I haven't given one thought to what skin color Brooke had. And after reading about this ghetto Brooke stuff….. I still haven't.

In response to what Tony-kun said, As I've said before Brooke might have more weapons on him than a sword. That's why I plan to wait this out. And also, Brooke just might have a dream. Remember, he said something to Franky that made him cry and emotionally touched him. That's a clue, and another reason why I'm going to wait this out.

W don't know if he'll join for sure, but also there's obviously some clues as to whether or not he will join which haven't been revealed yet.

The only theory I persistantly stand behind is that he may be the skeleton of an elderly man.

Actually, my dad's afro was black. o.O; but he's going bald now, so he couldn't grow one. XD! There'd be none at the top! wow. that would look interesting. I'm going to try to bribe him to grow his hair longer, now!!

…and I really don't care if Brook was black or not. It's just not important to me. I like him, though. He'd be great as a Straw Hat.

I do agree that should Brook is black but not because of his afro,plus we non't have alot of black heros in anime/manga we got Chocolove(Shaman King) and Yoruichi(Bleach) we always get black villians like Mr.1,Gedatsu,Aokiji,Tosen(Bleach),and Kidomaru(Naruto)

Ok, here are all my thoughts about Brooke. Consider those things already stated in this thread as my agreement.
Brooke is definitely joining the Strawhats. As of our most recent chapters, we've learned that he has his emotional back story (Franky can testify of this) and a dream. Though we don't know what this promise to his nakama was, it is probably something he needs to travel deeper into the New World to accomplish. Otherwise, his crew could have seen it done before going as far as the Sea of Demons (and a note: I don't agree with the Laboon theory. I don't think a promise like that could bring Franky to tears. Though he is a sensitive soul…)
In further support of Brooke joining, I'd like to add that he perfectly fits with the Strawhats. Their dynamics are already there. He's funny and quirky. And I'm very pleased that he'd be joining in the front line ranks, and not as a member of the weaker crewmates. He's a musician, which, of course, Luffy has wanted since after recruiting Zoro. And another thing is… why not? Brooke's crew is dead, his ship is broken. After he gets his shadow back, where else does he have to go? Unless his dream takes him in a completely different direction (ie. back into the first half of the GL).
As for the swordsman thing, I don't see it being a problem. One way that Oda could resolve this is to have Brooke defeated by Ryuuma once again. Then Zoro could come along and defeat Ryuuma in his stead (which would gain Zoro his third sword, as well as show his superiority over Brooke). Or even if there was never a point at which it was clearly defined that Zoro was better than Brooke, this would create an interesting dynamic for them on the ship.
Anyway, people have said that Oda is unpredictable with people joining the crew, but I don't think so. I think it's obvious. Everyone that has joined so far, I thought it was obvious. And those that haven't, I never thought belonged anyway. Brooke is obviously a Strawhat. If he doesn't join, this will be the first surprise that Oda has given me (crew-wise).

For Brook's attacks, I'm going with sound-based. Why? Several reasons. For one, he is known as the "humming swordsman" which seems to point towards sound-based attacks using his cane-sword. Also, the OP characters tend to have attacks based on their profession:

SHs:
Luffy: No real connection like with other captains
Zoro: Swordsman-swords
Usopp: Sniper-snipes with slingshot and cannons
Sanji: Cook-only uses hands to cook and thus uses legs
Chopper: Doctor-Uses a drug(rumble ball) for his main attacks
Nami: Navigator-uses knowledge of weather patterns with climatact
Robin: Archeologist-other limbs are used to collect information or retrieve things(kind of a longshot, but still)
Franky: Carpenter-uses machines he built on himself with his carpentry skills

If Brook were to join he would be a musician that uses sound to attack, fitting the pattern(which also stretches beond the SHs).

Luffy doesnt stop beeing made of rubber in the ocean so Brook will only be paralyzed.. question is if he drowns or not.

About Brook and the ocean, here's my opinion:

I think he already used the power of is Yomi-Yomi fruit completely. I mean, this kind of fruit just worked while he lived in his FIRST life. After he died, the fruit power "got used", therefore making him not an devil fruit user anymore.

Being that way, he can swin, walk on water and so on. ANY other devil fruit user cannot walk on the ocean like he did. Ao kiji did once, but still, he has the freezing power, so he froze the ocean first. But even him cannot swin or freeze the ocean if he falls there (let's say he was K.O'ed).

Well, my point is… Brooks' not a devil fruit user anymore and so he can swin and walk on the ocean, and the things that the marines uses against Devil Fruit users do not affect him.

That's all, folks.

P.s: Brook WILL join. Reason: Luffy get what Luffy wants, with the zombie tree being an exception.

He still has the DF. That DF is probably what's sustaining his new life, and thus still in effect. He walks on water since he's light.

No, they cite that as the reason he came back to life; it's not said whether it can work again or not. However, Brooke said that it was supposed to bring him back to life once, so I'm taking that at face value.

I've been thinking. People have been complaining for lack of Brook's flashback in his backstory. What if we'll get in to more detail on it later, though? The tradgedy in Brook's life was the death of him and his nakama at the hands of other pirates, who said we wouldn't get a flashback of it later? Maybe it was a specific group of pirates that killed him that he wants vengence against. Or perhaps he had some dream that these pirates tried to take away from him. Most likely the latter since it's been many years since Brook's death and the other pirates might be dead.

It would be fun if those pirates were Roger's or WhiteBeard's crew, from a long time ago. That way he would know Shanks or some others.

And it IS still possible that he's connected with Aokiji. Imagine a chapter were the two of them meet.

And its not completely impossible that his dream had to do with his grandchild.

I see your point, Gorlom, but this is OP's world, I think Oda might have thought that, after returning him to life (even as a walking skeleton), the fruit would have no reason to be.

I mean, even with a DF, there is no logical explanation to why he is able to drink tea and eat and move without any muscles. Im just adding a bit more of _logic to the situation.

But I know that, either way, we'll see if he's still afected by the ocean or not in chapters to come. Still, I find that "ocean walking" a good proof to my side of view._

IRCC Oda has mentioned that the weakening effect of the sea is proportional to the percentage of body submerged. rain and waves splashing over the railing has no effect. So imo it's kinda the same as Aokiji walking on the ocean, while its frozen when he does it its still the ocean. No DF user will be weakened enough to fall in while they are still on the ocean.

On a worldwide level, they are all the "sea." When these people enter the water, not only can they not use their powers, they have trouble moving their bodies at all. They might be able to struggle a bit, but it wouldn't do much good. That's if their entire bodies are submerged in the "sea." With less than half the body or just the limbs, it gets easier. Also, rain and dripping water have no effect at all. Therefore, hip baths or showers are the most common choice.

in the bottom right panel, while he isnt walking on the ice he defintly is standing on it letting it support part of his weight so he doesnt fall over.

can we focus on the part in the SBS where it says DF users wont loose their powers unless they are submerged now that we got the nitpicking out of the way?

Good point, Gorlom. But I want you to notice what is said at Chapter 443, by Brooks, at page 06 and 07. In my translation, it says:

"While I was living, I couldnt swin, because of the Yomi-Yomi fruit, but… unexpectedly, on that day, the true devil's fruit ability went into action."

For me, this phrase shows pretty much that NOW, that he is "dead", and that he already used the "devil's fruit true ability", he can swin.

Yeah but seriously, the power of the DF is still kicking in and keeping him alive for a second time. It won't be used until he dies again. So he can't swim. Thats why he ran instead (man I can't believe we're arguing when Oda's given the answer already in the story),.

I've been wondering. If Brook does become an SH, what do you think his first bounty will be and where do you think he would fit in terms of strength? I think that he would be between Robin and Franky in terms of strength, IMO. He has proven to be fairly strong, stronger than the "weak trio", but I don't think he's quite as strong as the big 3, though. As for bounty, maybe somewhere around 40-50 mil like Franky. Can't really tell if it will be lower or higher, though, as of yet.

If Brooke has a direct confrontation with Moria (and escapes uharmed/not harmed to the point that it satisfies Moria), the big giant just might try to pull some strings in order to get Brooke a bounty.

I thought of that, too. It's a high possibility, but if he had a bounty, still, what would it be? I think he'll need a new one since the old one probably has skin. and they may have assumed him dead.
