@ Arei: I would offer you to stay in my room. But sadly it is full already. Well kinda…we could probably squeeze you in, but we are bringing Chris' 15 year old cousin and one of her friends and her mom says the only wayshe will let her come is if we only have people room with us that she knows.

Okay, no trip to Hancocks today, but no worries o_o they are open tomorrow =_=;; UGHHHHHHHH I knew I shouldn't have went to sleep earlier, i should of just STAYED UP. I need to get dress material and yellow sash material. Then I'll be done buying for 2 costumes. Though I need some black-ish pantyhose, then I'll be good xD
..just felt like posting a pic I got off my camera today xD
!
I forgot all about this picture! XD haha!Hope everyone enjoyed that..or not. sorry, I'm seriously going to bed now x_x;; I've got COSPLAY to do later :D
-
Damn, a sale at Hancock Fabrics the week I am so totally broke! I'm having a hell of a time finding burgundy/cranberry/red plum suiting material that has a texture I like! The local JoAnn's had the color, but not the texture. Bah.
-
@Mel: haha you look like you are about to knock someone out in that picture!
@Charli: oh no! That sucks! It is a really good sale too! A lot of there material is 52% off. I bought about 5 yards of upholstry vinyl for $15 dollars yesterday too!
-
Mel do you remember the little girl that followed you around Yulecon last year when your were wearing you one mask? She was so cute, and it was so funny.
Sorry random memory.
-
Heh xD Yeah, Burgess is about to kick some asses. I wish my arms didn't look soo flabby, but hell, it's not like his arms are super toned even if he's super strong xD LOL
OH yeah!! I remember that Brandee!!! My sis never uploaded any of those pics, but I totally remember her XD She was soo adorable, probably the only kid I ever met I didn't hate. That was pretty cool xDD
ALSO I got everything I needed I think except a zipper for the back of the Mouji top, we need to make it first, then figure out how long to get the zipper. No use in getting a zipper that too short or too long x_x;
The dress calls for boning.. SHIT.. My sis has NEVER dealt with it before..so this will be a learning experience xD

I need help guys!
A friend and I want to do the masquerade for ACen, but can't decide on what series to do it from. So uh…just give us suggestions of anime/video games that you would LOVE to see cosplayed from.
-
Uhh.. Anime besides One Piece would be Fairy Tail. Video game, I'd say Rival Schools because there is NEVER enough love for that series, and I never see cosplayers from it. EVER. And I'd still love to cosplay Natsu from Fairy Tail, especially since there's supposed to be an anime out of it soon xDD AHHHHHHHH SOOO EXCITED!!! I just don't know how they're gonna do it when there's not a whole lot of Fairy Tail out yet…but Yeah, either of those two is my recommendation.
-
Well I do already have Fairy Tail planned. I don't know if she reads Fairy Tail or anything though.
Rival Schools, I haven't played yet but the designs are not so bad.
-
do characters from a Dragon quest game. everyone does FF cosplays. I've never seen a Dragon quest cosplay. :)
-

I still want to cosplay Kyoko from that series. I've loved her design since I was introduced to the game.
-
I just bought a Dragon Quest game not that long ago. I need to play it, but my PS2 has not been working right recently.
-
So, I'm in need of some help.
I've never cosplayed before, but a friend and I have decided to be Lucci and Kaku for Halloween. I'm being Kaku, and I'm wondering what the best course of action would be for the nose.
Thanks in advance!
-

Had that happened before too (having to take someone who can only go with ppl they know) so I understand XD
@Ace:
ZOMG! 8D No way! Heather is my BEST FRIEND!! X33 We grew up together! ^^ This is so cool! OwO Yeah, she cosplayed as Femerica one day, and Tsuna on the other. But anyway, yes, I most definitely know her! ^^ nodnod
And yeah, I was the only Inazuma~ :3 looks proud Epic? Awww, you flatter me~! >w< gigglewiggle
Awesome XDDDD And yes you are epic XD

Either Pirateneko or Youshi can help you out with it, I got no clue how they did their Kaku nose, you might have to prod them though, sometimes it's hard to get an answer from them! Hope this helps :D
-
They helped me with my nose but I think it ended up being a little too long and heavy, but it'll work for now, I'll deal with making a new one for next year because I think I'll only wear it one more time this year.
…. I didn't know making a nose could be so sexual xDDDDDDDDDD

Hey don't worry, I will gladly tell you some things you can do. Its not like I'm that hard to approach ;p
First off, get yourself a "Pinnochio nose" This place is pretty cheap and it ships fast. Only cost me like $13 total, includes shipping.
Now, the problem with Arei's Kaku nose was that the air dry clay she used was too heavy. So if you can get ahold of it, buy some Delight air dry modeling compound. It is very easy to mold once you get it wet and when it drys completely, it is light as a feather! You might also want to sand it down once it is dry to give it a sharper look.
Once it is completely dry, make sure it will fit into the nose
condombefore you shove it in. Most importantly, have some sort of lubrication so it goes in more easily. (Trust me on this!!) You can glue it on the inside to make sure the edges are nice and sharp. You'll obviously notice the rounded end… well, once you fit it inside as far as you need, just simply nip the tip.
Also keep in mind you will need to use acrylic paint and make up to match the nose to your skintone.
If you cannot get ahold of spirit gum to stick it to your face, use doublestick tape! I found out that it works wonders when that is all you have around!
As for the length, it should not exceed the brim of the hat, might need to be a bit shorter than that, but not by much. Look at screencaps or manga pictures, they are your best friends.
That's about it, good luck with that!! =D

Hm weird I thought we did shorten it, oh wells. Maybe we can fix it someday. You should come hang out sometime! =D
HAHAHA yes! So many interesting references made that night, good times!
-
I'm easy to approach too! But if it's Kaku stuff you want to know, I'd definitely ask Neko.
-
It is 6:38 in the morning and for some reason the only thing I have on my mind is cosplay =_=;; That and exercise. Wish I had some pictures to post, AGHHHH I wanna put on a costume soo badly.. x_x
-
@pirateneko:

It was shorted a bit but not that much. It also stuck out past the brim quite a bit more then it should. Should have measured it up to your nose and snipped it off a bit more.
And I'll order that clay if I have to @_@ Charli said it was at Hobby Lobby but it seems like they're no longer carrying it, because every store I go to they only have that one kind of paper clay I got.
… The fact it had to be lubed in was priceless
And yes there should be more fun times XD Who knows what else we could come up with lol.
-
Guys! I think we decided on what we want to do for the Masquerade. Valkyria Chronicles! It isn't set in stone. But there is one character in that game that my friend would be perfect for. So now if I can find a character for me to do, we are all set.
-
(Because I accidentally clicked on the wrong thread last time XD) My subpar Croc from a few years ago at AX. I've updated it since then a few times, but a friend just posted it so here you go.
-
ok our official decision is in: GrimGrimmoire. The designs are simple and cute. We have plenty of time to get them done too. We have also decided that for ACen 2011 to do something more complicated.
-
Yeah for complicated cosplay!!! For some reason I love doing One Piece cosplay..and actually for 2011 I'm hoping that I'll be weight-wise where I can actually cosplay as a Sailor Scout, which isn't complicated at all xD LOL!!!
Good luck on the cosplays though Omni, I'm just on too much of a One Piece kick to dedicate any of my cosplays to anything else. Though I still wanna do the twins from Super Jail..eyes sister
Awesome Croc up there btw!!! There's never enough Croc love <3333
-
You will be! And if you do come to ACen make sure you bring the Sailor Scout with you. I am doing Sailor Moon for this upcoming Acen and I will break her out again.
-
We have also decided that for ACen 2011 to do something more complicated.
Devon told me about this tonight. I'm so shaking a fist at you!
-
hahaha why? Don't want to do that series? But we have until 2011 to get it done!
-
Holy moly xD I looked up Valkyria Chronicles to see what the character designs are like, and WOW O_O they are stunningly beautiful!!! I wish I could pull off something that complicated and EPIC __ I hope you really DO do those for a convention for 2011!!! Maybe my sis and I will be able to do something super awesomely complicated by then, my sis will be even BETTER at sewing :D
-
Actually it will be Valkyrie Profile that we do for 2011. However I would still love to somehow do Valkyria Chronicles as well. But both would take up so much time and money to do! Both have epic epic designs. I still think my friend Devon would look awesome as the princess from VC though. But whichever ones we decide to do for 2011 it will be epicness.

Ahh, I might be cosplaying as Gray for CTCon next year. =D There's definitely not enough Fairy Tale out there… -3- But there was an Erza there this time around that was really nice. =3 I don't think I have a picture of her, sadly. v.v
Awesome XDDDD And yes you are epic XD
Awww, thank yooouu~~!! X333 hugs
-

And I have a friend at my school who will be cosplaying as Lucy in April.
-
Ooooo I really hope everyone doesn't drop so I can go to ACen <3 I'm excited, it shall be epic.
Does anyone have any idea of what I could make Croc's hook out of that is light and would travel well if I had to take it on a plane? =/
I thought of doing it the way we made my cousins pinata, blowing up a round punching baloon to the right size and covering it with the redneck paper mache (newspaper flour/water mixture like you make a pinata with, just so the balloon will become solid so it can be cut) to make it solid then sculpt the different beveled edges w/real nice paper mache or paper clay so the base looks right. When the first base is solid and dry holes can be cut in it so the arm and hook can go in.
I'd make the hook out of wire for the base but make it extra long so the bottom can go in and be the handle inside then cover it with the same method then paint it all so it's metallic looking.
That was my idea but would there be any way to ship it where it wasn't crushed? Or is there a sturdier method?
If we could get on SWA where bags ship free and I could put it in a box and take it on or get it marked fragile it might could work but I'm just seeing if anyone else had a better idea.
-
Arei, i think your idea for building the hook is great, and is prolly the stongest and lightest way to go, save for doing something with wonderflex maybe. But you'd still have to build up detail with paperclay or something.
For shipping it though i think that a nice sturdy box, a ton of bubble wrap and maybe packing peanuts are going to be your best friend. something like that should travel and ship quite well as long as it's pack nice and snug so it doesn't have any room to bounce around, but still has plenty of cushion.
College sucks this year, i feel like everyone else has changed, but i stayed the same, like i don't fit in any more. sigh Looking forward to Youmacon though :D
-
It's not too different from how I made my Croc hook above. Although I've changed it a bit since then, I used a styrofoam ball base and coated it with papermeche/plaster wrap to give it shape and sturdiness. The actual hook part uses a coat hanger as a base. Mine looks a little bumpy, but I've seen some really neat looking ones that have a lot of plastic work–I just suck at that stuff. XD
-
I didn't think of a styrofoam ball XDD That might be sturdier then the balloon and plaster thing.
-
@Marimo: Where are you going to school?
-
Ohio northern university, for forensic biology.
-
ah. I was just curious since you are in the midwest where you were at. If you were in Illinois I would suggest getting together with me and Bri for fun times. But Ohio is ab it of a drive to just get together!
-
Haha, yeah it's kind of a ways off ^^ I just wish i could find other cosplayers/anime fans here.
It's like people are afraid to come out and say they're anime/manga fans for some reason. I've been here 2 years, this being the begining of my 3rd and I have met 3, maybe 4 people who openly admit to liking anime and such. :\
-
TEXT WALL ALERT XD
I REALLY hope they try to do placement at the dorms I'm going to, where they match you up with people with similar interests.
I'd like to hang up a few anime drawings and have a few anime things in my dorm room but it would be SO INCREDIBLY AWKWARD to share a room with someone of a totally different personality who doesn't understand anime at all and won't even tolerate it.
Unfortunately when you get out of HS, assuming you did not give a shit about what people thought of you anyway, you almost immediately get judged in a different light. You know, it's totally your own business to cover your room/dorm/apartment in as much anime stuff as you want, and you have ever right to enjoy it. I've been in the apartments of a few people long out of school who's entire places are covered in anime and gaming stuff, or atleast have shelves overflowing with anime and merchandise XD And that's freakin awesome.
However, when you get out of HS you are getting judged as an adult, and if you want to succeed as a professional, earn some cred. with your fellow peers/colleagues, or AT LEAST at the VERY LEAST be taken seriously, the otaku look is going to get you nowhere fast.
Thank you GOD for allowing the creation of anime conventions. They're such wonderful things where we can let our freak flag fly and be those nerds, but in the land of "normies", it's just seen as childish.
I found out my look of mostly graphic tees and jeans added to making me "unapproachable" for some reason, it wasn't just an attitude deal. Some people view the comfortable looks as "not caring" about what other people think therefore you are not interested in them or their opinion, which is far from the case most of the time unless you truly are an antisocial.
Unfortunately anime is equated to cartoons and it comes with the stigma of being childish.
As much as I would LOVE to carry my Ponyo bag EVERYWHERE, I know if I carted my books around in that I would not be taken as seriously. Around town I don't really care, it's only in certain situations where your appearance, especially the first impression, is everything.
-
hahaha why? Don't want to do that series? But we have until 2011 to get it done!
Because I was getting the plans for Lenneth for 2010… I have a Lezard. Raging at you now!*
*Actually, what's your thoughts on Super Gals?
Shichibukai Hancock..about 80% done. I'm not happy with how it's fitting right now, so I'm going to fix that... also adding in the collar frogs and a couple buttons in the back to hold onto the collar.
!
-
Super Girls?
I don't know….XD Hahah we were originally going to try and get VP done for this year. But I know for sure Chris and I wouldn't be able to get Celes done in time.
-edit-
PROGRESS PICTURES!!! Spoilered because it is epic.

So hay. Failed last time, but I finally got a good photo from Anime Boston 2009. I did Crocodile with help from the fantastic Apple Genocide. The coat was heavy, but the cosplay was totally worth it.
Hope you enjoy it!
-
I…I...want to rub myself all over your coat.
-
I…I...want to rub myself all over your coat.
It has a defense system of pins. While it may seem enticing, it is a far more dangerous article of clothing than it appears.
But it is nice. And fluffy.
I am full of win tonight. :B
-
Is it a porcupine coat?

That is one SEXY CROC COSPLAY HOLY SHIT.. perfect.. your expression, your hair XD EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEee Expressions are SOO SOOOO IMPORTANT GOD I hate it when people don't get into character =_=; I love the Banana wani too xD SOOO SOOOO CUTE OH MY GOD!!!!!!
And Omni, do you have a pic of the character you are dressing as? I'm sadly not familiar with it, and I wanna know ;__; wahh
-
Hahaha I am actually not dressed as any character in that picture. It is just a picture of a fat suit I bought last night for a cosplay I will be doing in the future.
-
About to say omni… it was kind of horrifying XD
Yeah when I do Croc I better be warned before pictures are taken otherwise it may end up being OOC XD
