Usually I'd never bother writing a thread like this but all the stuff I saw in here, got me psyched!
What I don't understand tho….why is Terry wearing his classic outfit for XII? ...and is it me or is Ash gayer than usual in his new artwork?
Anyway Late 2007 for KoF 98: UM sounds OK to me, hope they do some extra tweaking and fixing.
SNK at TGS 2007 (SNK USA to release craploads of goodies!)

-
Hory shid, you're on here too?
Why is Terry in his trucker garb? It's laundry day! I think it's because of the supposed promised new sprites that're supposed to be out for this one. They may have wanted to appease the classic fans.
I do love Betty's new look though. Reg A 2 needs to not be released at -all-..neither does Doki Majo 2.
-
The Dream Match KoF games are my favorite, so I'm really looking forward to 98UM. I just really really hope it's not as bad as 94 rebout was. I was hoping we would see more for XII by now than just some artwork, but I can let that one slide. I'm also glad to see that Leona and Goro are back for XII. Heres hoping Yamazaki makes the cut as well.
-
I'm excited about '98 UM. It's my favorite KoF, and now it's got Mr. Big and Eiji, who were the only characters I always wished were in it.
-
Awesome, finally new info on XII… but why the hell is Goro there?
THE KING OF FIGHTERS COLLECTION: THE OROCHI SAGA (Wii, PlayStation2 computer entertainment system, PSP (PlayStationPortable) system)
Awesome.
SAMURAI SHODOWN ANTHOLOGY (Wii, PlayStation 2 system)
Awesome. Just hope it includes the recent titles as well.
3D Samurai Shodown? Hm, weird.
-
There was another 3D SS game. Way back on the Hyper NeoGeo 64 there were a few 3D SS games. I haven't played them, so I cannot comment first hand how they play, but I certainly haven't heard anything good about them. Seems their only merit was introducing Shiki and Asura.
That being said, now that SNK has been getting more experience with 3D fighters, hopefully the new SS 3d game will be fun. I just want some 3D Basara beatings.

The best character that came from that was Taizan. He was in the second SS 64 game. But I've only played as him in the Neo-Geo Pocket color SS2. But he hasn't been playable since. But I liked how he fought with a paintbrush.

I was going to link to Wikipedia, but they have deleted the entire Samurai Shodown character section because apparently they aren't noteworthy enough.
-
Great news,Are they bringing Samurai Shodown 6 to the US?,I heard that Neo Geo Battle Coliseum will be coming in America on October 23rd
-
Holy crap, I forgot all about that guy. He is indeed awesome.
Yeah, I was at Wiki earlier today trying to look up SS character stuff, but everything redirected me to the main article. Mega lame.
-
Yeah, Wikipedia did some witch hunt on SS character pages.
Same with SFIII character pages actually.

We'll also be getting KoF XI on October 2nd. Both will be $19.99, but you'll have to order through Amazon or Gamestop to find it. We haven't been having much luck with getting stuff in-store.
Also, Fatal Fury Battle Archives and Art of Fighting Anthology are already stateside.
-
with Samurai showdown on wii, there goes its chance for to be on Virtual console
the only KoF game I have played is KoF 99:Millenium Battle on Neo-Geo arcade. Not sure how good the KoF games are now

I only played the first one and I would GLADLY drop $600+ on it (to buy it). The game is actually my favorite in the series. It's really fun. The reason why most people don't like it, though, is because it isn't exactly like the 2d games (damn otaku). You pretty much have free roam (you can run circles around your enemy) and can knock enemies through walls. Also, the game only has one level for specials.
The new one looks a bit like SC (more 2d like then 3d).
-
Nice at Samurai showdow anthology and the KOF collections.
Glad to see 2d fighters aren't completely dead and forgotten.

Yeah, I really would like to play it sometime. Sadly, that isn't really going to be an option at this point. I always wanted to play the Fatal Fury that was on that system as well, despite what the masses say about it.
-
If the SS Collection includes up to Tenkaichi, then that will be awesome. I'd finally be able to read the storylines in Tenkaichi and understand some of the gameplay stuff I never bothered with.

The 2D ones are heavenly. The 3D ones are Fanboy Falcoon's Wet Dream. :(
-
I just wish the characters in the 3D Maximum Impact series didn't all wear rubber jumpsuits with belts and zippers. I've always liked Falcoon's art, but haven't been a big fan of most of his MI designs.
Some of the alternate costumes are cool though, especially the ones taken from other SNK characters. Also, I like the characters you can find in the backgrounds (even some World Heroes characters are there).
-
Yeah, Some of the alt. costume options were neat. Iori as Setsuna, Geese as Mukai/Zero/Goenitz, Soiree as Ramon, Rock as Kaede/Kain, etc etc etc.
-
The alternates were fine for the men and a couple of the women (I like Yuri's and Ninon's)..but for the rest of the women, he strayed wayyyy-ha-hayyyyy off of their personality and essentially turned them into nothing but tissue material.
MI also -seriously- needs to fix the boob physics.
-
I dunno, Nagase's panda ninja outfit was pretty neat.
But otherwise the rest were pretty off the wall. Like B. Jenet's huge straw hat.
-
I think I saw a screenshot of Geese as Karmen Cole (from AoF 3) which was really neat.
In Maximum Impact 1, Leona had an alternate where she dressed as Rosa from Kizuna Encounter. But I don't know if she still had it in MI2 (I never saw it though).
-
The only worthwhile new character in the MI games has been Hyena.

That you did.
He also has an alt that's Goenitz. For Leona, not this time. Falcoon opted for Rei and Asuka instead. :(
And Nagase is one of his originals. I'm talking about what he did to the established females… like turning Mai into a furry.
-
I'm kind of worried about the collections, because several fighting game "anthologies" that have been recently released have been pretty underwhelming.
-

Agreed. It has been a while since I last sat down and played an SNK fighting game, but I aim to get those if/when they get a UK release, though from what I've heard of the "World Heroes" series, I'm surprised they're even bothering with that one.

I love the World Heroes games. They are nowhere near as bad as people make them out to be. The gameplay is fine, especially when compared to other fighters of the time.
Nothing groundbreaking (although they did have some innovative features) but nothing bad either. I've always liked the wacky characters too. Wish they'd make a new one, but I'm definitely getting the collection.
-
Don't really care for any of the titles announced except Samurai Showdown 7 and KOF 12 (which SNK refuses to reveal, the bastards)
-
More trailers and pics at the site I linked in the first page, KoF 98 UM's trailer was kickass! UM Trailer from GameSpot
! From the vid, UM's 'hit' effects kinda remind of XI. Also it seems the EX versions of the Fatal Fury characters MIGHT play like their Real Bout 2 ver. (I don't recall Yamazaki's throw super having a projectile ver. in ANY of his KoF incarnations, but he had in RB2). I never was MUCH a fan of Krauser's KoF sprite, but I might grow into them.
I hope Orochi, O. Iori & O. Leona are gonna be balanced.
If u notice near the end of the vid, they show short clips of some crazy combos never possible in the original game, hope damage scaling will help in this one
Don't think SamSho Tenkaichi will be in the collection, the game itself will need a disc of it's own.
WW7 & Galaxy Fight in one collection is kickass too. Maruru's my fav. WW7 character. -

I've not actually played the game, instead going off what I've personally heard. For the record I personally refuse to judge something without trying it first, so I may pick the game up if it gets a UK release just to see what it's like.

Oh how I've missed that extra finisher for Yondan Drill. Really getting excited for this game. Times like these make me happy that I have a Japanese PS2.

If Psycho Soldier isn't on the Arcade Classics set, I will punch a small dog.
-
I'm looking forward to the arcade collection. I've been playing the Capcom and Taito arcade collections recently, and I'd like to play an SNK one.
-
It had better be Mid 2009 at most for US release =_=.
Also heard rumors that KoF XII will be cell-shaded or such… -
I can't believe no one else saw what amounts to blasphemy; KoF XII in 3-D?! No! Bad fish! That dog won't hunt! No no no no no no no!
Why SNK, you bastards!? Maximum Impact is crap, why would you want to turn the main franchise into THAT?!
-
I think everyone ignored it because it was Kotaku that reported that.
Kotaku also reported in the past that SC would have fatalities. I think I'll wait until we hear from somewhere more reliable.
That being said, I imagine that the end product of the sprites will be presented somewhat similar to the sprites in Rumble Fish. I don't think there is any need to panic at this point, given we haven't seen one screenshot.
-
From what I gather it'll be like Rumble Fish, like Kei said. It'll still be 2-D, but also 3-D. Think Mischief Makers for N64.
-
They might as well put Metal Slug 7 on the Wii somehow. They've already got all the others on the Anthology, so there's no point in leaving out the latest one.
-

Unreliable source, eh? That's a relief…
-
Yeah.
We don't need another mediocre/below average 3d fighter series in the market.
Soul Calibur already filled the position.
-
Blah. US release of KoF XI got pushed back to late Oct, and Battle Colosseum is pushed back to Nov.

WHAT?!!,Why?
-
Because It's SNKP USA?
-
Either way, it's heading for my house. holds up pre-order receipt

Well, not only that, but the official site still says that it is a "2D" game.
-
I call Best Buy and GameStop to see if they have King of Fighters XI but they both don't have it only King of Fighters 2006 and then i check the Internet and it said that it's going to be delay again till Nov 2 NOOO! :(
-
Oh no
you'll have to wait a single week
-
@Cap'n:

It's just too much to bear.

BTW it seems SNK USA have decided to release the World Heroes & Real Bout collection to the US, yay!
