@Ao:
proof. i remember seeing a few articles about inoue being the only one who ever had a ceremony celebrating this. also there are polls every year deciding JAPAN'S FAVORITE MANGA?? it wasnt fave manga of the year, mate. it was favorite manga period.
Nope, it was done for a Festival, Japan Media Arts Festival.
If you read informative websites like ANN, you would know different polls are made in a regular basis. They love this kind of "all time" surveys.
you said he doesnt do manga at all anymore - as if he hasn't done anything since DB. he's done several things. none of which were amazingly received or insanely popular or anything.
I never said that, i said he doesn't need to.
DB ended 15 years ago, he does work in light hearted one-shots when he feels like it, which rarely happens. Those short stories are not supposed to be anything more than that.
kosuke fujishima designs characters for TWO of the top four rpgs/games in japan - sakura taisen and the tales series. he's not nearly as well known a mangaka as most of the top shonen jump guys. what was the point of even mentioning designing characters for popular games?
Fujishima is popular enough - with the otaku segment, same for Tales and Sakura Taisen. Akira Toriyama and Dragon Quest are both on a different level of popularity and you know it.
Uh, character design IS his main work these days, why shouldn't i mention it? I can only imagine the chaos if another guy were hired to work in the series art.
obviously you would know since apparently you live, and always have, in japan.
Ask Greg or any other forum member living there. I believe it was discussed here already.
