You can get them for 1 BP apiece at the Battle Tower, but their boost caps at 100, so you can only really use 10 per stat anyways.
Pokemon Diamond and Pearl

Im gonna train an Aerodactyl, so im just gonna post the moveset im thinking of.
Stone Edge
Dragon Claw
Ice Fang
Dragon PulseWhat i dont know is, if i should make room for fly? Maybe switch dragon claw with fly?
EDIT: @Bellamy - I think im just gonna train them the other way around. All this individual stat boosting is too hard.
-
thanks to both

Take out Dragon Pulse since Aerodactyl has an abysmal Spec. Atk. stat. Dragon Claw covers it anyway so there's no need for two moves of the same type.
You might want to replace it with Pursuit since no one really likes to stay in against an Aerodactyl unless they know they can kill it in one hit. Plus it works in your favor since the move's power is doubled on switches. Another good choice might be Earthquake if you can manage to get ahold of a TM for it since it's a reliable move with high power.
-
Earthquake is a must for a fast attacker like Aerodactyl.
Earthquake is pretty much a must for anything with above average attack actually, I still don't understand why they made it so powerful.
-
@El:
Thanks,
I guess i have to train them myself then. Damn..I know that from experience. I left an Abra in the Daycare so he could arrive at lv. 15 and thus evolving to Kadabra and getting his first offensive move, but instead when I got him back he was at lv. 17 and without to learn even Confusion.
-
Thinking of raising my aerodactyl now.
Is Yanmega any good?
Thinking of getting a yanma from that emerald version I got.
But it's hard as shit to find.
So is it really worth it?
Heard he could be used as a fair sweeper. -
He's fast and has good special attack, but his special defense is pretty terrible. Still a great one to use from what I've seen/heard though.
I'm thinking about finishing raising my PROBOPASS, but a) I have no idea what sort of moveset to give it and b) two quadruple weaknesses (to very common attack types) make me skeptical.

Heard he could be used as a fair sweeper.Yanmega is actually really good to use. Make sure you keep Detect on him so you'll get the best use out of Yanmega's ability. Throw in Hypnosis, Bug Buzz and Air Slash to make it him great. I have one myself and it has helped me win against some people.
-
also toying the notion of raising a team of late level evolvers
like salamence, dragonite, tyranitar, aggron, garchomp, flygontoo bad it wouldnt work
just fun to fuck around with i guess
i just cant find me a larvitar anywhere -
Yanmega has some problems with typing (Bug/Flying got the short end of several sticks this generation), but pretty much everything else is great.
Would definitely recommend it.

Back when Yanmega leads were popular, I found them extremely predictable. They always start with Protect/Detect to get their Speed Boost so you can just set-up something (like Stealth Rock to stop the Yanmega from switching back in so easily). Nowadays I don't really see them much but I will still expect a Hypnosis or a Protect/Detect from it just because of these habits, much like how sometimes I refuse to zap a Gyarados thinking that an Electivire is lurking somewhere.
That said, Yanmega is still a strong Pokemon and I'd certainly try out a Scarfed Tinted Lens Yanmega with Hypnosis and use that as a lead since everyone expects the Speed Boost variety. You get a quick sleep and then you just switch out to someone ese to setup on them. Also Bug/Flying STAB with Tinted Lens is not resisted by anyone (though it still is stopped cold by Blissey because she's a whore).

Well that's with alot of pokemon anyway. You have your Wish/Baton Pass Vaporeons, Sandstream/Brightpowder Garchomps and revenge-killing Dugtrios. Alot of pokemon are fairly easy to read in terms of what one's going to do, it doesn't stop it from being effective. That's what it mainly comes down to when two people with just about equal skill anyway: prediction, make one wrong move and you may have just lost the match.
It's not really good to scarf Yanmega since once that one pokemon has been put to slept you're basically left with barely anything. Being able to cover types with Bug Buzz and Air Slash is all well and good, but not when you're trapped into one move. That's generally why I don't really run choice items on a pokemon like Yanmega. Blissey basically stops all special sweepers, it's been the same since it was introduced. At least the move type situation changed for the better with Diamond and Pearl.

I think ill check out pursuit, since i dont really know the attack. Otherwise i think ive got the earthquake tm. -

I agree completely here.

Admittedly, the issue of locked moves on Yanmega is a big issue since it doesn't switch back in well (Stealth Rocks are everywhere). That said, Yanmega users tend to have a Rapid Spinner to address this issue.
Also Blissey is still a whore :p
PS: I'd actually like to know whether people play on Wifi or Shoddy Battle. I go under the nickname, Broom, for Shoddy Battle. I don't play Wifi since breeding takes forever and I'm playing Days of Ruin on Wifi right now.
-
I'm just the opposite, I play Wifi, but haven't ever touched ShoddyBattle. I just like using teams I myself took the time to breed with the IVs and moves I want. I don't have any kind of problem with people that only use ShoddyBattle though. Different taste it what it boils down to.
What does get annoying though is when you go on some sites and people go trading pokemon made with Pokesav or Action Replay or whatever it's called. That's why I generally only trade with people with generally good records about legitimacy. Luckily there's ways to find out if someone made one with Pokesav, no matter how much they tried to mask it.
-
I was wondering: are IV's really that important for a pokemon? Will it make a big difference on its stats?
-
They're only important in the sense of getting that one point higher that can let your pokemon last for one more turn or do that little extra damage needed for a one hit kill. The main stat people aim for getting the highest in is speed since having that one extra point will let you go before the opponent's pokemon thus letting you get that extra attack or a free set up.
The stat differences aren't really that major, the highest all IVs can go to are 31. So at most there will be a 31 point difference between two pokemon's stats. that's without counting natures of course so adding that in just depends on each individual pokemons' stat.
Overall though, IVs are only important if you're playing against people who breed with for high IVs also. Against people who only breed to have certain pokemon or don't breed at all there wouldn't be a big deal in terms of who has the upper hand.
-
I got Shoddy Battle a while ago but I haven't really used it much yet. Probably should sometime soon.
-
Can you completly complete the national dex? because Im coming pretty good.
My team is in my sig.
-
There are several Pokemon right now that you can't get without cheating, so it depends on whether you want to do that or not.
-
I was tempted to make a card
sigged
-
My current team on Shoddy Battle:
Wobuffet@Leftovers
252 HP / 130 Def / 126 SpDef
Nature: Bold
Ability: Shadow Tag- Charm
- Counter
- Mirror Coat
- Encore
Wob has the most braindead moveset ever, letting anyone on the team set up as I please. I honestly don't know why he just got unbanned.
Mismagius@Leftovers
116 HP / 140 SpA / 252 Spe
Nature: Timid
Ability: Levitate- Calm Mind
- Substitute
- Shadow Ball
- HP Fighting
Blissey counter that has an even easier time getting in thanks to Wob (and it was already easy switching in Missy).
Blissey@Leftovers
252 HP / 252Def / 4SpAtk
Nature: Bold
Ability: Natural Cure- Ice Beam
- Seismic Toss
- Thunder Wave
- Wish
The pink bitch again. Uses Wish to support Gyarados and Wob. I use Thunder Wave just because I feel like spreading status.
Gliscor@Leftovers
252 HP / 68 Atk / 188 Spe
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Hyper Cutter- Swords Dance
- Baton Pass
- Earthquake
- Ice Fang
My team would otherwise get mauled by Heracross without this thing. If a Bronzong comes up, then I simply Baton Pass to Gyarados.
Gyarados@Life Orb
72 HP / 252 Atk / 184 Spe
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Intimidate- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Waterfall
- Ice Fang
I use Life Orb because of Pink Whore support. Otherwise boring standard DDdos.
Porygon2@Leftovers
228 HP / 136 Def / 144 SpA
Nature: Bold
Ability: Trace- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Thunder Wave
- Recover
Anti-Gyarados since otherwise I have no 100% safe Gyara counter.
-
Are there any guides floating around the net, on how to distinguish hacked pokes from real ones?
-
Try checking here:http://www.smogon.com/forums/
I'm not sure exactly where, but I'm pretty certain they have a topic which gives explanations on how to check them. Some kind of program for checking the data that shows whether it was created from a Pokemon Diamond/Pearl game or created in Pokesav or another method from scratch should be available.
-
For that matter, I recommend Smogon for anything to do with competitive battling. Pretty much, the only focus they have is on just that so you can hear about the latest trends and strategies that are being used now.
-
That's true, it's where I always go to get trades done since smogon is where I find the best people with good track records in terms of trading and breeding. It's also where I pick up friend codes since most people there are really good battlers.
-
thanks, ill try that
EDIT: Apparently, the european codes for Electivire and Magmortar has been leaked.
From Serebii.com:Elevtivire:
-English : tko3-9jwp-34kl
-French : jk4i-df87-dsf9
-Spanish : 04in-1ynj-24fv
-German : 0f9-ud0g-ughj
-Italian : t4oi-6j8d-sb5rMagmortar:
-English : jl49-05kn-odnv
-French : 13io-h4rf-1tpa
-Spanish : kn34-q0uc-1mbx
-German : kre9-ef90-5hgn
-Italian : 97ea-78hl-jrgu -
The stats of those two PBR-obtained Pokemon are listed below:
Electivire@Magnet
Nature: Modest
Ability: Motor Drive- Thunder Punch
- Ice Punch
- Cross Chop
- Earthquake
Magmortar@Charcoal
Nature: Modest
Ability: Flash Fire- Flamethrower
- Psychic
- Hyper Beam
- Solar Beam
Too bad it doesn't seem to suggest they learn any good moves that they normally shouldn't (like how you could get a Tangela with Morning Sun in XD)
-
Has anybody ever selected the character that is opposite your gender (i.e. if you're a guy, you play as Dawn)? I have. Nothing against Lucas but Dawn has a better graphic, IMO, plus it feels kinda cool to play as a character from the anime. And in addition to others, I try to catch the same Pokemon she owns, too (Buneary, Pachirisu, Piplup).
-
Lucas has an awesome scarf. Dawn's a slut that wears a 2-inch skirt.
Guess which I picked.
-
Only complaint I have is that Lucas has that damn hat.
That damn damn hat. -
sometimes it feels like im the only one who likes the hat.
-
I like it too, don't see what's wrong with it.
-
I wear a similar hat (in shape) anyway so I like it.
Dawn and her belt of a skirt on the other and are repugnant.
-
@Mr.:
I wear a similar hat (in shape) anyway so I like it.
-
A Beret?
That's something I expected from Aldrich, not you. :~
-
It's a beret? I thought it was one of these.
Take back your my avatar Sanctum
-
yea, i'm pretty sure it's not a beret, guyz
I have a friend who picked Dawn cuz he said the male design was shit, but imo it's just peachy.
-
i catch pokmen better when i wear lipstick
-
you can probably catch them even better if you weren't busy sucking dick while you're doing it, garlic breath
-
I used the boy primarily as (a) I'm male, and (b) Pokemon one of the few RPGs that lets me use my full first name (Stephen) so I used the male trainer for that.
-
how can i get out of mystery zone?
-
-
oh common there is gotta be a way out
-
stop using action replay cheater
-
Copy-paste from WikiAnswers:
All you have to do is keep moving back to where you entered it.
You may get stuck sometimes, but if you keep trying to get through
you should be able to get through it. trust me I've been there.
Oh, if you go to far into the Mystery Zone you could ruin your game data. And don't use cheats.
-
Going back to the previous discussion.
Yeah, I use the guy. His hat and scarf never bothered me. Never wanted to be some Poke hussy!
-
HEY GUYS, I totally finished my second team yesterday, and want to see what you experts think of it. I've also decided to replace my Tyranitar with a Torterra, although I'm not sure whether that's smart, as it gives two of my Pokemon quadruple weakness to ice, but anyways:
! Quadraxis/Metagross-Clear Body-Hardy: Zen Headbutt, Meteor Mash, Earthquake, Agility
Lagann/Ludicolo-Rain Dish-Bold: Giga Drain, Leech Seed, Rain Dance, Toxic (oh lol)
Arshes Nei/Froslass-Snow Cloak-Modest: Shadow Ball, Ice Beam, Ominous Wind, Double Team
Franky/Magmortar-Flame Body-Serious (?? I dunno why this has this): Flamethrower, Solar Beam, Thunderbolt, Sunny Day
Zaraki/Toxicroak-Dry Skin-Adamant: Poison Jab, Brick Break, X-Scissor, Bulk Up
Dordonii/Slowking-Oblivious-Modest: Surf, Psychic, Slack Off, Nasty Plot -
A quad weakness to something does not automatically make it bad, but having too many Pokemon in your weak to something makes it easy to exploit. Also, I thought that team had a Torterra in it - where is it? Finally I'd like to know what Natures and Abilities they have. In any case, based on their movepools alone,
Metagross@Expert Belt:
-Zen Headbutt
-Meteor Mash
-Earthquake
-AgilityThis set is fine. However I'm simply more inclined to use Ludicolo as a lead.
Ludicolo@Leftovers
-Giga Drain
-Leech Seed
-Rain Dance
-ToxicDamp Rock is a fine substitute for Lefties if you like, and that's only because I can see that Slowking, Toxicroak and Metagross benefit from the rain (providing firepower, healing and cancelling a Fire weakness respectively). Otherwise this set seems fine.
Froslass@Spooky Plate:
-Shadow Ball
-Ice Beam
-Ominous Wind
-Double TeamIf you're actually going to get an attacking Ghost, why not use Mismagius or Gengar? Both have better resistances and Mismagius gets to improve her firepower with Calm Mind while Gengar simply has superior SpAtk. I find that Froslass simply performs better in a Hail team, providing support through Spikes, Thunder Wave etc rather than attacking.
Magmortar@Charcoal:
-Flamethrower
-Solar Beam
-Thunderbolt
-Sunny DayYou already have a Rain Dance user (Ludicolo) and judging by the rest of the team I would say that Magmortar doesn't really fit in. Try a mixed Kingdra for more rain abuse.
Toxicroak@Expert Belt
-Poison Jab
-Brick Break
-X-Scissor
-Bulk UpTry Life Orb on this thing - you can get passive healing from the rain already so the recoil doesn't matter. Replace Poison Jab with Stone Edge since Poison has sucky coverage and you don't want to be walled by Flying types.
Slowking@Leftovers
-Surf
-Psychic
-Slack Off
-Nasty PlotI prefer Ice Beam over Psychic here because you really need a way to kill Dragons. Water Pokemon are stopped by Ludicolo anyway.
