Oh yeah, we'd better finally find out what C.C.'s real name is. I was expecting it to be revealed during R2 15 or the episodes where her memory was wiped, but I guess that wasn't dramatic enough…
Code Geass

-
Oh snap seven minutes till the beginning of the end. Can't wait to see how the train wreck ends.
-
Here we go here we go HERE WE GO!! SHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
-
! Uh, did Suzaku just get killed before the first commercial break? Looks like Lelouch is going to take over the world with SoW. Also, I'm going to Lol loud if they force the Kallen x Gino thing.
edit: OH CRAP, WHAT A TWIST.
edit: lame, my stream just crapped out.
! 1. Lelouch Geases Nunnally to give him the magic button, and then just leaves her pathetically begging him to stop.
2. Kallen and Suzaku fight, ends with a draw with Suzaku exploding, and Gino saving Kallen.
3. Lelouch uses FLEYA to force the world to surrender, everyone hates him now.
4. On his victory march Lelouch has all the Blacknights, and enemy brittanis chained up. Nunnally is chained to to the float that he's riding on.
5. Suddenly, ZERO!
6. Oh snap Suzaku faked his death!
7. Uh-oh, looks like everyone finally realized Lelouch's true intentions. I guess we found out why Suzaku was following lelouch, eh?
8. Suzaku kills Lelouch, everyone that knows the truth cries, everyone else cheers.
9. Kallen returns to Ashford school, keeps her hair in spiky mode.
10. Lelouch is talking to CC from Jupiter.
11. We never found out CC's name. Lol
12. Shows a wedding picture of Ohgi and Villetta. Also KallenXGino. So neither CC nor Kallen? Not even homolust end. Goddamn I'd hate to be a shipper right now.
! edit: The stream I was watching switched to Haruhi porn, oh wow
edit2: Also I feel really bad about Lelouch. His life sucked balls, and he gets sliced down with everyone in the world hating him, by his best friend no doubt. -

I know right?
! So much for that good end for Lelouch, huh?
edit: I just love how they managed to let EVERYONE live but Lelouch, and then give them happy endings on top of that. Goddamn Sunrise has surpassed all of my expectations.
! Edit: Going to bed now, but I forgot to mention how manly Orange was this episode. He took Anya out by having his KNF blow up TWICE, and then jumping down onto her KMF (keep in mind he jumped out of his KMF while it was exploding) and forcing her to surrender. He then becomes an ORANGE farmer. Hardcore. Suzaku can also dodge bullets and do crazy flips 'n stuff, but what else is new? Well it was fun while it lasted, eventhough this was not my ideal ending -
I'm sorry I don't curse hardly at all (for real) but
FUCK YOU SUNRISE
-
what an awful series
-
-
auw noo. i don't wanna hear that. :\ guys. i'm scared.
does lelouch die or something. no don't tell me. I still gotta see for myself.
-
I saw it proper.
I'm still fuming. What is with the Japanese and these "inconclusive" ends? Gosh, it just annoys the heck out of people. -_-
-
! Fucking great.
! The only character that actually deserved to have a happy ending got killed.
! By fucking SUZAKU.
! I was going to end up buying the whole series, but now… hell no. Fuck this shit. -
Ugh, am I the only one who couldn't log in today? It said the server kept timing out… Well, here's my take on everything...
! Well, a part of me did feel that Lelouch wouldn't get out of the show alive, and he knew it. He had spilt too much blood. Though I didn't expect Suzaku to be the one to kill him; I was expecting him to go out during his final fight with Karen.
! Speaking of that fight, I enjoyed it immensely. I saw it as a throw back to R1, before everyone had Flightpacks. It also made be wonder why trying to sever the Slash Harkens was never a tactic. The art also seemed similar to R1; it wasn't as jagged and the colors seemed a little softer than usual. I also enjoyed Jeremiah being a massive ham and badass. I laughed so hard when he pulled a Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and kept leaping out of his Knightmare.
! The epilogue was alright, I suppose. I just kind of wish we had learned what C.C.'s real name was. All it would've taken was a ten second scene of her meeting up with that farmer.
! So in short, I guess I was satisfied with how the show went out. It's definitely not the greatest anime ever, but it did have some superb visuals and haunting music. Some more exposition on the show's meta-physical side would have been nice, since most of it is very vague, and aside from speculation, we really don't know where Geass came from exactly. Still, it was entertaining, so despite all of its numerous problems, I enjoyed myself, and that is all I ask a show to do. -
The ending wouldn't have pissed me off so much…well, scratch that, it would have pissed me off anyway because in a show that thrives on twist, the ultimate twist was a predictable ending where everyone was expecting something unpredictable, thus it was a surprise.
Such an ending basically invalidates the past 10 episodes of show, because it is ultimately the same ending as if Zero had overthrown the original Britannian Emperor - the Britannians weren't quite as worse off as they were under Lelouch, but the nobles still dominated society at every level and inequality was promoted and flaunted. At least in Lelouch's world, people were equally oppressed.
! So, Lelouch's death felt quite unnecessary. Even if it's because he killed too many people, or Geassed people, merely look at butchers like Kallen and Suzaku who enforced the will of their superiors far more brutally than Lelouch himself did. Lelouch takes the blame for everything, Simon's personal tragedy is almost NOTHING in comparison to how bad Lelouch had it, and Lelouch ended up worse for wear in the end.
! Perhaps the biggest FUDGE YOU was the toyed idea of Lelouch being alive at the end as R.R., giving the series no solid closure regarding the one character people actually cared about. None of the Black Knights deserved to live, yet they were given a free pass by Lelouch - it really was a horrible, poor tasting end. Not just because I like Lelouch, but because it was illogical, unnecessary, and suggests the wrong morals (like, global conquest is a good thing?).Ultimately, the series as a whole is mediocre. Some episodes are just meh, others great, others terrible. R1 was much more consistent and better written despite the marketing influences.
I think I've had enough of Sunrise anime for a decade or so.
-
watched the sub
! I'm quite satisfied with this end. Everyone seems to be bitching quite a bit.. but that's what happens when you watch a raw… you are left with many many questions.
! For some reason this is the only episode where I enjoyed Nannully. She actually seemed like a character for once. And an applause goes to her seiyu for giving a wonderful performance with Lulu's death.
! speaking of which, Lelouch's death was great... and his plan went.. well, "Just as planned". He unified the world and brought joy and peace with the destruction of a symbol of hatred. And when his sister saw his thoughts, she realized all of what he was really doing. he received his final wish of creating a world for her. Hell it's implied that even Kallen and probably most of the black knights now realize what he was doing. He is now a hero in the hearts of the people who were closest to him. And even if some don't realize what he did, they are still happy now anyway.
! Yeah.. some plot devices burn away in the atmosphere of this ending.. but it wrapped up what mattered most. I really don't give a damn what C.C's real name is. I could care less about Kallen's brother. Rivalz and Milly AINT getting together. Li Xingke will probably die from whatever it is that is making him cough up blood... whoop de doo.
! Jeremiah was also noteworthy for being badass and an orange farmer at the end!
! As for Suzaku killing Lulu. I know what you are thinking... but it really made sense. The dialogue is important here. Lelouch says that the mask of Zero is as much a death to Suzaku as Lelouch's own death as Suzaku will never be able to live as himself and now must sacrifice his own happiness for the world.
! oh... and who the hell do you think that farmer is at the end who C.C. is traveling with eh?
! C.C- turns he head up to talk to the driver, "Right Lelouch?"
! ...come on, she wasn't just talking to the sky now was she? -

I think I've had enough of Sunrise anime for a decade or so.
This. They also left out so much, and didn't really have that good of a closure on some of the characters (Kallen, CC, Loydd+Rakashata or however you spell her name, among others) I thought, and then that ambiguous ending about Lelouch. FFFFFFFFF. They even went out of their way to revive Guliford for happy Cornelia ending. I really wonder how the show would have turned out if Taniguchi had his way.
-
Well, seeing as the original plan had some apparent gender-bending, I dunno. To be honest, I would like to see or read what the full plan was for comparison's sake.
I feel people are looking into the hayride thing too much. I don't really see how it's ambiguous. Most likely scenario is that C.C's just talking aloud, or we have a Marianne situation. Seriously, Lelouch being alive would completely undermine the purpose of his whole plan. It's just wishful thinking.
-
From what I've been told a lot of Sunrise anime end the same way, Bebop apparently too with the all-too famous SPIKE DIES situation. Apparently it's not clear it Spike died or survived either, and the truth was left hanging and will never be answered. However, GaoGaiGar (which I've seen in full) didn't end on an ambiguous note and Taniguchi worked on that, too. GGG ended completely conclusive except ONE plot-line that was left unresolved, and was fixed in FINAL.
I've never seen Bebop in full so almost all my knowledge is second hand, but from what I've heard Spike's final fight with Vicious was a pretty large non-sequitur to the series at large. Geass handled its ending better than simply having Spike remember he has a rival then going to do battle with said rival on the first Tuesday of the month; however, it still felt unnecessary given Lelouch's victory in Turn 21. Things could have been resolved diplomatically from that point on, but Lelouch seemed determined to martyr himself and that mentality isn't right. Afterall, that's what Suzaku was doing for almost all season 1, and wasn't the show's conclusion "that's not right, Suzaku?".
-
Meh, that's all I can say.
! I didn't like how Lelouch had to die to make every else happy. And killed by SUZAKU. >:(
Overall, I find the series to be average. Not great, but not horrible.
Also Orange was pretty badass. :O
-
best fucking anime ever that ending was fucking great and fuck everyone that said anything negative about the ending.
-

I think I've had enough of Sunrise anime for a decade or so.
Well you knew what you were getting into before all this.
-
I don't think I did, really.
The only Sunrise show I've seen since Big O in full was GGG, and I didn't watch BO season 2 because I knew it sucked.
I've put Planetes on hold for LOTGH but really, I'm considering just deleting it now so I won't get confronted with an ending like this. Not that the Planetes characters are "larger than life" though.
-
I think you're mistaken there.
Gainax is the studio with the record of eternal shitty endings(except Gunbuster), not Sunrise.
Not to say that this wasn't shit though, because it most definitely was.
-

Big O season 2 was okay it was the complexity that ruined it along with the Deus Ex ending.

Well if you have imaginasian TV you can always watch it there free up some disc space in the process.
-
Well, no reason for me to buy any Dvd's now. ._.
-
…. well the whole second season was BS
i hope the manga is better than this Sh*t fest.
i swear, i cried at how bad the end was.

That was a beautiful and brave thing Lelouch did for the world. And yes, looking back on it now, he had to do all that bizarre crap that made everybody hate him. Even if he was ruling britania, britania was the problem, and all the politics mixed in with it. He had to totally demolish britania in order for things to be fair, and equal to the rest of the world. (think back to the episode where he tried to join the UN or whatever it's called. they wouldn't let him, cause he was too powerful as a nation)
As for my take with CC at the end. ya, Lelouch is dead, she was speaking to him from beyond the dead, like people do sometimes when they miss people who have died. Pretending they are still there to listen.
It would have been nice if the sub plots for season 2 made a little more sense and actually went somewhere. This ending tied things up not too bad though. It WOULD have been nice though, to see the "true" story
oh ya, and BOOYA NUNNALLY! HA take that all you nunnally haters. Nunnally was cool in that last episode.
-
Lelouch should have CC contract after he fulfilled everything right???? So he could still be alive.
-
The only way he'd be alive is if he got V.V.'s code somehow, C.C. probably still has hers though it is possible she gave him hers.
-
''Knight the Zero'' Nice Engrish.
I did kinda find Arthur sitting in front of Suzaku's grave to be a bit sad.
-
I hope they come out with a Code Geass R3
-
Taniguchi said that it'll never happen.
-
now that I think about it… what about the possibility of Lelouch having Charle's code? I'd have to watch the episode again and pay more attention.. but Lulu could have been immortal the entire time. Or he's dead... which is fine either way.
Ever since Spike, i've been able to handle awesome characters dieing if it made sense to the story and ultimately was a means to end a plot... which in the case of code geass most definitely happened.
@Crossword- Arthur in front of Suzaku's "grave" was really sad.
btw- Like it or not, in the end Suzaku was finally was able to "stab" Lelouch!
-

There's some evidence about it, but mostly speculation at this point. The primary idea is Nunnally couldn't have seen Lelouch's memories unless he had a Code, Lelouch's Code wouldn't activate unless he died (hence why C.C. in the flashback was stabbed by the nun, and why Charles had to shoot himself in the World of C) and that Charles had physical contact with Lelouch while Lelouch had his fully evolved Geass in the World of C, enough time to transfer the code and screw over Lelouch should he succeed (or maybe it was a gift…who knows).
Finally there's the title, which is pronounced R2, like how C.C. and V.V. are pronounced. So Lelouch would end up "R.R." for "Rurushu Ramperouji".
I wish things were less ambiguous than that, though. Maybe something like the cloaked wagon driver nod his head or something.
-
I was just wondering the people that said this ending sucked and what ever other bull shit was spewing out yall mouths how did yall want it to end???
I wish things were less ambiguous than that, though. Maybe something like the cloaked wagon driver nod his head or something.
its better than them cutting to black mid sentence although I know what you're saying S-cry-ED ended like that also.
-
I still think that the fans are over-speculating this. I feel that this is should be a suitable explanation for the scene towards the end:
You know how Nunnally can tell the state of a person's mind by taking their pulse, like if they are nervous she can tell that they're lying? Well, when she took Lelouch's hand, she could tell that he completely calm, as if expecting this, whereupon she put two and two together, that he wanted to die, and the memory flashes were there for the benefit of us the audience and for effect.
I really don't think the ending in regards to Lelouch is that ambigious. Plus, if he was really still alive, people would be howling for another season, which is most definitely the last thing Taniguchi wants. and having the main protagonist die off puts a dampener on that.
-
auw, just accept that lelouch died. I watched the live action death note yesterday,
! L plans his own death by writing his own death in the death note, in order to outwit light. That was easy to accept. I feel this ending is a lot the same
-

The reason why I won't accept that Lelouch died is because of Jeremiah halved ass attempt to stop Suzaku. Mixed in with the fact they were farming and where CC was riding the wagon and toss in the fact that the pink here girl was farming with jeremiah.
-
It's pretty clear that Jeremiah was in on the whole thing. He urged Suzaku on, and he's visibly smiling before he orders the retreat.
-
I don't look at things that way.
-

Yea and we saw how devoted he was to lelouch before I don't think he would just let him be killed.
I don't look at things that way.
How do you look at them then./
-
I'm pretty firmly in the "Lelouch is alive" camp, since at the core of things making him dead without some hints that he's alive would be too conclusive for a Sunrise anime. Yes, the door also opens from inside. D:
-
! why are you gits actually sad about Lelouch kicking the bucket
! I honestly thought it was well justified
! the guy was turning into some douche heading into total dictatorship and he knew it too
! so he asked Suzaku to put him out of his misery
! -
Not a very graceful way to die.
-
Actually, it was. Extremely dramatic and well choreographed on Lelouch's part; if Diethard were alive he'd have been ecstatic Lelouch put on a show to the last.
And Daisuke, that's now how things played out at all. >_>
-
@Sandai:
Not a very graceful way to die.
there's no grace in death what is that british bitch like having triplets she was fucking huge also where was the maid at in the end???

it wasn't half assed, suzaku is just that good. That scene with CC, had nothing to do with Lelouch, IMO. It's just a scene with CC. And what does the farming with Jerimiah, and the pink girl have to do with lelouch. :)
-

suzaku isn't that good ….... jeremiah had a smile on his face. I watch the last episode twice !!! Lelouch is alive ALL HAIL EMPEROR LELOUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
A lot of people have said this but I personally felt Suzaku was at his finest in this episode. His original beliefs triumphed overall but also so did Lelouch's, creating an odd turn of events.
Suzaku was really similar to Emiya Shirou so much that in 2006 I noted this, but like Shirou's inability to do anything Suzaku's ability to thwart everything was just as annoying. He needed to be tempered and Euphemia's death and all the stuff in R2 seemed to do the trick.
I hope the Geass R2 DVD sales are high enough so we get Code Geass ~something more beautiful~ or some kind of OVa that takes place in space 150 years from now with LELOUCH AND C.C. PILOTING SUPER GALACTIC GURREN-GAWAIN to defeat the Anti-Geass in a pataphysical niche between the 10th and 11th dimensions.

thank you thank you! now I can go to bed.
Although I don't know if I could see Lelouch doing awesome, spur of the moment, epic, human spirit speeches.
and Arthur would be his sidekick beastman
