I think it's more of a second season than a new series. But yeah, this probably means Blue Dragon could be staying on Toonami for years.
-
Well, that's slightly better. Hopefully Bakugan bombed horribly last week. We can only hope that Blue Dragon does as well.
Do we know if both episodes are premieres?
@Yuugi's:
Who the **** keeps telling you guys this? For the last time, don't leak this crap! I manage to keep it to myself, you Roman should to.
No one cares that you have a position you don't even deserve, so stop ranting about people leaking news.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with posting this information. Roman even said to keep it off of the forum which must not be named, so don't throw a hissy fit.
-
Now this doesn't look good at all. The first schedule change didn't worry me much, but looking at the fact that they'd limit Toonami to two shows instead of putting One Piece back on.
I'm getting really fucking nervous.
-
If it's showing two episodes every week, and both of them are new episodes, then it'll be off the air in much less than one year.
I would think that they're doing what Naruto is (if I'm not mistaken) and air the previous week's episode, then a new one. EDIT: Guess not. It's been two new ones, so maybe Blue Dragon IS following suit and will be done in about 26 weeks. Thanks KuwabaraTheMan.
And Yuugi's Black Magician, and to anyone else supposedly getting info from network officials/insiders, why the bloody hell aren't you asking them about what's happening with One Piece? I would think that would be the first thing you'd ask them if they're giving you info like the new Toonami schedule. At least find out if it's on hiatus, something, anything. Srsly. We know Funi's still working on episodes but its fate on C/N is still unclear. And if you're getting info on stuff from C/N folks, I can't imagine it's too hard to type the words "what's happening with One Piece?".
Sorry if it seems harsh, but if I had ties to people in the industry like Quexi does with Mike McFarland, I'd be asking simple questions like that.
-
@Gerchak:

Naruto is currently airing double premieres, and has been since late October. They may have to stop that soon since I think they're getting close to the end of what Viz has dubbed so far, but they've been doing hour premieres for awhile.

I think they're gonna continue with the hour long premieres until they reach Shippuden at some point in the Fall.

I have the feeling that in getting the info, they can't be partial to any single show. If they're just getting info because they're in the news business, I would think that as a professional, they can't show bias to their informants like that. But hey, YBM, if I'm wrong, just go ahead and ask. :D

Exactly.
I know a lot of you have faith in FUNi's word. But believe me… We're dealing with the CN here. Everything that may seem logical to how to broadcast a show goes right out the window when dealing with CN.
-

Couldn't have said it better myself.
Anyway, the fact that OP is gone until at least the summer with no news whatsoever is a bad sign no matter how you look at it. Still think I was overreaching about Cartoon Network? Didn't think so.
-
However, if it was indeed getting bad ratings… Then there's nothing we can really do.
Networks are to deal with shows that don't put up. That's how it's always been. And if One Piece is really canceled... Then they've made their choice based on it's performance.
We can't say people haven't tried. But ultimately, if it really is gone... Then One Piece was just not destined to air in America.
It upsets me that Naruto, Bleach, and the like will continue, while One Piece can very well not... But that's how it is. Since the moment 4Kids acquired the license. Which is actually another slap in the face for us since the 4Kids dub actually aired for far longer on tv than the FUNi dub (if it's gone).
But, whatever. Just another day of being a One Piece fan, M I RITE?
-
Goddammit, I thought you were talking about Cartoon Network for a minute! Thanks for the near heart attack!
That's your fault for not reading all of it. ^^
9:00pm – Blue Dragon
9:30pm -- Blue Dragon
10:00pm -- Naruto
10:00pm -- Naruto
That's not too bad. :wassat: I mean, it'd keep my interest for the whole night. Although, my sister would be upset about naruto being on so late.
Just don't post it on Toon Zone and it should be fine.
Don't worry. I won't.
-
The new schedule for May is all right. When the DVDs come out, i'm going to purchse them as soon as possible. That's what we all should do when May 27th dawns upon us.
. -
I was going to purchase the boxset no matter. I bought Movie #8 despite the "Sux0rz!" claims.
-
So another dark turn of events. Bummer. I can only stubbornly think positive and hope for another drastic change that involves One Piece coming back. Hell, I'm deluded enough to think CN might hold One Piece for a few months, let Funi get some episodes done and start over from the beginning.
But still buying the DVDs are the most important thing, that'll send the loudest message (hell I just might buy two copies and give the extra to my little brother)
-
As interesting as Blue Dragon sounds…I hope it totally fucking bombs on CN. If it does, that increases One Piece's chances of coming back I think. Tho chances are, with it's "ZOMG! DRAGON BALL ZZZZ!" artstyle that's not gonna happen.
-
Blue Dragon has a lot of sexual jokes, which is what made the show funny, other than that the show was basically your normal fighting losing/winning anime. Without the witty jokes I can't see it going far.

Believe me.
What will win the casual people over ARE the generic aspects. And the Dragon Ball art style.

There's an award show at AnimeDVDs coming up that's allowing the public to vote and One Piece is up for four nominations.
-
Hey, I don't think this has been posted on AP yet but it appears that FUNimation One Piece is airing in Australia! They are airing episode 114 (153) on Friday which means, if they are broadcasting in 26 epsiode blocks (common in countries like this), they'll be the first to air episodes 129 and 130 (168 and 169) on April 18th and 21st respectivly! Which means if we want to hear Opening 4 and Ending 11 dubbed, we'll have to get someone over there to record it for us!
Yay!

It's already been mentioned by another user here but some people may not know about it.
-
Yeah, I already knew about this. But this is still great news. ^_^.

Voted for all the One Piece's, and for Eureka 7 in Mecha design. There's a lot of Hellsing and Haruhi stuff on there…so I think that kills One Piece's chances cause those are weeaboo faves.
-
Yep I voted for all One Piece, and I also voted for Laura Bailey for Shin-Chan.
-
This vote probably wont be accurate anyways. You don't even gotta sign up an account to vote, it'll probably be vote trolled. (In other words, expect Naruto to win in all it's categories big time.)
-
I voted all One Piece except for Male Voice actor where I voted Alessandro as L, I really think his performance in Death Note is brilliant.
It's also a total crime that Yotsuba isn't listed for best Comedy Manga. FOR SHAME SPJA!
-
Believe me.

Don't forget that it has one girl who has to get naked for her powers to work, and another that fights with a gun. You can't get anymore rad than that.
-

That poll fails because they have Alucard listed as Arucard.
-
I bought the 8th Movie DVD as well, and I will buy the Uncut DVD set in May. I pledged my wallet to Funimation so long as they continue to make One Piece DVD's.
-
Yep I voted for all One Piece, and I also voted for Laura Bailey for Shin-Chan.
-
I voted for one piece in everything it was in except for voice actor(I also voted for L's voice actor) every thing other than that was haruhi suzumiya(all that was in)
-
^Now, that was funny. xD

I voted for One Piece whenever it was listed. Any other vote was just randomly picked.
-
Chris Sabat rules, you all fail at voting. XD
N-e-ways, I'm curious how CN will handle Blue Dragon. Never seen or played it, but hearing stuff like all the sexual jokes, nudity, and gun use… Sexual jokes will probably be rewrote, girl will probably be in a bikini instead of nude, and the gun use...may stay.
-
As if things weren't bad enough, now AS is removing anime from Fridays as well. Now we're down to just Saturdays for anime. Perfect, that's like the cherry on the shit sundae.

Which has NOTHING to do with the FUNimation-dub of One Piece…:getlost:
-
Okay… Bakugan must've bombed hard on Toonami. Because it's ALREADY being replaced THIS Saturday.
By Samurai Jack. Yes, Samurai Jack.
While this scehdual is a HELL of a lot better, think about it. They opted for Samurai Jack... Over One Piece.
That is NOT good for One Piece.

Even though I like the Samurai Jack, no, it's not a good sign.

Bullshit. Just bullshit. This is so unbelievably lame I don't know what to say.
Oh well.
"gotta get back, back to the past, Samurai Jack! Jack! Jack! Jack! Jack!"
-
Well, Samurai Jack being put back on is cool, at the very least.
But yeah, it is a bit odd that they'd go for that over One Piece.
I'm just going to hope they really are giving it a short break and it will be back on soon. And hopefully Blue Dragon won't do too well, either. That would give One Piece a good chance at coming back.

Well, I just saw the Blue Dragon dub, and it blows, so maybe you'll get your wish.

Even though I do want OP to come back to Toonami, I really dont want it to come back that way. If that happens, they'll just end up replacing it again later.
Do you guys thing Funi will have anything to say about this at Sakura Con? I heard somewhere that they are just as surprised about OP being pulled as we are (CN has a notorious track record of pulling stunts like this in the past).
-
FUNi is just as clueless as we are.
NO ONE can predict what CN will do.
-
Couple of tidbits from Funimation's Sakura-Con panel courtesy of giapet.net:
BIG applause for One Piece, the first uncut release being the film Adventures in Alabasta.
After this panel there are some bookmarks made from One Piece film cells from Japan. That is fucking awesome. I don’t even watch One Piece but I want one.
They’re carrying on with the International Film Channel, who just got FUNimation’s title Speed Grapher. FUNi would love to do more Full Metal Panic! but nothing new on that. They will include any One Piece extras they’re given by Japan, but he doesn’t know what that includes.
No word on any of the original Dragon Ball but they’re hoping to release the rest (including GT if they can get the materials. On One Piece, they may go back to the rest of the movies (Alabasta is the 8th) depending on how well the TV series does.
-
Oh, great. Anoter thing riding on how well it does on TV. Which means we have to depend on Cartoon Network.
…
CARTOON NETWORK.
-
…or he could be referring to how well the TV series does on DVD.
DOOM AND GLOOM AHOY.
-
Oh, yeah. Forgot about that…
-
Oh, yeah. Forgot about that…
Yeah, sometimes it pays to just sit back and not get too worried.
As long as the DVDs sell well, I'm sure we'll get more.
I mean, FUNi is getting the money from the DVD sales, not TV ratings.
And they've already sold a good chunk of episodes to CN, so they've got CN's money no matter what they actually do with those episodes.

In there it says Funi is moving on with the International Film Channel. Could that mean One Piece might go to IFC?

Personally, I'm kinda hoping not. I only get IFC in one TV in my house, the living room, and it would be far too much of an inconvenience to watch it there than it would be on Cartoon Network, which I conveniently get on my bedroom TV. But that's just me.
