It's an area where you can post anything, test your avatars and the likes but the post will not be counted.
Well, that's just I wan to suggest.

what's the use to post anything? if you want to test your ava, just check your old posts.
i think general discussion has already a lot of threads where you can nearly say everything you want.
-
Speaking as someone who's seen spam threads elsewhere, it turns into nightmares.
You end up with people doing things like posting five-screen mosiac epics made of smileys. Or trying for "widest post" and "longest post". And then people get emotionally attached when someone closes the thread for that sort of behaviour.
-
well im pretty sure post count doesnt count in the general discusion thread (if im wrong on this just correct me) and i dont see a point of making a thread to test out a new avatar or sig you can just look at you old posts
-
I thought this thread sounded familiar, and found this:
http://ap.animemedia.org/index.php?showtopic=226
(BTW ronororo you're right; post count doesn't increase in the G.D. area.)

… I'm spamming now, aren't I~? Nrg. Well my thoughts on the matter is... I'm not overly keen on the idea, but when spamming leaks into topics that have a general intelligent purpose... That's worse. Maybe it'd be a good idea, but it could get out of hand and people bring their little mock-RP games into other places. -- I've just realised I sound like I'm in my mid 80s here. Jeez.
DAMN CHILDREN~!! Why, back in my day…
