The ranked player retains the rank… for the month.

Best advice for the other person: Be sure to enter the power rankings for the next month. Otherwise, you can BRAG about winning against the #1 ranked player... but personally, I find the rank # more impressive.

Simpler than you think. This is the standard way we've done Melee (and now initial Brawl) PRs for more than a year now (at my college). It works very well (and we've had 40+ people competing).

For future reference, no one is allowed to use DDD's down-throw more than 2-3 times in a row when versing a Mario, Luigi, Samus or DK during the PRs.

It's been proven to be an infinite. Those 4 characters wouldn't be able to DI and could rack up 999% damage if continuously grabbed.

So I started using Olimar today against computers

He's both the most frustrating and best character I've ever played. Computers dodge the pikmin so easily, but when they get hit, I fuck them up.

He's not as strategic as Snake though, so I think my brain can handle using him.

I need to find a character and stick to him or her ><
