cute and fierce". I guess I'll have to send another fist user to the 5th. Ursula, or Adeline or … Nim? nah, she's also annoying.
Yeah I thought I hated Nim. Until I pulled Korra. Suddenly Nim seems pretty okay. Why would you send good healers to the 5th though?
Because Nia has enough (Boreas, Nim, Dromarch), and gauntlets have topple on the 5th. My 5th lineup is a mess, I gave him Ves thinking that she was Light, gave him Herald thinking she was Dark, gave him Sheba without thinking that he already had a cannon, and by that point, I already obtained the "Master Blade" and stopped giving much thought on roles.
I only have one rare blade left to get (Dahlia) and I've got a good party setup going that I really like, with easy access to pretty much all elemental orbs and topple, launch and smash all on Rex. I think I'm ready for endgame content (other than level wise, but that should be quick) but I'm just trying to wrap up as much as I can before taking on the final boss.
Got my last two Rare Blades last night. It really wasn't as bad as people made it sound. The last 4-5 of them took about 99 legendary cores probably, which were super easy to farm post-game (alongside other good accessories/aux cores/chips). Though I also opened a bunch of useless rare cores. Dahlia was my second-to-last lol.
Now time to grind out trust on a bunch of things… also aiming to S+ a few Blades T_T.
I've been sick all week and playing through XBC2 myself. It's a really good game. When you get to actually play it.
Jesus this thing has a lot of cutscenes. More cutscenes that critical gameplay. I timed the last 40 minutes of the game, moving along the story quest, and counted 5 minutes total of gameplay.
There's a lot to love about the game. Cool world design, an involved battle system, tons of optional content and more, but right now it's being bogged down by its absolutely terrible story pacing. It's a shame, since I was really enjoying the first few chapters, when there was a lot less story and more adventuring. Somewhere around chapters 4 and 5, I found myself spending more time grinding loot than actually trying to do the story, since at least the grinding was gameplay. I've learned to fear the little red boxes with the white exclamation points, since they're just warning signs telling me where the gameplay stops.
I've kind of stopped paying attention to cutscenes at this point. They're mostly worthless, anyways, with predictable character interactions and uninteresting politics hiding what might otherwise be a good story. It's made worse by how you can't skip through lines in them. It's not like my favorite RPGs are necessarily more dense with good writing, but I can at least move through it at my own pace and skip through lines when I get the point. Instead, we're stuck watching anime hotspring scene #2,453,291 just in case there's something important in it. Do we really need a cutscene every time we enter a new city? Can't we just figure out what's going on by exploring? Nah, that would be gameplay.
Not to mention that the cutscenes, themselves, contradict gameplay a lot of the time. A smaller example is how you're asked many many times to rest at an inn for a cutscene, but you can't actually use the inn during that time, so if you want to level up your characters you have to go to the inn after using the inn. The bigger one is the way cutscenes interact with fights, where often you end up curbstomping a boss and then being treated to a cutscene a second later about how the main characters can't possibly beat the dude they just curbstomped. I have no idea why the game keeps choosing to pit you against main villains at points in the story where you shouldn't be able to beat them, but it always ends up weird. They end up wasting full minutes worth of cutscene telling you how you lost the battle that you just won. It's ridiculous.
This game badly needed another editor or ten working on it. A lot of my smaller complaints boil down to the same thing, but on a minor scale, like how the game pauses on the blade affinity screen every time you unlock something so that your blades can say something that cannot be skipped. A similar thing happens with the pouch screen and the merc missions (which links back up with the affinity screen nonsense).
The more of this nonsense I run into, the less I actually want to push forward. I had to vent about it, since I really wanted to like this game, but by now I'm wondering if I'll even finish it. I'm a fan of RPGs, so I'm used to heavy story, but the ones I like actually have something to do between those bits. I don't think the side content mitigates the problem, since often times you have to run off the logical track to get there (the story says you should be stuck or waiting in one place, but then you're able to fuck off to another titan for a month to farm gold through salvaging), so you have to actively stop doing story to get there. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm not really feeling it.
No guys but XCX had this flimsy story that you didn't really have to pursue and most of the world-building had to be done through exploration and sidequests! What a pile of garbage. Take us back to a story-focused Xeno-game!
Said Direct rumoured to take place at January 11th.
Fire Emblem Switch news or go to hell.

Been playing a lot of XB2 recently, and this is definitely my biggest complaint so far too. I think the issue is during the earlier chapters you were almost required to explore large parts of Gormott, Uraya, etc. to get to where you need to go for the main story, but later on there's less traveling on titans and more traveling between them, which is always done via cutscenes. Like, I think the pacing could have majorly been improved in chapter 5 if the Vatican area was made the main part of Rex's hometown archipelago, requiring you to travel to on foot to get there.
I like the actual story so far, though. My only major complaint with it right now is that the two big deaths so far felt like those characters were just introduced to die, as they were barely there for one chapter each.
Fuck Dagas.
I spammed pouch items to unlock the affinity tree for every rare Blade and had them all nearly maxed from merc missions. I was just going about the process of manually filling in the remaining nodes (defeating Unique Monsters, completing character-specific quests, and crafting) when I finally got around to Dagas' quest, my final node on him. I'd been putting it off because Dagas is an insufferable prick. But hey I guess the game thinks I deserve some extra suffering because when you finish his quest it throws out his affinity chart and makes you start a new one, from fucking scratch. I thought I was done spamming the A button. I thought I was done having to hear another word out of this douchebag's mouth. Yay.
Overall though filling out the charts has been enjoyable. There are some great H2Hs and character questlines. Not looking forward to the remaining crafting crap though. I finished a few like Pyra's cooking and Vale's weaving but I'm still going to have to grind dumplings on Vess, ice sculpting on Dahlia, and desserts on Gorg.
Switch is the fastest selling console in U.S history.

I didn't fall for dagas' trap as I try to get the quest asap, and then grind.
I'm not advancing in the crafting ones as the menu is bugged and closes after each item is crafted, and is just way too annoying to do the full thing. Managed to do it for pyra and gorg before it bugged for me. The workarounds haven't fixed it for val or vess.
The menu closing is so minor compared to the rest though O_o. It takes 10x longer to collect materials, and if you're willing to spam pouch items hundreds upon hundreds of times per character then having to do it 50 times for crafting is basically nothing, even if it takes an extra few seconds each time lol.
Idunno. It feels way more annoying, specially because I've seen the faster way, and I was randomly locked out of it.
I think that I was lucky that I derived way too much pleasure from high field skills to get tons of materials. For cooking and deserts didn't need to grind anything. The salt and the silk bug got me halfway before running out.
Well I think I'm done with Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for now. I have all Rare Blades with their affinity trees maxed out, all quests done, all unique monsters done. I also re-assigned all the Blades to characters I think they belong on, and I have 20 leftover Overdrive Protocols so I can easily change my mind. I have a Tora setup where he can solo all superbosses within a couple minutes (and all Poppi at S+ with optimal gear), Mythra is also S+. Thought about also making a good solo build for the 4th party member but eh. It wouldn't be all that fun/fast to use on bosses.
At this point I'm waiting to see the details of the NG+ feature they said they're adding this month. If it's going to save over my original file I might not do it. Especially if I can't carry over all my Blades and affinity trees / items.
