I'm also probley will be planning to pick it up at Wal-Mart as well. Since I have to pick up DBZ Season 5 at there as well on the same day. I'm pretty much excited to get the One Piece set.

I'll be pre-ordering closer to the date. Would rather remember what I put on my credit card and know when it is going ot be getting charged than have some random day come and I get DBZ season 5 and One Pice First Voyage in the mail. Then be like "oh Shit" hopefully my credit card bill needed to just be paid and dind't know I had anything on.
Plus just bought some stuff, so if I wait a month to preorder doesn't seem like I spent as much money.

Well, I just preordered my Season One DVD. Right Stuf has a sale until the 13th on all FUNimation DVDs for 40% off. With the coupon code, OP Season One is only $30.00.
Hopefully I'll have the DVD come in early, and I'll post some pics of the packaging and some screencaps for you guys once I get it in.

So yeah, I just got an e-mail from Rightstuf about my pre-order.
Apparently the set is already "On Order From Manufacturer"…even though its still a pre-order. (This means its backordered?)
So I assume this means that the DVD is selling well then?
Hopes for Funimation to sell the set at ACEN

I apologize I don't think I've ordered something that's been backordered before. . . couldn't that just mean that because the official release is still a month and a half away that they're ALL on order from the manufacturer?
Not that I'm trying to be pessimistic - I'm just trying to get some context. If it's on backorder already this is GREAT news!

Not to burst your bubble or anything but I pre ordered it basically the DAY it came on that site and I've been getting the same email about once a week. They are just sending it out so you aren't sitting there wondering why it hasn't arrived yet… which is, because it's not out yet.
However, #4 on RightStuf is good news indeed. It's like 14000 on amazon =P

That's weird. I ordered mine a few days ago, and I the only emails I got were the ones saying they received the order and that it'd ship when the release date nears.
I think he's saying he got an email saying his order is on back-order.

Rightstuf periodically send you an e-mail to let you know they are trying to get hold of stock, although why they do it for pre-orders I'll never know. I'm sick of getting e-mails from them, I do know it's not in stock yet thank you very much.

It's still taking a solid $30 out of our pockets. People usually have a sincere desire for something if they're willing to spend $30. Well, at least the One Piece fan with no steady source of income.

It's getting there. Don't forget how popular Shonen Jump is, so alot of people at least know what One Piece is. That certainly helps.

I'm seriously getting steamed up on how many people I've seen who won't bother buying the set. I've seen it here, I've seen it on Toon Zone. I haven't seen it elsewhere, but if other boards are talking about it, it'll pop up there as well, I imagine. I just can't understand what they can't understand.
OP + DVD + $ = Funi more inclined to keep the series going X CN being more inclined to put it back on the air X Toei more inclined to not take the rights away
If folks really like the show and want to see it continue in the US, whether it's the dub or the legal original, why can't they support the company bending over backwards to provide the fans with the show they want? Why can't they show their support in the one way and at the one time it really counts?

I just realized, the side of the cover says discs 1 & 2, obviously implying that they're the first two discs for the first season. That gave me a thought that maybe FUNi will do something like what Viz did with the Dragonball manga and have people send in sheets proving that they bought all the sets to one season and in return they'll send a box for them to keep it in.
Either that or FUNi will do the approach they did with Dragonball Z and YuYu Hakusho and release the boxes, but with the set forcing anyone who has the sets for a season but wants the box to buy the entire season again.
