@Tsukento:
Wat? :wassat:
With Huntsman, you're bound to run out of arrows quickly and have a higher chance of being mowed down if you just spam arrow shots without aiming. Not to mention you also become an open target for rifle wielding Snipers.
Force-a-Nature can be cheap at times, but there's the whole having to hope you're right on the enemy in order to actually hit them and hard. More often than not, I find myself either missing quite often or not doing a whole lot of damage with the FaN despite being up close to enemies.
As for Dead Ringer…no skill? That damned uncloak sound makes it obvious as hell that you have to beware of a Spy. Not to mention, you have to know when to wield it so as not to continue burning when running from a Pyro, as well as when to not make yourself so obvious.
All good points.
Huntsman annoys many people (Lucksman anyone?) because its hitbox is about the size of a dumpster, which is horribly cheap for a headshot weapon. Search youtube, "huntsman hitbox".
Force-A-Nature sucked when it first came out, then they powered it up and everyone started using it. Way too much knockback, insanely fast damage output…there was much raging. They weakened it again to reduce the knockback based on accuracy of the shot. It's not so bad any more but for a while it was a real epidemic.
As for the Dead Ringer, it does require skill because, well, it's junk. It's very difficult to get a lot of kills with it. BUT, the simple annoyance and distraction it causes is frustrating as hell. Before the DR a spy could only wreak psychological havoc by being damn good at their job.
The thing that bothers me about it is, these unlocks make things easier for inexperienced players, but for skilled players the original versions are still better. Someone who is really good at sniping is never going to use the huntsman. "Competitive" scouts don't use the FAN. (Those guys know their shit, but don't get me started on how silly comp. tf2 is.)
Now, getting off that topic.
War! Update details are on the tf2 blog. http://tf2.com
Soldier and Demoman both get 3 unlocks.
Whichever class kills more of the other during the next week gets an extra 4th item!
This sounds awesome, I'm glad my finals end before the update will happen…
! go team soldier!
