@Outerspec:
Some of the dumbest shit I've read on this blog so far and I'm surprised it's coming from you Dryish or is that slogan of yours just for show? Because the terrorist attack on the United States wasn't the worst thing to happen in the world it's not of importance? People died…"so what"... The fuck!? Why can't we remeniecse about that day? It's not a day to stop what you're doing and forget about the rest of the world. I don't know where you even got that mindset. It's a day of remembrance and honoring the dead.
I don't care how big the U.S. media has blown it up to be. Of course they would, it's the U.S. media and it happened in the U.S.! The fact remains it's a day of tragedy. People who compare tragedies and say what's important and what's not important based on death total and shit like that…what am I supposed to say? It's damn stupid. What defines a tragedy is not only the death count. It's its effect.
You ever heard the phrase, "History tends to repeat itself"? That's the reason why we study and remember history. To make sure it doesn't happen again and to learn from past mistakes and successes. Sure, look ahead to the future, but we should never forget the past. What even makes you think like that? I read what you wrote and I'm just baffled.
I believe I have some explaining to do. First of all, I apologize the anger and negative feelings my post has caused. That wasn't my intention in the first place. I did exaggerate, let my feelings take over and wrote some incredibly stupid bullshit. I'm sorry.
My post was hazy and didn't say what it was meant to. The point was, or atleast should've been, that as terrible as the event nine years ago was, it shouldn't prevent things from happening today, or yesterday as my whole post was aimed against the idea of not having something as unnecessary as tournament matches, because of 9/11. Very selfish, yes, as I didn't think of those, who wish to mourn.
"So what", I said. That was outrageous, stupid, immature and anything negative you can come up with. I myself was very shocked when the towers collapsed and I was crying because of all those who died and those, who lost someone they loved. Still today, I am sad and feel bad. As hard as it might sound, after I posted a post of that calibre, In my real opinion there's nothing wrong in lighting a candle for those who died, praying for them, feeling sad for them, honoring those who died and thinking of their loved ones. Perhaps that all should be done. You can spend minutes or hours doing all that, but I believe one shouldn't use a whole day to that and let it come to the way of normal living. Overthinking those events is bound to just create more misery and hate towards those who did it and that only creates controversy, which, in most cases, isn't a good thing. We cannot cancel what happened. We cannot be sure of what really happened that day. Therefore, we shouldn't be too chained to it, as it only brings sadness.
Then we come to the point where I said some more bullcrap about the country where it happened and whined "why aren't the others reminisced as well..", duh. Zephos summarised it well. It matters not, how many people die in the event. Those shouldn't even be compared with each other as they all have different kind of backgrounds. It may be that every US citizen has got a right to be sad and mad. After all, it happened in the States and thus insulted the national pride of many americans. Yet, it is ridiculous how big the issue has been made by the media, and not even only by the US media, but the western european media as well. They deal with it like it was the biggest darn thing in the whole planet's history. Thousands of completely innocent people died and that's horrible, sure. It was the first terrorist action of that size against the States, sure. It should be remembered, sure. Yet it shouldn't be regarded as the ultimate evil-doing against the good western culturesphere by some evil muslims. That does no good for anybody and I'm almost sickened by that, as atleast finnish media tends to look at it that way. But that's just my own opinion. I'm not the one to say anything about that, as I tend to be rather anti-massmedia sort of individual anyway.
Then the history part. As I have (hopefully) already said, I didn't mean that nothing should be remembered, but rather that we shouldn't be thinking it too much as it only creates controversy and insert more preaching here. History repeats itself, yes. Terrorists are going to act countless times more, but because we've learned something from 9/11, we know how to react in the future. I study history myself. I even like it. However, I've learned that the situation today shouldn't be examined the same way as history is. Sure every event happening now has some historical background, but there are some occasions where humanity faces a completely new situation. History won't help, when such moment comes.
I sincerely hope that this solved something and doesn't just lead to another series of misunderstandings, half-trolling posts and some other crap flying to every direction possible.
Tl;dr: I said freaking stupid things, I feel sorry for that and I tried my best to fix the situation.
Rest in peace those who died that day. And my apologies for those, who lost their loved ones in the attack.
@Moneylicious:
And you called me an idiot finn or something like that fucking fag
I don't recall doing that. Unless you are the reincarnation of BananaHammock. Then yes.
