Or maybe because this volume is Zoro centric?
That to…. But for some reason I think people that read one piece in america like Zoro better then Luffy.
Is there a set date to when Volume 2 will come out. And will volume 3 come out this year?
Volume two is our 9/23 volume three is not yet announced.

They probably do, if 4Kids.tv's poll thing from years ago are any indication.
It's easy to understand why people here in america like Zoro better… He has swords and arguably is the biggest "badass" of the crew. That's what american fans like
I think 4kids fans prefer Zoro because he had the only "good" voice and he was handled the best in that dub. overall in the fanbase, I think Luffy is still the most popular character in the series.
I'm sorry, while the voice actor for Zoro may have been a tad more capable than the others, his portrayal of Zoro, in my opinion was god-awful. It just didn't match at all.
Yeah, because they gave him god-awful lines.
I'm sure if Marc could've gotten better directors he would've been a great Zoro. Although, it's all opinion in the end.
I think he was good the few times he was permitted to act like Zoro. And I'm not just saying that because he was the only "decent" voice in the 4Kids dub.
@Yuugi's:

I'd say it's more Sanji-centric, but meh.
Well, the Mihawk duel and Zoro's background are in the set so…I don't know...
And it also is Usopp centeric with the 2nd half of Kuro arc, which inculdes his flashback story as well.

I agree which is why the "good" was in quotes…-_-

Gotcha. I guess I'm bad at sensing online sarcasm
You could also argue that it is Nami-centric because she disappears for most of the set…
Oh, wait... I dunno how to play this game :(

That would actually make her not centric considering she just leaves. Nami doesn't really do anything of importance til the Arlong arc.
One Piece is back in the top ten again on Rightstuf.

I wonder if Sanji has his cigarette on the cover, I can't tell but he probably doesn't. (Some places probably wouldn't display it or something if he did.)

I checked the high quality version I downloaded from AoD, and his cigarette is definitely there. It's pretty small though, so it makes sense that it wouldn't show on a lower resolution-image.
I don't know if this was mentioned yet, but a Second Voyage ad was in the new Jump and it said SV will go up to episode 26.

Edit: Ok, I seen it was mentioned already.
Yep it was mentioned.
Hopefully righstuf will send the pre-order before the official release date like last time, I at least hope so  .
From Lance at Toon Zone:
@lheiskell:
Alternate angles were dropped partially to up bit-rate, since we are displaying the opening and closing twice and some people got tired of having that "alternate angles" icon on their screen with out the option to remove the icon. We do include the clean opening and closings. If you want original title cards and Japanese credits as an extra, let me know and I'll talk with production to see if we can add that.
EDIT: You guy's could maybe register or to post your feelings in our thread or something…and I'm totally not trying to get your to post regularly on our super special awesome forums...ohay I am, but come on it's my birthday cut me some slack.

That seems like a pretty logical reason, but I still think it would have been better if they just left the title-cards in japanese in the first place… Ah well, at least it's better than in Dragonball Z, where the english titles are completely different from the japanese ones, thus creating a huge gap between what is said and what is shown on-screen. In this case, it's more like just a minor edit I don't see the point in. But if they include the japanese episode-titles and credits (for both the opening and ending) as extras, then that'll be good enough for me. Or, actually, it's "good enough" already, but if they do that, I won't have any real problems with the release anymore, so I hope they'll do that from Third Voyage and on. (As I assume that the Second Voyage discs are already being printed, what with the release-date being less than a month away, and how almost all of us got First Voyage early.)
Well, take nothing or take the peanut.

This would be fine…
But's they've also lowered the quality of their audio from 256kbps to 192Kbps on new releases... Also, their is still around 600MB left on the DVD-9s even if you do that...and on products like Detective Conan which now has no 5.1ch there is slightly more...
If they are 'uping' the bitrate, shouldn't there be less space? :wassat:
I don't see why it's an issue. The first DVD set was perfect as is. :\

Not really. It was great, but it wasn't without its flaws. They should have had three discs instead of two, (Though it's not a problem yet, it could be once the source-material stops looking like crap) and the lack of the japanese title-cards and logo (Yes, I'll bring this up as many times as I want, because I feel that it IS a negative aspect worth mentioning, though it might get fixed now) was also slightly annoying. But if they start including the japanese credits and title-cards in the DVD-extras, then the only real problem would be the disc-count… maybe.
But I still wouldn't call it "perfect". "Perfect" is like the limited edition release of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, which had an awesome box, great quality, cool extras, (well, the CDs at least) and had the episodes in the order they were shown on japanese TV, something not even the japanese got for their DVD-release. THAT is perfect, or at least about as close as one can get. Of course, I'll buy the DVDs even if they don't feature a bunch of extras and fancy, sturdy artboxes, but stuff like that can make a good release fantastic, so it would be cool if FUNi were to do that.
Well, there's still room for them as an extra on the set but I know people are sick of the little cameras popping up on the screen to notify them of an extra angle so I don't see them going back to those.

While I don't mind the camera-icons that much, I can see how people would be annoyed. But I'd be perfectly happy if FUNi did what all the other anime-companies do: Translate the credits in the opening and ending, and leave everything else as it is. That way, there would be no edited logo, the title-cards would still be in japanese, yet the dub-watchers would have no problems understanding them because Luffy reads them out loud anyway. But if they do end up putting that stuff in the extras, then I'm satisfied, and the only real complaint I'd still have would be that it's two discs per set instead of 3. I believe you can get thinpaks with room for two discs in them, so adding a third disc might not even increase the size of the sets.

Can't you turn off the logo? I'm pretty sure I saw on option to switch it off on my DVD player.
Well seemingly not. As for the disc count, they make more money by only using two discs.
Yeah, the angle icon bugs me on their older DBZ releases. I always tried to see if I could turn it off, never succeeded. Tho my newer DVD player I'm not sure if I noticed it on the Movie 8 DVD which did have alternate angles… maybe it doesn't display it. I'll have to test that sometime.
I don't see how people are complaining that they put them all on two nice little disc. If they put 13 episodes on 3 Disc, that would be huge overkill. I'm mean you might as well take off the marathon feature too, because 4(5) episodes per disc wouldn't even be worth it.

Eh? … Is this sarcasm? Forgive me if it is. But how is putting 13 episodes on three discs overkill but putting 13 episodes on two discs not overkill? That makes no sense at all. If they were spread across three discs then there would be less episodes per discs and the quality would be better. The reason people are complaining about it only being two discs is because there are more episodes per discs as a result so the quality drops. I was never really a fan of the marathon mode to be honest, but it's use would make just as much sense even if it were 4-5 episodes per discs. That's about two hours of anime right there. I haven't found much of anything in this post that makes sense. =/

It's not sarcasm that he had. He, like many people, can't really tell the quality difference. Therefore keeping the number of discs to a minimum is a better deal to him than putting less episodes on a disc. Not sure how that was so hard to understand or realize.
I hardly can tell the quality anyways, so the discs are fine what they are to me.

I agree, although some of the spinning and fast moments look cheap and fake.

I understand that but what he said made no sense. He implied that putting 13 episodes on three discs would be major overkill but putting 13 episodes on two discs wouldn't. His logic was completely backwards so I had to ask. Putting 4-5 episodes on a disc is fine. But 7-8 is pushing it and that could cause problems later. First Voyage and movie8 were fine, so I'm not complaining. Yet.
I'm a huge fan of Box Sets. I freakin' hate box sets like FLCL that has 6 episodes, that need have only 2 episodes on the disc. Or Clerks: The Animated Series that has 3 episodes on the a disc, and it's only 6 episodes long.
If they're gonna make One Piece into a 3 Disc Set, they need to up the amount of episodes, or just have a disc chalk full of bonis features.
By the way, I'm in an Animation College training to be a Animator. So I know quality animation.

… Yes. But they aren't talking about animation, they're talking about DVD's and MPEG compression. When you can explain, off the top of your head, I, B, and P frames and bit-rate related to compression artifacting... like I had to learn in college, come back and talk to us.
That being said, right now the sets look fine. I'm not really sure what shape the source material was/is in but as of right now it looks fine. (Noting that, once again, some of that rainbowing and such might be on the masters Funi was given.) When they get to the higher quality later episodes then they'll probably have to lower the disc count. (Or switch to blu-ray at the rate of release speed.)
Yeah, even I heard that they were rainbowing on the japansee dvds of these episodes.

It was. Judging from the creditless openings and endings I've got on my PC, it seems like it gets better once the second opening starts.
what's rainbowing?
The lines of the picture getting a multi-color effect on them.

Not that I've been keeping up to date with One Piece news, but since there hasn't been much activity here and there hasn't been any news of OP returning to television, can we pretty much assume that OP is screwed as far as television, and the only thing we're going to get now is the DVDs?

Pretty much. I wouldn't count on it returning any time soon if at all. If it does come back then we'll see what happens. But losing sleep over it and complaining about it isn't gonna change that. I've pretty much accepted that it won't get back on TV. Though I'm not saying it's impossible that it will.
I could care less about the quality, as long as I get my One Piece, I'm happy. No reason to BAWWW over Funi's low-quality sets when FUNi didn't have to bring you OP in the first place.
