How many sports anime/manga have people here read and/or watched?

Hajime no ippo is one of the the finest mangas I've read, and the anime adaptation was first rate(hope the new series continues that trend).
Slam Dunk, Major, Eyeshield 21, and Touch are ones that I have also particularly enjoyed.
I've seen others that were ok like whistle, and those like prince of tennis which were…not so good.
-
Prince of tennis (tennis), and Aoki Densetsu Shoot (soccer anime)
-
Prince of Tennis Hajime no Ippo Eyeshield 21 and Initial D counts right even though they drag racE?

Eventhough drag racing is illegal in some places and is considered sport to some I guess.
-
Eyeshield 21 and Slam Dunk.
I've heard good things about Ippo, but I'm too lazy to delve into a series as long (or longer?) then Jojo.
-
The only ones that I like (and have read/watched) are Prince of Tennis and Eyeshield 21.

Does gambling = sports?
-
What? You want to say Kaiji?Of course it's not.
-
If bowling is recognized as a sport why not.
-
read Rookies!
seriously, it's the best baseball manga out there.
NO
It's the best sports manga out there
-
I prefer Touch to Rookies.

@bunshindattebayo:

Anime companies seem to feel gambling = sports.
And it's not just Kaiji, I've seen most gambling anime out there. The only exception might be Yu-Gi-Oh!'s first series.

Slam Dunk, Major, Eyeshield 21, and Touch
Pretty much this. The essential ones are there.
As for baseball series, Major is damn fine, but seriously…Touch is a classic. That was probably the only anime/manga series that shocked me for real by a major character's death.

Drag Racing isn't illegal. Street racing is illegal. There's a difference from the two.
Does gambling = sports?
WSOP is shown on ESPN so one would just have to assume.

Ippo,Eyeshield 21,Air Gear,Prince Of Tennis says no.
But I might check into it since Major hasn't been scanned entirely.
to each his own i suppose. But I just never got into Prince of Tennis and Ippo.
as for Eyeshield 21.. it grabs my attention one moment… then manages to bore me to death the next. (for example.. the christmas bowl was amazing.. but currently i'm just not reading it though
I have loved Rookies since ch 1

Prince of tennis, and I'm currently watching Slam dunk.
Unless killing is called a sport?

That makes Gantz a sports manga.
-
H2, a really good baseball manga and Eyeshield 21. I've started a few others but didn't really like them as much as these two.
-
I've tried a few: Hajime no Ippo, Slam Dunk, Prince of Tennis, Eyeshield 21, Whistle, Captain Tsubasa, etc.
The few that stuck with me were Slam Dunk, which is my 2nd favorite manga of all time, and Hajime no Ippo which is one of the best manga to anime adaptations ever. -
Out of curiousity, are there any good manga about billiards/pool/snooker?
(Technically, they're sports.)
-
Just finished reading Rookies and I found it to be really good. The art style is crisp and realistic, the story's a little cliched but pulled off well, and the characters are well fleshed out. Think GTO/Eyeshield 21 kind of thing.
-
Captain Tsubasa. Heck me and my friends still try Wakashimazu's move where you use the goalpost to jump from towards the ball. This is a real classic.^^
-
Slam Dunk, Captain Tsubasa, Offside, Kickers, Fantasista, Eyeshield21, Prince of Tennis, Cross Over, Hajime No Ippo, etc. Damn i read a lot of sports manga.
-
nice. I was looking for a baseball manga and i went to this thread. been reading H2..nice. i've checked and looks like the author is the same of cross game and some other baseball mangas
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
%^%^^%... just finished H2. i should have known having read cross game...

I first read Prince of Tennis cause I used to play. Then I read Eyeshield 21 (Hiruma Forever~). I don't like the art style of Slam Dunk so I never read it. One Hits (a baseball managa) seemed interesting, but the place I was reading it decided to close and I hadn't thought to pick it back up.
