Gah… I really wanna be completely Crocodile from head to toe, every detail right but... My hair... It's longer than Crocodile's, and I've been growing it since 8th grade... It's like... half-way down my back, and I don't want to cut it, because everyone knows me by my hair... I'm gonna try to tuck my hair into my shirt in the back for my costume after it's made, and if it works I won't cut it but... I really don't want to cut it yet. =(

oh Virus I wouldn't worry about cutting all your hair off D: I mean if you tied it in a pony tail and tucked it down your shirt, I'm sure nobody would care. I know that Carlston on the forums has long hair too and that's what he did and it looked just fine x3
-
buy a wig?
-
I'm in the same boat as you, Virus, 'cept my hair is even longer.
Personally I'm going to be pulling it back into a bun with a fringe of some kind to give the illusion of shortness, but that might not work if you're a guy…
(If you want to try a wig, I actually have a short black one I was originally going to use for my Croc cosplay but decided against that I'm planning on selling :P I just didn't wanna mess with it)
-
Well, I'll see how I look with my hair pulled back, I think it's gonna work, but if it doesn't… X.X
-
Just get a wig, it's easier to deal with - just tie your hair up and put the wig on top. Having your hair down the back of your shirt is gonna feel weird, and when you turn your head, some of it will pull out, and be a pain to keep stuffing back down.

Alright, up until I cut my hair short, I had hair about as long as yours. And it was curly. TRUST ME, you can wear a wig. Put your hair into braided pigtails and then wrap the pig tails around your head and secure them with a bobby pin. After that cover your hair with a wig cap and then put on your wig.
That was the way that worked best for me. Just because you have long hair does not mean you have an excuse to not wear a wig or wear one poorly.
-
Or, you could just shave all your hair off, worked wonders for me XD Oh..but..if you still want people to think you're a female, it's not a good idea. Even with 'C' cups, I am still called 'SIR' x_x;; OHHHH well.
-
umm…. I'm a dude. XD I just have longer hair. and It may not actually be as long as I said. XD I was mistaken! It was late, I was sleepy. XD My hair is actually like... 6 inches past my shoulders. I really don't want to cut my hair or wear a wig, but if I must, I will. I don't know where I can get the right kind of wig though... That makes one more hard to find thing that I need to find and pay for. ugh.
-
i was not a wig person at first. nor do i know a lot about wigs. but I tried them. they're not that bad, and are actually useful when your hair just won't do.

I know, I'm open to a wig, but finding one that will work is going to be very frustrating, seeing as I only have about two months to get everything together.

My hair is just about as long. Since the front breaks and is shorter my bangs were perfect, just put the rest in a pony tail.
I just dyed it black and went with it… -

I just dyed it black and went with it…My bangs are long too, lol. I will try a ponytail, but like I said, Iunno how it's gonna work, and I've kinda been thinking about cutting my hair anyway. That is, if ponytails don't work, and I can't find a wig. =P

throws a bone to get the thread back on track
Hahaa I guess a pet peeve I've developed just recently because of AX is the cosplayers not from the same series PHOTO BOMBING random shots. I mean really…the mannerism is just appalling.
-
I am horrifically guilty of photobombing friends/strangers at A-kon..sorry.. I just.. could NOT help it XDDD Don't worry, I'm sure I got photobombed PLENTY, and it was much much funnier when my friends did it to others. I think the photobombing thing just.. went crazy recently? I'd never even HEARD of it until A-kon o_o I mean, sure, you always catch those random people in the background, but not like THIS year.. they purposely jump back there XD Guess I find it more funny than irritating, but then again, if I was having professional pics taken like you guys obviously are, I would be peeved if someone photobombed something I was paying for :(
-
my friends and i like to goof around. as long as it's in good fun and your not bothering anyone. heck, we took a bunch of stupid pictures today….which i'm not allowed to post on facebook... >_> gotta keep a good reputation and all. you never know.
as long as i wasn't ruining a serious pic, i'd photobomb my friends.
-
having fun is good and all I like to goof around also. But when someone was trying to get a really good shot and stuff and someone just randomly walks into a session. pfffffft so rude.
-
does it count if you photobomb a picture in character? I know I made some pretty stupid faces as Kizaru… xD but yeah D: I wouldn't normally do it... xD;
-
as in kirazu belongs in a marine picture, but not with a stupid face, or you mean you were in character as kiraru likesto make stupid faces?
-
Kizaru seems like a character that would make goofy faces, he already has kind of a goofy face XD But at the same time, he's a total badass.
-
really. i thought he was a serious character. i'll have to watch more. but ya, he does have a silly face. that's why i asked.

I mentioned my cosplay pet peeve, but I have one or two (or more cough) with photographers.
First off, though, our group has been really lucky in the past with professionals. Our Eureka 7 photographer (FallingFeathers) actually went to the trouble of watching a good portion of the show to be familiar with our characters. She wasn't really a fan but still took the time to get to know who we would be cosplaying! (This meant soooooo much to me since the congoing fanbase for E7 is so small.)
What skeeves me off are the people who insist on touching you for a photo. I'm alright with physical interaction if it's another cosplayer from the show or a little kid (or a very attractive person because, yes, i'm shallow.) But if you're a sweaty young man/inappropriately dressed woman who wants to pretend you're groping/punching/tackling me, it's not cool. I have a comfort zone and you are invading it with an army of B.O. cooties.
! The other photo-op peeve is when you've been holding a pose for several minutes, the last few cameras are being stashed, and you see that guy. You know, that guy. Sprinting across the convention floor or just coming in the doors. He sees your group posing. His eyes widen and pocky-smeared fingers scramble in his fanny pack for the camera. Your legs/arms ache and all you want is to stand up, pop your back, and find a place to rest. He is jiggle-sprinting your way shouting "WAIT WAIT HOLD ON!" and your instincts tell you to flee for the elevators. But your swallow your fear and stay posed as this person snaps two or three pictures with their disposable camera, their finger obviously in the shot. These people.

- When people are showing off their wig 'progress' without clothing on.
I'm going to use this young lady as an example since it's on the front page.. and she very well may be wearing something, but it's sure as hell not being shown…
http://www.cosplay.com/photo/2705784/
…but this does happen quite a bit. They show off their wig progress.. but they're not wearing a shirt in the picture. What's really being shown off here?- Sewing gnomes. Sewing/working away happily, almost done with something.. reach down to grab the piece.. it. is. gone. Just bought a bolt of fabric and set by your desk? It's gone. Scissors? Gone. Little gnomes whiz by and grab your junk.
I'm ordering 10! -
i thought gnomes were helpful. arn't you thinking of gremlins?
-
They want you to think they're helpful! That's how they lull you into a sense of security. You'll leave your sewing supplies out that way!
