To be honest I'm starting to consider not buying the volumes anymore. It's just going far too slow. I'd probably just be better off sticking with the scans and not going through the hassle of buying the volumes any longer.

The DVDs would probably be a more worth it buy in any case.
But heck by the time I'm 30 we'll be just getting to the start of the Water 7 arc. Collecting the manga volumes at this pace. Just isn't worth it anymore.

I guess but that's really not the point. I just figure with the 40 or 50 dollars I spend on manga every month. I could use that money on other things. Honestly I wanna support the companies and everything but the way things are going it's a waste of my time to be honest.

Meh I like collecting them too but I could use that money for other stuff like video games I'd wanna play or something that's important. I never even read the books I buy anyways. I just stock them in plastic containers and leave them there.

I was feeling bad because I stopped buying them because the releases were slow and JUMP was so far ahead of the volumes. But when I saw most of the volumes at Borders, I ended up updating my collection. I'm gonna try to buy every volume when they come out. Lets see, the next volume has Koza and "Sanji-imitating" Luffy (Oct), Vol. 20 has a map of everyone converging on Alubarna (Feb), and then Vol. 21 is when they have the Baroque Works lined up (April) and then Vol. 22 is when all the Straw Hats + Vivi and Karue(?) are lined up (July). Volume 23 with smiling Vivi and all the strawhats in panels is after that (Oct). So crocodile will be defeating next fall and Robin will join the crew in 2010. Fun
When you predict the schedule like that… it makes it even worse. :(

It could have been worse. They could have been printed in awful quality, with a translation based off another translation which again was a translation of yet another translation, and they could have messed up about every single name in the entire damn series and had the dialogue placed in the wrong speech-bubbles, with some god-awful grammar to top it off. Yes, such a translation actually DOES exist. I'm able to tolerate Viz's occasional 4Kids-terms or otherwise awkward name-changes because apart from that, their translation is at least tolerable.

Naruto, Bleach and Death Note get more because Viz pays for it. FUNimation is really only in charge of the Anime and DVDs.

I'd be content if we got the volumes faster. I mean I'm dissapointed Hunter x Hunter doesn't get the recognition I feel it deserves but at least we get six volumes a year. I'd be willing to trade a large portion of the extras One Piece gets (which granted never get a UK release anyway) for six volumes a year.
Good enough is fine because of what we had before. Prior to what we currently have, all we were stuck with was a horrific dub, dub-only DVDs, cut episodes and treatment like a failed kid's franchise. What we have now is amazing…but OP fans just feel second-rate because of what other Jump properties in this country get due to being dealt a better hand, including a good dub from the get-go and recognition beyond the otaku.
I hate that Naruto, Bleach and DN have it good...but at least OP has somehow overcome some of its prior difficulties brought on by the 4Kids era...even if CN now forgets the show exists (like they do with pretty much nearly all actiony/anime series outside in-house productions...heck even Naruto gets no hype anymore) and we never see any really cool "crap" akin to what the Viz-lead franchises get. (though at least Bleach may calm down a bit if the rumors of the dub ending after the Bount is true..but they had it good and could end up coming back later)
Those special edition volumes don't even come with anything new, they're just hardcover issues. As for the box sets for the Manga, they have far more volumes released. Not to mention they are Viz Anime titles. Stop expecting Viz to give us the world when you know they don't have as much stake.
We already have 3 One Piece shirts, if that counts for anything. I read somewhere Funi is working on merchandising rights, and we have uncut DVDs coming out at a fairly quick pace.
Sure, Bleach, Naruto, and Death Note all have their own merch, but most of it is trinkets and cheap crap little kids and obsessed otaku will buy. Whoo.
Oh, and Naru-tards get replica Naruto jackets and Kakashi jackets, so they can look like complete morons whenever the feel like it.
OP is doing pretty well right now. The fanbase takes a lot of things for granted, it seems. Three years ago, we thought we'd never have a decent dub. And by the way the DVDs are selling, I don't think being on TV matters.

Cartoon Network is just "business as usual" and have been for a few years now. They get a series on TV and hope its a hit. If it is, they inundate you with it for a year or two until its freshness has worn off, then end it so they can hit with the next thing. No nurturing, no "run until its done" or running what they feel like reinvigorating, no care for what worked in the past (Toonami's dismantling)…just "business as usual". (which sadly OP is part of)
I was disappointed with the two chapters we got this time. I thought that they were going to do three so that next month we would be set up for 30 Million VS 81 Million. Boy was I surprised. I thought that they had planned it out that way. At any rate, the volumes are being produced S…..l....o...w...l...y......, but soon the second season will be out. Still though, I was really disappointed that they stopped where they did.
