Somehow, I doubt they'll follow up on that assertion; the general consensus among fansubbers I've talked to is they think Reborn is a "lil' weird" are are unwilling to touch it. Additionally, there's too little fan interest in the series to warrant subbing worth their while.
Frankly, AP is the only place I've actually seen a solid Reborn community, which makes me wonder why the title was licensed by Viz. O.o

I agree, there does seem to be a lack of intrest. It's just wishful thinking. I am glad Viz brought the manga over, since the preview in ASJ is what convinced me to check the series out. I guess the success of the Gintama preview has them assuming another manga in the comedy genre will work as well.

At least my sister got the epis before they were on torrent and epi2 was translated on the day it came out. You just need to... wait... patiently.
Though, I think it's more of fangirling material than pure shounen series. At least he first part. Look at e1n, he's all contaminated among yaoi fangirls...

When you say "meh", are you refering to the series in general or just the anime? I've heard about the anime getting a bunch of edits.

I don't think Reborn's quality is a problem…there's too many subbers hooked on Kanon and Death Note! Souten no Ken, Reborn, and Bartender are getting ignored because there are too few available subbers!

My concern isn't the subbers at this point. I've only read one volume of KHR, so I can't be sure how good the series is as a whole.

It's too bad this series hasn't been subbed yet. People are going to really miss out once the plot really starts later around volume 6 or 7. Some crazy stuff.

Subbing is surely on going, so don't worry. Up to epi3 are already translated by my sister, and I talked the timer about it yesterday in real life, lol.
But yeah, some stuff are changed. Leon transforms into Reborn's gun (so I guess kids won't think it's a real gun etc), Smoking Bomb Hayato is renamed to Hurricane Hayato (or something, I forgot). His dynamites lights up by themselves, and Lambo climbs into Ten Year Bazooka instead of firing it to himself. I actually thought that Lambo's action is better than how it is in Manga.
When I say meh, it's about… over all quality of anime. (Remember, I love Reborn! series. It's my most favorite out of all KEFI projects, btw.) I don't really mind the edits, since I can understand the target viewers are young kids ~ junior high or so. You can tell it from seeing how Amano picks the reader submitted drawings. They all look so... kids' drawing. I bet even if e1n submit his drawing, it won't be chosen.
So yeah, the voice actors aren't doing so great job. Reborn's VA is totally inexperienced and took me 3 episodes to get used to. I quite liked Bianchi's VA though. I expected Lambo to have a little bit more higher tone, but in the end of the epi, I was already used to it.
And drawing part... ... wasn't so great, either. But you'll see it when sub comes out.

I like Reborn's voice it makes him sound cute and will the anime change the scene when Kyoko was in her underwear when she use the dying will bullet or will they keep it the same as the manga?

So there is a sub in the works, that's good to hear. I've heard of all the edits made to the anime, and I still want to try it out. I'll be reading the manga anyway(still unsure whether I'll stay with Viz or start reading scanlations).

! do prefer the manga over the anime, but lambo is just so cooool! i was disappointed about him crawling into the bazooka but that's just how it has to be for the target audience like ocean said.
also what's the difference in the titles for? i noticed they changed katekyo to Kateikyoushi.

Kanji is writte as Katei Kyoushi, but we are supposed to pronounce it as Katekyo.
I liked Lambo crawling into the bazooka. That was cute.

A sub group called Cosmogony has also subbed episode 1. This is their first project and from the looks of things, the members are new to subbing. They mention that there are mistakes in the release beause they lack experience. I wish them luck, although I can't see them competing with Shinsen.

Since most people(myself NOT included) decided that the first 60 chapters are pretty boring, they skipped ahead the 61, but they haven't forgotten about the earlier chapters. Currently KEFI is trying to scanlate both the early chapters(they just finished volume 4 a few days ago) and later chapters that are suppose to be so much better.

I just finished reading volume 1 of reborn, and it's…. ok. Not great, I definitely don't see myself buying anymore of the manga, I'll prolly just watch fansubs of the show till it gets more interesting.

"boring" is a pretty bland and vague way to put it. If teh first 60 chapters are anything like the first volume, I'm guessing their really episodic with that "mission-a-day" feel. I won't mind watching them in anime format, anyway. :)

Hmm I see, well TBH I myself found the early chapters to be somewhat dull, the only thing that made me keep reading the 3 Vol.s I DLed would be the kid with the dynamites XD.

This EP was freakin hilarious, seems like they'll be done with volume 1 in 3 episodes, which is good. Besides the necessary editting I'm liking the anime version alot more so far, the swingin gangsta music is great and reborn could not possibly be more cute.

i watched the first episode, and i think it was great… I think it's funny but in a different way... the characters are great... specially Reborn... About the manga, im gonna start since i heard that it's really a great series... i just don't know where to download it yet, probably kefi...

Is it just me or does anyone else find it strange that we once again start of a anime with most of the characters introduced, like in Gintama.
Oh well, the quality of the anime really does reek anyway….... at least Reborn's VA really sucks. I always imagined Reborn talking in a sophisticated manner despite his young age like Sanji but not as deep.
Don't get me wrong, I don't mean to bag on this series cause right now it's one of my favorite new Jump Series. But the little changes they made is really going to make it tough for fans to truly get into it.
Like Tsuna's eyes when he goes into Reborn-mode, I'm so used to them being nothing but white or at least in that flat-kind of look in recent chapters, it's just strange to actually see that kind of shape for his reborn-eyes. Makes him look totally different from the manga..... and not in the good way.
