@xan:
Okay let me start from the transfer news. The confirmed players Manchester United had bid for which got rejected were Sneijder, Ander Herrera, Sami Khedira and a late bid for Ozil. These are confirmed and official excluding the rumors and other stuff.
Wrong. We never confirmed bids for Sneijder or Khedira or Ozil. We did bid for Herrera, but naturally it was rejected, but Athletic have a reputation for not doing transfers. They always reject bids, unless you pay the release clause for the players.
You are believing any bs transfer rumors and that is your fault. Clubs and agents always plant stories to big clubs, just so their clients can attract better offers. If these rumours are true, then the Sneijder bid was not official, and we only inquired about him. Madrid were never going to sell Khedira, especially so late in the window after Alonso has gotten a serious injury and is out for a while. They don't have many options in that position. We declined Ozil when he was offered to us as we have players who can play in that position, not the other way around. That is if these rumours are true.
The only confirmed bids made were Barca and Everton which were turned down. The Herrera deal could not be completed in time though.
Not seeing where every club is rejecting us though. This would have happened to any club, not just us. You are making it out as if we are the only club that is being rejected, and that is just stupid. We rejected Chelsea's offers for Rooney, Arsenal were rejected by Liverpool for Suarez, Liverpool were rejected by Mkhitaryan to join Dortmund, Spurs were rejected by Willian to join Chelsea, City were rejected by Isco to join Real. This things happen all the time, ad is nothing new.
The transfer window has been below par for us, but not because we were rejected, but because we were acting like amateurs and looked clueless.
Coming to the coaches, do you think the players who have rejected the transfer bids mentioned above would have done the same if Ferguson was still coaching?
Uhh….Yes, because firstly its the clubs who accept or reject bids, not the players. After those are accepted, then we have to negotiate with the players. The problem here was not the choice of manager, it was the bids we made were low and not the estimation of the selling clubs. Even with Ferguson, the result would have been the same.
You have to accept the kind of pull Ferguson would have on any player in the world.
There is a small pull in these situation, but not enough to make much difference. As I have said previously, money matters, not the manager. Look at Chelsea and City, they were able to sign players even when they did not have a manager, so you are proven wrong. Also, managers nowadays are constantly getting sacked, and there is no guarantee a certain manager will stay with a club for a long time.
There have been cases where the player himself has put up a request for transfer just because Ferguson tried to get him to the club.
That must have been more than a decade ago, because nowadays these things just do not happen as already pointed out.
Doesn't it seem very strange that Manchester United have done very less in the transfer market this season?!
No it doesn't. We usually spend on a few players, but normally never make too many changes in a single window. Moyes did say that he needed two CMs to add to the squad and a left back, an that was all.
Wenger is completely different. Young players would love to come to Arsenal but the older players don't even consider it much even though they get a chance to play the CL.
Why is he different ?? Ferguson has also always favored youth, and has usually bought talented youngsters rather than already established players. Also, the reason that no established players consider Arsenal is because Wenger rarely splashes the cash, and usually goes with youth. This time he did, and he landed Ozil.
That is because of the pay and the lack of trophies Wenger can assure which Ferguson guarantees to some extent and Moyes is yet to prove.
The bolded is true. Arsenal have a wage structure that they do not break, so naturally the biggest stars will not go with a pay cut. But the bigger reason is because Wenger never goes for such players in the first place. This time he did try, and he got Ozil.
That is precisely the reason RVP and Nasri left Arsenal.
RVP left to win trophies, as he was getting older. Nasri left for a fat paycheck that City offered. City had not won anything either, not the same situation.
But then again, Moyes obviously cannot fill the gap left by Fergie and he has to prove this season if he could handle the pressure of managing a team like MU**.**
No one can fill the gap that Fergie left, so lets not single out Moyes. Neither Mourinho nor Pep could have filled that gap.
The same can be said about Pellegrini, as he has not won anything either. Again you are making it out as if Moyes is a new Manager who has popped up out of nowhere. He has been managing Everton for years and has more than enough experience in the league.
I am not a big fan of Mourinho or the way Chelsea used to play with him but he definitely holds a huge psychological advantage against managers when they play against him. The mind games and other underhand tactics that he is known so much for makes him a formidable manager. When it comes to tactics, he is still pretty damn good at it! I am sure you are aware that he was one of the top two candidates to fill in the seat of Ferguson in MU so obviously he has a very good reputation to manage any kind of club let alone a big club like Chelsea.
The only one who buys the mind games crap is the press and fans who haven't got a clue about football. Do you think the opposition managers care about what the clown has to say ?? They don't. The whole thing about mind games is something that is blown out of proportion by the press.
Yes, he is good at tactics, but so are many other managers.
And no, only the press believed he was a candidate for the job, Sir Bobby never liked him and had made it clear, so there was no chance of him coming here. He has a reputation of winning trophies and also of leaving clubs in a mess with his antics.
