$50 for 13 episodes isn't really bad. It's not good, but it's not bad. I generally like my box sets to be at or under $2 an episode. Especially for really long series as they tend to have less content per episode than the typical 20-50 episode series (hey, let's reshow the last five minutes of the last episode for the first five minutes of this one. And don't forget to toss in a couple flashbacks of something that happened three episodes ago).
I think the best way to do the DVD release would be to put out box sets of eps 1-144 as fast as possible while dubbing the show for television, but that kind of schedule would probably kill the poor VAs.
On the other hand, I seem to remember Funi dubbing Dragonball and DBZ at the same time. So I guess it could be possible.
This is really kind of an odd situation for Funi.
Unlike DBZ, I really don't think Funi could get away with waiting until the series is over before redubbing the older stuff. That's a LOOOONG ways off.
But they can't just hold off on dubbing Jaya onward either.
I guess it's all about priorities.
@Superraizen:
think they should put more episodes on it, I mean YYH is releasing single disk DVDs with like 13 or 14 episodes on it and its only about $25. If they are going to sell us 13 episodes do it that way, $50 for 13 episodes is a rip off if you ask me for $39 episodes( 3 DVDs) thats $150, the DBZ boxset had 39 episodes and it was only $30-50.
Yes, but those YYH disks are the THIRD time those episodes have been released. First in single DVDs, then boxsets, and now again with the new ones.
Likewise, DBZ had at least one or two releases before the new seasons sets came out.
