I heard Nightmare on Elm Street is being remade in 2010 too.
Halloween already got remade, and there's a sequel coming out.
I'm probably going to see this on opening night though, only like 20 something more days...

Alright I don't know what Hollywood's obsession is with remaking movies that don't need to be remade-but I am also excited for this movie. I love horror movies and the first Friday the 13th is a classic.
The problem will be in remaking the movie. If it's done literally shot for shot (like the new version of Psycho) it will suck because it will be something everyone has seen before-and because modern audiences love to bathe in blood and gore-boring. On the opposite end of the spectrum if it's completely redone with a new story/plot, etc. it will also most likely suck mostly because horror movie buffs will be pissed that he changed it from the original and Marcus Nispel, in my opinion, doesn't have the talent to make something like that work.
Not one horror movie to date has been successfully remade-but for some reason, after watching the trailer and still shots, i have some faith in this one. All in all FT13th isn't really a complex movie and there are really just a few things our friend Marcus needs to keep exactly for it to be good-
! 1. The real killer is still not Jason-but his mom
2. The scene where Jason's mom is looking for the main girl (forgot her name) and she starts having a conversation between herself and Jason
3. The story of how Jason was murdered
4. The soundtrack
As long as Marcus does that I think it will be good.

I've often wondered about that myself; seems like being supported by people who only want you there so the world can end in fire (with you going to Hell in the process) would be somewhat off-putting

Breaking even at the box office does not a good movie make. Some Uwe Boll movies made back on it's cost.

While it's inferoir to the original, it's still considered a decent flick. And much better than the dozens of sequels they made after the first ones success.

Its not a remake of just the first film, but rather a gathering of ideas from the first 3. We get to see jason with a sack on his head (part 2) and him getting the trademark mask (part 3). Jasons mom will not be the killer in this film, it is Jason himself - a fact that im happy about. Jason rocks!

Rob Zombie should have more freedom to explore his style though. His independent movies were really great.
I'm pumped for the new Friday13th as well. Especially if it's based on the first three movies, easily the best and creepiest ones, when Jason was still far away from become a joke.

I think the Halloween Remake was much more of a mix between an alteration to the story and fanservice.
And if you're wondering what I mean by fanservice…
SPOILERS
! You remember the three girls of the original movie. There's the Laurie(Laurie/Jamie Lee Curtis's character). Then Lynda, who has sex with the guy with the glasses, and is eventually killed. Then Annie, who is strangled with a telephone wire.
! Well, the remake alters the story.
Laurie: Survives
Lynda: Dies exactly the same way.
Annie: SURVIVES!!!
! Why does Annie survive? Remember 'Jamie' from Halloween 4 and 5? That little girl grew up. She plays Annie in the remake. Though she is cut up pretty bad, an ambulance gets to her in time to save her.
! I thought that was a nice nod to the fans of the series.
Fuck. Probably was not the best idea to watch that trailer at 1:29 in da mornin while ma family is away for the weekened and i live near a forest…..

this movie looks awesome loved the FT13TH series. I want to see it but i'm gonna have to convince my fiance and roommate to tag along.
