Long story short, I am currently working on a Japanese history independant study. I'm going to be writing about anime and how Japanese history is demonstrated within it, for better or for worse.
I was very curious when I saw Otogi Zoshi, because it takes place during the Heian Era, the same time as Tale of Genji. The summary I read though seems to be more involved in the samurai class and a fantastical journey than the imperial court…
My question is - Does this series show imperial court life at all? Does it seem to have any historical significance, or is it merely an olden times fantasy like Inu Yasha with a defined period of time when it took place by our calender?
