Hmm, using all those swears seems like too much. It makes One Piece seem more vulgar than it is.

14:15:01 <bay|nycc|onepiece>What is going to be the release rate for the sets? I don't know if a full schedule has been set at this point… that will be more determined as we go through a couple of releases... first one in may</bay|nycc|onepiece>
Kinda contradicts what was said at Sakura-Con. :wassat:
14:15:05 <bay|nycc|onepiece>the next, watch the funimation page.</bay|nycc|onepiece>
I wonder what they're going to do with that.
14:15:53 <bay|nycc|onepiece>Some might have 12, some might have 14</bay|nycc|onepiece>
So they might try to find appropriate cliffhangers then.
14:17:01 <bay|nycc|onepiece>Pistol, rocket, 72 pound canon… as far as I know... are in there...</bay|nycc|onepiece>
Huh, I thought they were going to use that Phoenix of 72 Desires or whatever from Unlimited Adventure. Neat.
14:19:17 <bay|nycc|onepiece>The goal is to do all of it</bay|nycc|onepiece>
Cool but thats if the DVD sell well enough for it to keep going.
14:23:18 <bay|nycc|onepiece>Would it be possible to sending the openings to the radio as the singles? These are broadcast versions… ..also there are tons of legal hoops you have to go through to license music...
14:23:25 <bay|nycc|onepiece>It isn't off the table…</bay|nycc|onepiece></bay|nycc|onepiece>Hmmmmm…
-
14:04:27 <bay|nycc|onepiece>One piece went off the air, when can we expect it back? I don't know. It's a cartoon network deal.
14:04:37 <bay|nycc|onepiece>Toei works directly with Cartoon network regarding the materials.
14:04:59 <bay|nycc|onepiece>I do know that any instance in the past, this has been a schedule shuffle and also, if the fanbase writes, it makes a difference.</bay|nycc|onepiece></bay|nycc|onepiece></bay|nycc|onepiece>I think part of this means that yes, we should be writing. Once school calms down a bit more for me I'll try to write a snail-mail letter. Still, interesting to know that Toei has something to do with the disappearance of the CN airings. Okay that was posted earlier but still, if Toei gave CN the episodes, why hasn't Toei sent them more?

Yup, you were right all along Dixxy.
I better get over there and start writing to them. He also said to get on the messageboards, but I wonder which ones he was talking about (if he meant any specifically)?
-
please tell me what you guys are talking about?
if on the DVD it would be Zoro or Zorro.
OT: i just realized i am going to have doubles on some episodes on DVD
DVD 5(4kids version)(Single) has 17-21
boxset 2(funimation) will have 14-22.

The 4kids DVD's only had 5 episodes? Did they have boxsets too?
-
No, they never had boxsets.
-
The 4kids DVD's only had 5 episodes? Did they have boxsets too?
No boxsets, but most Toei/Viz/4Kids DVDs had 3-6 episodes plus extras
plus subs -
Oh OK, I see.
Sorry guys, I actually didnt get into One Piece until around a month or so the Funi got it (believe it or not, that's just a coincidence, because I only watched the subs at first).
-
Viz gives better box sets..
Have you seen those Naruto and Bleach sets? Lots of goodies in thoseAnd do Funi's FMA ones have good extras in them?
I'm hoping that One Piece atleast gets some episode commentary.. >_> -
Viz has those junk figurines. Whoo-hoo.
-

If OP boxsets gets anything it would probably be trailers for OP movie8,trailers for OP games,or upcoming products. -
For the last time, extras are not important. If you want extras, go buy them.
-
For the last time, extras are not important.
Yea they are
If you want extras, go buy them.
We can't
Cause' Funi is cheap and won't release them.
-
If you want something other than the episodes, which is the entire fucking point of a DVD release, you can go BUY them.
-
Especially since people look at extras usually once in their life then forget they even exist.
-

Not true. I watch the documentaries/commentary tracks that come with movies all the time and rewatch them if they're good.
But really. Funimation is already putting 110% into the series enough as it is. Be thankful you're getting billingual DVDs nearly every two months.
-

Not if they aren't released
Don't you know that MOST other companies actually include something then the movie/series itself on them? Actually everything I've ever gotten does.
At least a good commentary. But you people are exactly the reason why we don't get extras.
By saying "that's good enough", Funi hears it and agrees with you. If OP fans are ok without any extras then they'll just give us jack.
Unlike the Naruto and Bleach fanbase that actually care enough about the series to demand more and GET IT -
There's also taking things for granted.
-
Whew. I know this sounds trivial and lame, but I'm so glad they aknowledged "72 Pound Cannon". I couldn't stand "Phoenix of 72 Earthly Desires".
I'm sure the swearing will balance out within the 22 minutes or so of the episode. I trust FUNi enought to make a tasteful dub script without excess cussing. But with all the variety there, and the next set being Bariate, will we get the Crap-Cookers… or the Shitty Chefs?
Only extras I want to see are maybe a few commentaries, outtakes, or an interview or two. I can live without though.
To sum it up: AWESOME. I wonder if we'll get Volume 2 in time for Anime Expo?
-
Holy hell there will be no extras for the 100th time. What the hell are you guys expecting? If you ever want extras, and this should be common sense, show them that the show SELLS. THEN they will take the TIME and PAY the money for licenses that will ALLOW them to put extras.
-

Like you.
-
@Lobster: Cause it IS enough. I love commentaries, but come the fuck on, you want them over your anime too? All it would be is the American staff talking about what they did to dub it, that wouldn't be interesting. What's great about commentaries is it involves the actual creators and talent which EXPERIENCED what you're seeing on screen blabbering on about it.
I'm not bothering anymore. If you are that butthurt about not having extras then don't buy the DVD. That's right, I'm telling someone NOT to buy this, that way someone who actually cares more can get that copy.
-
Care? No. They're just greedy and always want more.
Like you.
That's not being greedy. It's caring for quality.
Unlike you
@Buuhan, you know I already said that I am going to buy it. It would just be nice if Funi actually did what is basically a bare minimum on DVD sets. But if you're fine with them going below and beyond, then w/e.
If you're content with eating scraps then you'll never be offered a steak like everybody else.
-
It's not scraps. You're acting like we are getting 3 episode DVDs with no extras outside the other language, trailers, and subtitles. That's basically what anime DVDs use to be. We are getting an average of 13 episodes every 2 fucking months. Stop. Your. Bitching.
6 sets a year = no big extras
2-3 sets a year = extras
Who prefers the second, raise your hand.
That's what I thought.
@poorboi2008:Actually, I'd prefer the second ca–
Shut the fuck up.

Admit it, and move the fuck on.
-
It's not scraps.
Well no.. I wasn't literally implying that the DVD = CHUNKS OF MEAT
We are getting an average of 13 episodes every 2 fucking months. Stop. Your. Bitching.
I prefer quality to quantity, unless I'm starving on an island.
And I would rather have commentaries, story boards, and art galleries; like Viz's releases every 2.5 months, then basically only the episodes every 2 months.@RomanGod:
You are being greedy, Lobster.
I disagree
It's caring, Roman God.
-
I'd rather my DVDs have extras than no extras, but honestly, as long as I'm getting the show itself that's enough. I'm sure we'll get some extras down the line to a certain extent.
-
@Lobster:
It's caring, Roman God.
No one cares .
-
No one cares .
About the DVD or responding to the comment?
Because both were obviously just cared about.
! READY FOR BATTLE
Well atleast We Are getting them, which is nice.
So we shouldn't really complain to them, just "suggest" in a kind way.See? Then it all works out.
And this my friends, is the moral of the story. -
so no extras then? fine with me.
I think actually getting the original voices on a english DVD is enough anyways as it is.when was it confirmed each set would be coming out every 2 months?
-
At one of the recent cons, forget the name.
-

If the price is right for the 2nd you never know.

What's with all the whining about extras? It's not like the world is gonna cave in on itself if FUNi doesn't put bonus features on the DVDs. It'd be nice every once in a while to have a commentary or behind the scenes interview but it's not a freaking neccessity.
-
@Lobster:
It's caring, Roman God.
About yourself, of course.
-
About yourself, of course.
Burn…
Though I am a tad worried that at this most recent con they said they DVDs would not be released on any schedule. I hope that doesn't null the 6-8 weeks thing.
-
Haven't we already been over this? Funimation said that the extras were dependent on what TOEI gives them. If TOEI gives them nothing, well… what can you do? That leaves Funimation commentaries...
...and if they're under such a time crunch then I seriously don't expect to see those. And Mike already said that they didn't have enough outtakes yet for a real of those.Yeah, it sucks for the moment. I blame TOEI, not Funi. TOEI needs to stop micromanaging the fuck out of their I.Ps.

Because we will be shedding out $30-$50 for episodes I'm sure everyone here has already seen, and Funi knows that. Extras are more of a reason to buy something you have already seen.

Most of us haven't seen early dub episodes by Funimation. Even people at NY Comic Con haven't see 5-13 yet.
-
Nobody has seen the dubs, you know. :)
Besides, FUNimation needs to make money back, they've spent millions on the show already.
-

I've seen every episode of One Piece so far and I'm buying the DVDs so that I can watch one of my favorite series whenever I want in my own native language. I'm not buying it just for the freaking extras.
It's the same with movies I see in the theater. If I really like them, I buy them on DVD when they come out to watch whenever I want. Only 8/10 times I check out the extras.
-
Well, unlike LPS, I'm getting the One Piece DVDs because they're One Piece. I don't care about extras when I'm concerned with anime DVDs. If it is uncut, it's OK.
-
@Yuugi: That's basically what we were told yesterday on here.
-
@Yuugi's:

I meant in regards to buying things we have not seen - I apologize if that wasn't clear :)
-
LPS got his extras with the possible dub/pun explanation feature.
-

And the japanese are paying about 50$ for 3 episodes. Quit complaining, 30$ for over 5 hours of OP is really freakin' cheap if you ask me.
-
@Toonzone:
FUNimation's One Piece panel was held in a jam-packed room of fans, revealing both the size and the intensity of the One Piece fanbase
What an exellent way to start the report. I was secretly wondering how many people showed up to this thing.
-
So Kent Williams as Captain Kuro and Brett Weaver as Axe-Hand Morgan, huh? I can see both of those working.
-
Yeah, I know but it's always nice to have a reputible site. Ed (who wrote the article) left a wee-bit early to do his interview with the creators of Avatar: The Last Airbender, though.
