The point of this thread I've made is to share some weird movies you've seen, which could be anything from a Cult/B-Movie/Foreign film, but not anything too mainstream. Like, things that are underground classics, I suppose, rather than the latest summer blockbusters through history.
Here's a weird movie I saw again, recently. "Withnail And I."
Has anyone else ever seen it? It's a weird British movie about two down-and-out mature theatre students living in a dirty old flat, one is a neurotic, paranoid type called "And I…" ( Paul McGann ), and one has a terrible drinking problem, Withnail ( Richard E. Grant ) and thinks he's the best actor in the world.
So, they end up taking a holiday to the country, because they've convinced Withnail's rich, homosexual Uncle Monty to lend them the keys to his cottage. And crazy adventures take place, involving mental Poachers with shotguns, having to kill a chicken, run at a bull screaming, and also, avoiding the advances of Withnail's creepy gay Uncle.
It's crazy, totally weird stuff. There's a drug dealer called Danny ( Anyone remember 'Wayne's World II'? He sort of makes an appearance in that, also, as the British Groupie dude. "I had to beat them to death with their own shoes…" Etc. ) who says weird quotes and has a twisted philosophy on life, and he has a huge, crazy looking friend called Presuming Ed. They also make a huge spliff at one point, with about twenty odd skins. The movie has some really great lines, and the ending is really emotional.
Everything else is pretty wacky, zany. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for something a little different. It's fairly old now, but has been released on DVD a while ago.
Now I've started, anyone else care to share?
