Nintendo is remaking the first Fire Emblem game(with Marth) on the DS
here are some pictureshttp://www.onlineplayer.jp/modules/gallery/view_album.php?set_albumName=albus93If they translate it into english I will be pleased. Just so long as they don't screw up Navahl's name, keep Jeigan lame, and for the love of God, LET MARTH PROMOTE SO HE CAN BE USEFUL, I shall be more pleased.
Marth appears to be wearing pants in this game as well. THANK YOU NINTENDO!!!

So they're remaking a game that's already been remade? Damn, I was hoping for something new. All well, hopefully we'll get this one translated, I want some girly-man action.
-
Hm, to be honest I was hoping this meant FE3 (the FE1 remake + second part) was going to be DSized, but I guess this is good enough.
I really hope it comes here, but the last five have, so I don't see why it wouldn't. And of course the added online is welcome.
-
I prayed for this day to come.
-
woooooooooooo! The announcement of this and the new Advance Wars has completely made my day!
-
Excellent! While I would have liked an original adventure, I'm glad they're porting some of the earlier games. Looking forward to this one.
-
never played it so this should be something i might pick up for gameplay
-
Do give it a try, considering you're an Ike fan.

I'm a pretty big Fire Emblem fan. But I have to say, Path Of Radiance was underwhelming at best (haven't played the sequel, haven't got a Wii) and I really don't like the prerendered look of the graphics. Still, if the gameplay's as good as the GBA games this'll be a guaranteed purchase.
-
You didn't like Path of Radiance? So far I'm like the game, and I love the cutscenes, even if they come like every 6 hours…

I haven't played the sequel to Path of Radiance either, but according to my brother, it is extremely difficult to beat. As for the remake, I hope it gets translated and sent across the seas.

I would agree that Radiant Dawn is harder than Path of Radiance. However, I think it's moreso because it's so damn long and can wear you out. Of course, in the final level it just gets insane.
I too hope FE DS comes out over here, but I'm a litte concerned that we still haven't heard word of an American release yet.

Same. I'm sure they'll announce it eventually, as I do believe it has some level of popularity over here in the west.
-
If I weren't a Ranulf (and several other characters) fan, I wouldn't have liked PoR either.
RD is fantastic though.
Excited for this one. The graphics surprised me.

That's the thing about the Fire Emblem series. Each game has such a wide cast of characters that you're bound to like at least one of them. Even more amazingly, you'll remember everything single one of the cast of usually 30+ characters.
-
Heck, that was one of the reasons I like Fire Emblem, with all the characters and their own personality and all. Plus I like the setting, and I really love the art.
Found a character with your name yet?
All I'll say is that mine was a swordmaster in…yeah right, like it'd tell which game he's from -
Mine is from a chapter I haven't played. He's an archer. (I've played all the ones that came to America).
Wil (from FE7) looks a lot like me.

Nope. I've played all Fire Emblem games that have come to America and I haven't seen a character that shares the same name as me. Which is weird since I have a pretty uncommon name, as do most of the Fire Emblem cast.
-
My name is sort of shared with a character.
[hide]For those curious, Eirika from Sacred Stones.[/hide]
-
are there screens for this yet? i was a little turned off by the wii FE. but this ds one might be good.
-
-
SEXY!
(11 characters)
-
chock full of marthy goodness
-
They look great. Now I really hope it'll be released over here.
-
Me Too! Thanks Sandai!

definitly will.
since i never played this series before, is the gameplay like FFTA or Romance of the 3 kingdoms?
-
I'm going for Joshua
I wish. He was dang quick in Sacred Stones.
(think one game ahead ;) ) -

(think one game ahead ;) )Karel?
Or wait, is it Guy?
-
That's one game behind.
I believe it's Stefan.

Oh, well when he said ahead, I thought he meant ahead as in before as in Fire Emblem came ahead of Sacred Stones.

Ack. I confused you with my poor choice of words.
I meant as in the first GBA FE game that came to the States ;)

Ah, so I was right. So if it's not Karel or Guy then I guess it's Lloyd or Linus (I think one of them was a swordmaster)
-
man i dont know, it doesnt look that good to me. Ive never played a handheld fire emblem. I only played and beat Path Of Radiance and Radiant Dawn

Well, if you can even find a copy, you should give 'em a try, they're actually quite good. Overall, they're pretty similar to PoR and RD and, in a way, it's because they're handheld and 2-D that makes them…well not necessariy better, but they do have some sort of comfortable and aesthetic appeal to them. Eh, I guess you have to play for yourself to find out. Also, if you want a break from the Fire Emblem games sometimes absurd difficulty, Sacred Stones is actually really easy (comparatively speaking)
-
I think it was just easy overall, since you could just spend all day in the Tower of Valni and level up characters if you wanted to. But that's just plain boring, now isn't it?

I wasn't really too big on the play style of Fire Emblem or Advance Wars played them now I can't get enough

Got the game, like it so far. I hate that you have to sacrifice a character in the prologue and you apparently never see them again. I didn't know what was going on and just had Jeigan do it. All well, he's just as useless in this game as he always was, so I guess I'm better off.

Oh, you got the Japanese Fire Emblem DS? If so, nice.
-
What!? Not Fair! Argh! This is the only problem with being unable to read a foreign language (even though the problem is somewhat easy to fix)!
-
I plan to get myself intrested in this series( i missed out on alot as a kid)
should I start with Sacred stones, FE1, Path of Radience,or the Fire Emblem Wii game? -
Sacred Stones and FE7 (or simply Fire Emblem) are the best games to start with in my opinion. I find it easier to get into the portable versions before tackling the GC and Wii ones.

thank you.
adds Sacred stones to rental list -
Once you decide to start on the console FE, I recommend that you start with Path of Radiance especially since 1) Path of Dawn is its sequel, 2) I hear it's easier to beat than the sequel, and 3) you'll understand any references made in the sequel. Note: I have not played the sequel yet, so I can't confirm what I have heard with experience.

Update:
Game will be coming stateside next year (not bad for everyone)
til then enjoy some pics of the english translation
