No, you won't know everyone's character at the start, however, even if you did, it wouldn't matter, you may be Akainu and be a Townie and be Monkey D Luffy and Mafia.

No, you may not know your roles, lol, I will only randomize them and start making a setup that tries to fit in the theme when we have the 8 players and all are confirmed, I can't just make a single role individually not counting with the entire game, or it would end in a chaotic mess
Each "day" is 48 hours maximum, the day will end earlier if someone is lynched, although making the most of the day is advisable.
With 8 players, assuming the Town fails at voting someone scummy in the two first days and assuming the Town fails at avoiding kills at the first two nights, the game would be over at the third day for the Mafia (I can already spoil to you that there will be 2 mafias and 6 townies)Regarding the nights, as I said before, they will be timeless, meaning, they won't end until everyone has sent their PM, although I would like the process of sending PMs to be fairly quick, I don't wanna rush you, but I don't wanna wait 3 real life days to proceed with the game

Nice, we have 8 Players, all of them confirmed
Now, all of you should receive your roles, powers and allegiance soon (1 hour or 2 hours, about that), however, the game will only truly start at 4th August noon GMT time, meaning, in 37 hours and 16 minutes from this post. As I'l be very busy tomorrow dealing with some other stuff.I'l probably create another thread (hopefully, the mods won't get angry at that) for when the game actually starts, I'l put all the rules in that thread and make a nice Opening post far more informative than this one.
However, I'l just give the 5 main rules right now, because most of them can be broken as soon as I send the PM with the roles, lol–------------------------------------------------------------------------
Main Rules
(Bear in mind that they can't be enforced and they obviously won't be punishable, but please follow them to make the game actually fun)1 - Don't PM anyone about this game, especially players (alive or dead), only Mafia can speak about the game outside of the thread, and even then, its only between themselves
2 - Don't copy paste or printscreen the PM's you receive from me, please, you are free to paraphrase them (and fake them), but you may not copypaste them or printscreen them, for fairly obvious reasons
3 - Dead men tell no tales, please don't speak here if you're dead, wait until the end of the game.
4 - Sleeping men tell no tales, please don't speak here at night, you're still free to PM your Mafia Partner if you're Mafia, though

Do you have a set time for what you consider day and night?
I am 6 hours behind GMT, so if noon GMT equals the start of day, will midnight GMT count as the beginning of the night period?

As it was explained to me the rounds each last 48 hours and it becomes "night" once all 8 people have posted.

Not when everyone posts, but when a majority is reached (for example, in the first day's case, 8 are alive, so 5 is the majority, when 5 people are voting on the same person, that person is lynched and the day goes straight to night)

A colossal and mysterious boat, right in the middle of this wild climate..."What's going on?"
9 People are in the bridge of the big ship, they are all talking over another, some panicking, some trying to calm everyone down, and some just silently trying to find out what's going on
_"I was in my captain's ship, getting ready to pillage a village, I go to sleep and I wake up here, what?"
"What's going on? This is not cool at all"
"It is indeed weird…"
"Calm down, guys, calm down"_
In this ship there were those who were talking and those who didn't care, there was no one who was actually listening, so about 6 people were talking over each others, and about 3 people were looking around and noticing the dark scenery surrounding them, completely ignoring the weak-minded.
_"Ho Ho Ho, it seems that you have all finally awoke"
A creepy, raspy and devilish voice, the source of it was mysterious, echoing through the whole boat.
_"Who are you?"
"Hum?"
"What's going on?"_
Chaos set in once more, the voice completely ignored the screams and continued talking as if it was never interrupted
"Please, please, feel free at this boat, treat it as if it was yours, after all, it will be your house for the next few days"
The screams calmed down and everyone started listening to the mysterious, creepy and raspy voice
"I am sure some of you may have a lot of questions, like ≪Who are you?≫ and ≪How did you kidnap me here in one night?≫, please ignore those unnecessary and worthless questions, and start thinking on the only question that truly matters here"
From the shadows, a tall man with a long gentlemanny hat, a theatrical mask and a very nice and expensive suit appears, although the voice keeps coming from everywhere, it is assumed he's the source of it.
"Why?"
A short silence separates the man's monologue
"Why are you here? Why would anyone bother to kidnap you in this big boat? Among you there are criminals, among you there are fishmen, among you there are people who have never even seen the blue sea… There's nothing that is truly formulaic about the decision of having these precise 9 people here... All of you are completely different."
The man starts slowly walking to where the other 9 are.
"So… why? The question is simple, all of you were randomly chosen to be part of an incredibly fun and exciting battle of wits."
_"A game?"
"What?"
"Who the heck are you"_
Once again, the screams and questions are ignored
"I can see it in your eyes… 9 people here, 2 with truly corrupted souls, 7 with uncorrupted souls, and yet... appearances... personalities... even past acts... none of that matters here, the 2 of you with corrupted souls may be very... unexpected."
The man slowly examines everyone, as he talks
"Tonight, one of you will die, the act will be commited by 2 of you, there will be 8 of you left tomorrow… I wonder who is it that will be killed..."
The man stops at Monkey D Luffy.
"Oh?"
The reason why he stopped is obvious, Monkey D Luffy was with a naive, yet pissed off and defiant face.
"What the heck are you talking about?"
A long silence… Broken by the mysterious man's incredibly loud laugh, after some seconds, the laughing stops
_"You're certainly a entertaining guy, Mister Monkey D Luffy, its a shame you will be the one to die tonight"
The man slowly walks out of the scene, to the hidden door where he came from
"GEAR… SECOND..."
The man stops after hearing those weird words, he slowly turns around
_"What do you mean?"
"JET PISTOL"
A incredibly quick punch hits the mysterious man's face, however, the man dissolves in fog.

"Seems like it"_
The man disappears, and a thunder is heard, soon after the thunder, the loud and raspy laughing is heard once again
"Don't get mistaken by that kid's naiveness, the game will go on as planned, 2 of you will kill Monkey D Luffy tonight, and those 2 will get rewarded by doing so"
The day slowly passes, as the 9 people discuss what happened, panic about what this "game" might be about and theorize if something will really happen to Luffy. Soon, the Night comes and everyone feels the sudden need to sleep, everyone goes to their cabins, and everyone starts sleeps

10 hours later...Everyone wakes up, once again, discussion ensues about what happened yesterday, the boat is explored, someone tries to swim out of the boat, but there seems to be a mysterious solid aura surrounding the boat, also, it seems this mysterious aura is affecting some of the DF users in a mysterious way.
_"Hey… Have you seen Luffy?"
"Hum? No..."
"You don't think..."_
Everyone completely forgot about Luffy, and after 5 seconds, everyone notices Luffy hasn't woke up yet.
"Indeed… as I said...
The door of Luffy's cabin opens suddenly, and the corpse of Luffy is magically thrown out of the cabin to the floor of the deck of the ship, his head decapitated, his body perfurated with what seems to be a knife, everyone panics
SGRaaize is dead, he was Monkey D Luffy, proud captain of the Straw Hat Pirates, he had the ability to investigate whoever he targeted each night.
_"I warned you… and yet none of you did anything... This is a simple game, but a game you'l have to win if you want to leave this ship alive.
There are 8 of you alive as of now, 2 of you are corrupted souls, and as I expected, those 2 corrupted souls decided to join together in a group to do as I told them, as I promised, they shall be rewarded.
However, before you two get your reward, you will have to kill everyone else on this ship, preferably without getting found out.
When everyone else is killed, the 2 of you will get 500 000 000 Berries, each one of you, and you will be escorted out of this boat to whoever destination you wish, as long as its not in the New World.
You two are the ≪Powerful Ones≫, you are the main source of entertainment of this game...The man makes a pause and laughs to himself

The first being, of course, the paranoia.
To the 6 others, you may want to kill those 2 guys, before they kill you.
I won't give you any prizes by doing so, but you'l be escorted out of this boat to whoever place you wish as long as it isn't in the new world, you 6 are the ≪Innocents≫, your objective is to kill the ≪Powerful Ones≫ before they kill you.
However... you don't know who they are, do you?
That's a shame, you may try to find them using your abilities and strenghts, if you wish, but I have decided to limit some of them to make this game more fun to watch, after all, it wouldn't be as fun if you could just simply spy on the entire game to know who the Powerful Ones are after one night, now would it?
Don't fool yourselves into thinking this game can be avoided, the 2 corrupted ones will gladly kill every single one of you to get rich, your only way to avoid this game is to find who the two powerful guys are and kill them.
