Code Geass
-
-
Well I finally saw episode 2 and I think I will stick with it as it continues. I still can't stand the cheapness of Geass and Lelouch remains a Light ripoff with a chess obsession, but the mech battles were impressive and I actually am starting to find a couple of the characters interesting such as Suzaku and the female head of the resistance.
-
I guess last night was the second episode. I watched that and it wasn't bad, I'll continue to watch and hope its good.
-
All right. Now this may be just me, but I believe there was some fanservice in that newest episode. Just a little bit :P
-
wholey #&*! terek, you were right about nunnally!
! but she's too young to be a governer
-
I watched the dub of episode 1 on youtube last night, and the second episode last night on AS.
I'll stick with it, but here's the cons for me:
1. Mecha; I heard mecha isn't used much in the series and is more like Eureka Seven. I have yet to get that vibe from the first 2 episodes.
2. Lelouch; as people have said he is pretty much a dumber Light (I had actually thought he was voiced by Light's English voice actor too, but nope. Johnny Young Bosch) who's plans don't get foiled by someone out thinking him but cause a zOMG NEW MODEL MECHA comes out and pwns everyones asses.
3. Artstyle; I dislike the generic anime art style the series uses. Bleh.Pros:
I wasn't bored. -

WOAH WOAH WOAH….you think CLAMP's art is generic? You could recognize their style from a mile away!
Well...from what I have seen, I don't like/care for Code Geass. I don't really watch anime anymore, but I remember wanting to watch this when I heard that it was a mecha series with Clamp designs. I watched a few episodes, but it didn't interest me.
-
WOAH WOAH WOAH….you think CLAMP's art is generic? You could recognize their style from a mile away!
People make such a big fuss over CLAMP's art-style, but I don't see what the fuss is all about over disproportional long arms and legs, that's the only I see that's unique about them. At one point I thought "Code Geass" looked just like "Gundam Seed" but with skinnier characters.
-
It's sort of silly to say that CLAMP's style is recognizable from a mile away, especially considering -
1. CLAMP only submitted the designs for the main characters, the costumes and Zero's outfit.
2. All of the designs were modified by Takahiro Kimura for each season - R2 looks even less like a CLAMP equivalent than the first season did.As firecrouch sort of said, the only thing distinctively CLAMP about Geass are the noodly appendages.
-
Didn't catch last night's episode. I might watch it on the Adult Swim website later though.
-
@MonkeyDMalcolm:
I can't see that happening because of the way the Emperor thinks. They are built on the concept of being the strongest some one like nunnally couldn't fit into that system.
oops lol. Good Call Terek you were right.
Newayz this episode was crazy so much shit was happening. I can barely wait for the next episode this show is amazing.
I wonder what the little brothers weakness is we are going to get to see all of the knights pretty soon and it looks as if a huge battle will take place.
-
The pointy chins and stringy bodies are what give CLAMP away. I don't mind that look in their own works (like X or Card Captor Sakura), but it definately doesn't fit with Geass.
As for the mechs, I like the Knightmares so far and the action coming from them (even if they just seem like more of Lelouche's puppets) The older models seems like a fusion of humanoids and tanks and the one newer model does give off a more streamline humanoid thing…though I'm getting scared that we're going to see more of those newer models later in the series. (sort of like watching the Zaku slowly getting replaced with Doms and Gelgoogs)

i wonder if he actuallytold him, or if he's trying to manipulate leouch, and made up a weekness to screw him over later on.
and what the hell was CC doing there? at least bring a disguise. that was really dumb for her. I didn't get her excuse. things were happening too fast for me to keep up with.

Yea i was thinking he was making a weakness up. Things did happen fast i will prob watch the episode again to get a full understanding of it. I think she just pops up like that some times she did it in season one also when she was in his house. She did have a disguise on she was dressed a student o_O. If the knight of one is really going to be Rolo things will be a lot more interesting. We met the knight of three and suzuka is the knight of seven and they are ranked in terms of strength. I want to know what Lelouch is going to do about nunnally being the new governor. I hope he bitch smakes the emeperor and uses geass on him to get nunnallys memories back.
-
i think nunnally will remember everything, but know nothing of leouch being zero. (just like before) I bet he will congradulate "the governer" as if that is her status. Not address her as his sister. That way, nunnally won't be upset, and leouch can still act like he knows nothing. "what an honor it is to talk to the new governer. Suzuka is very lucky to know someone like you" Something like that.
-

The same could be said about the anime this forum is based on
Seriously, CLAMP's art isn't bad. It's unique in a good way.

she was calling him brother while they were on the phone.
-
ya, i know. maybe i didn't explain it well. she always knew he was her brother, but she never knew he was zero, nor does she now.
-
Honestly, I hate Nunally. There's no redeeming factor to her - even Euphemia had some sort of brain in her and was morally decent, Nunally is exceptionall selfish, dumb and oblivious - from our current standpoint, she's fudging dumb to rejoin the Britannians so readily. They killed her mother, and presumably want to kill her.
She's also dumb for being forced blind yet not recognizing her brother's voice on television as Zero. Such a worthless character, even Rollo is better.
This said, I think the whole plot of Geass is a setup for Charles di Britannia to train an heir through intra-family struggle, and Lelouch is his favoured child. He was willing to give away his beloved wife to make Lelouch a worthy successor, but he frowns at Lelouch being such a pansy when it comes to his sister so he's trying to force Lelouch into a position to kill her.
Everything about the "trap" for C.C. is too elaborate to catch a witch like her, especially with a once dwindling force like the Order of the Black Knights. It's probably a test for Lelouch, and Suzaku doesn't know he's a pawn in the Emperor's plan.
-
wow. you really hate nunnally. I don't see why she's selfish though?

You could be on to something like this being a test for Lelouch. I thought he altered the memories of nunnally and lelouch.

Watched episode 3 on adultswim.com as I lost my TV so wont see it tonight. Lol, they blur the shower scenes even tho they don't show anything.
[hide]
[/hide]I hear the series has quite a bit of fanservice so this will probably be the norm. Hell, I saw a scene on another forum where it shows full fledge nudity in season 2 that is in funky colors, but all you gotta do is put it in paint and hit Ctrl+I and you get it. XD
This one:

[/hide]Christ, Japan and their fanservice. Gots to be in everything. As for the episode, I quite liked it. I can safely say I'm probably on board for the rest of the series.

yea the fan service comes every now and again just like OP. It's not something that is over glorified like in other animes Ikki Tousen comes to mind. This anime defintley rocks though. I'm in the midst of rewatchin season 1 im on episode 20 again.
-
OP has never shown that much fan service. Especially not nipples.
-
OP follows the Go Nagai school of misogynistic fanservice, Geass draws from all over the place and is typically more hardcore with it.
-
fanservice…did anyone see those extra animation things....that one with the bath scene, that's just teasing all the henti fans out there. omg. I didn't think code geass would go that far.
anyways, I just heard from an aquaintance in korea that the people that were uploading the episodes online were arrested. so we'll see if the new episode shows up online today... :(
-
Just saw ep. 3 and my opinions from last week has considerably dropped from the moment they revealed that the rebel girl was another high-ranking rich noble who doesn't like the way things are. And by the time we meet Lelouch's saccarine-sweet sister…probably the only good thing this time was the cliffhanger with Suzaku but I'm seriously doubting my staying power with this series. (since somehow it looks like Clovis' funeral will be a Brittanian version of the death of Garma Zabi)...oh, and the Geass power may be given weaknesses but it still seems more like Jedi mind sweeping or DN stuff.

If thats how you feel about kallen your very wrong a her character is somewhat deeper than that. Geass is more than just a jedi mind trick just i don't watch the English dub so i don't know how they are explaining everything to you. I don't want to spoil anything for you so keep watchin and i hope you enjoy.

I don't pay attention to stuff like i just see the fan service popping up randomly just like in OP however i will admit the fan service has happend more often in this season than last season. Honestly i don't even consider that fan service just explain some more of the plot to me and i will be happy =)
-
oh that's good to hear. i figured it would be uploaded somehow.

Kallen may be more but she just so far appears too similar to Lelouch: a rebellious girl who has wealth and power but hates the Britannians to the point that she fights against them in the rebels, keeping up appearances so no one can identify her as part of this whole ordeal yet showing abilities that lead to frustrating situations with the ones she is faking in front of. Sure she may not have Geass like Lelouch (or is evil or manipulative in his means) but the two are similar: they have the power but hate the ones in control so they want to do something with what they've got.
As for the "Jedi Mind Tricks" nonsense I said, it was just a generic comment mostly since I can't quite call the Geass power like the Death Note. They are trying to give it limitations but it just seems to make Lelouch even more of a douchebag since he can get away with anything with a combination of that and his genius. The whole thing with Nonally just seems to more give a sympathy he may not deserve: sure he wants to make the world better for his blind sister but at the same time he's doing so by means just as bad or worse than the Britannians.

Your right to an extent about both of them. They both are living a facade and hate the current system that is inplace. However the motivation behind Lelouch is different than the motivation behind Kallen. Do you know why kallen hates the current government?

I think the means more than justifies the ends. I think the way he uses his power + genius and he has CeCe is similiar to death note. Thier both had goals of making the world a better place. Well i am glad that there is limitations to the Geass otherwise it would be stupid. Even if you dislike his methods they are the most effective and yielded the most results. I never thought of Lelouch as a douche bag however he is kind of cocky so i guess i get what your saying. However are you forming some of your opinions based off of the three episodes that you saw + what we are saying. Because I don't see anything in the first three episode where you could disaprove of his methods.

Man they took down the raw episode 6 i don't know if you caught it or not but like the 1st minute and half seemed crazy
-
I know I've seen very little of Geass compared to many of you but I just don't see the point of continuing. Several people said to give this series a few episode and see if it grew on you. It did seem to take root in episode 2, but the one last night made it wither quickly. I just don't know anymore: I just feel like I have different taste in anime compared to others.

Well I'm not sure what you look for in anime but for any anime you watch there a high chance that you will not get the gist of a character by episode 3. It does depend on the type of anime you like however i think code geass can appeal to any type of anime fan almost anime you can't please some people no matter what.
-
tokoru, if you don't wanna watch it anymore, it's up to you. I just think your analization of kallen after 3 episodes is humorous, as it isn't totally acurate, and if you knew the charicter a little better, you might laugh too. ^_^
as for episode 6 (season 2), I'm downloading a subbed episode off baka updates right now. gonna have to tell my friend.

Stick with it until episode four, that's the real litmus paper episode as it's when Zero appears. Zero, in his first appearence, was GAR. Beyond that episode, if you still find the show lacking, by all means drop it - I'm of the opinion that everything tapered off after four, but stayed good until after eleven, where the show started to suuuuuck.
-
Is it Kallen or Karen? Karen sounds like it'd be the actual name, Kallen sounds like bad Engrish.
-
It's pretty obvious it's supposed to be Karen, but Sunrise wrote it out as Kallen and since Kallen is –----------- it fits appropriately for her.
Also, captain usopp. I'm jealous because I can't torrent off of this computer yet you can still watch Geass. Know of any DD's or streaming sites where I can get the episodes fresh? :(
Your help would also be welcome MDM.

websites i uses are veoh.com , youtube.com , gofish.com, stormberry.tv , there also otakucenter.com anime-media.com animecrunch.com (you need to register for otakucenter and they might only just have the raw up) there's also dailymotion.com

I may tape 4 individually, but I did remove the series from my weekly tapings. I know many love Geass but it just didn't seem worth my time. (and this is from a self-declared idiot who likes certain filler scenes in OP) You won't have me to kick around in this thread anymore.

i guess althought i meant it in jest. you can drop this anime whenever you feel like doesn't stop it from being great.

ugh
It's like while the show was in development the creators printed out a list of every anime cliché known to man and made a character based on each one.
WACKY MALE SIDEKICK WITH CRAZY HAIR
BLOND BITCHY WOMAN
SPUNKY REDHEAD
SHY GLASSES GIRL
BLIND RETARDED WHEEL CHAIR GIRL -

episode 6 is subbed up on otakucenter.com
! This episode was amazing i wonder what lelouch is going to do from now on. Kallen updated knightmare was sick better than the upgrade to the Lancelot. Todou needs an updated knightmare and so does Ogi they need to be able to keep up. They also need rolo to fight along side of them. They will be able to keep up.
What happened to the knightmare lelouch had at the end of season 1 it wasn't destroyed at the end.
