12-13 are out by Aedriana, the Aya Asia arc, and Neuro anime is subbed up to like 5, I think.

Are some episodes chapters of the manga because some of those were boring.
The myspace one and the comedian.
I like Neuro but if the crimes are gonna be like that then i dunno.

No, I believe those were filler. MADHOUSE has basically taken Neuro far away from the appeal the manga established. Instead of packing it full of bizarre, grotesque imagery, it tends to take a OHAHAHA NEURO'S PICKING ON YAKO approach.
Although there are some good points to the anime. For instance, from a recent episode, Neuro vs. X

I'm getting pretty bored with the monster of the day stuff (had no problem with it in the manga, but Madhouse tries too hard to fit everything in to the same formula), but the X episodes are still great. I'm really hoping HAL gets the same treatment if they show his arc.
-
Wait, so they changed it so that X killed Yako's dad? Well, whatever, that was pretty cool.
-
making SUICIDE BY CHAINSAW plausible is pretty cool.
-
I liked it better when the detective killed her dad, because it could all tie back to the Denshi Drug and HAL.
But yeah, the anime's kinda fucked everything up. Like, I don't really remember that fight, even. Besides, why is X dodging attacks? When he was the Prime Minister of Japan, he got shot a bunch of times, both in the the chest and head, and nothing happened to him…
-
I haven't seen the anime episode yet, but they do fight in the manga. Anon's just getting to that part actually.
-
I just started watching the anime and I have a question. Why do the people become monsters and are Neuro and Yako the only ones who can see them as monsters?
-

I'm thinking that that's because it shows off their craziness related to their crimes. It's symbolic.

That makes sense. I was just watching the episode about the dog lady and she said that she didn't want to reveal her "true self" to her family. I'm having a hard time understanding what exactly she meant by that.
-
Basically, the mother (AKA Histerrier) lives a normal life with her husband and kids. In order to mantain that lifestyle so here kids grow up properly and here husband remains by her side, she is forced to vent her destructive impulses under the label of the serial bomber. She compares the freedom of letting loose your every inhibitions to the way dogs live; fancy free and without remorse or second thoughts. Hence, why she appears dog like when she drops her guise, and why she at first tried to hide it from her child that she was holding.
But honestly, read the manga. It explains things a little more clearly, and does an overall better job of storytelling.
-
I liked the way that the scissors guy was done in the anime, minus the green blood though…
-
(Why was this thread revived?)
The scissor guy was okay in the anime, and it saved me time manga-wise. I still thought the green blood was hilarious, though. And they made it way too obvious that "Fang" was the killer.
And the scanned chapters are finally up to the beginning of the HAL/Denshi Drug arc.
-

I think that's the point of the series sometimes. You know who the murderer is, but you have to figure out how they did it. That's usually what I do.
-
HAL ended in the anime just a bit after the scanslations started it too. First couple episodes kind of sucked, but the last two (covering everything from Higuchi's part to the end) picked up and were a lot better than I expected. Hope they can keep this up.
-

Sometimes the killer isn't all that obvious, but other times there's only one suspect, like with Aya…or the whole HAL thing.
-
Yeah, the manga was a lot less obvious than the anime on some cases. In stuff like Histerrier you didn't even get a single clue until Neuro revealed it.
-
or the office episode
Jinkies!
-
I've just given up on the anime.
Not worth my while, or anyone's while.
-
I'll watch the anime for now, then wait if there's going to be a U.S. manga release
-
Your spoiler tags didn't work…but that is seriously fantastic. Except...how is that a "power"? He just opened up his skin and stuffed a gun on up in there.
And he clearly gunned Neuro down, but he said that regular bullets can kill him now.
-
I don't think the guns themselves are his power, but based on his appearance a few chapters ago I'm guessing that his body is hollow or empty or something like that.
-
Ah. Seemingly useless power is bad-ass.
-
Okay, looks like I was completely wrong…
! Tera's power appears to be causing earthquakes and the machine gun arm was just a machine gun arm.
! Also sounds like Kasai, DRagon and Tera are part of some subgroup in the Bloodline called the "Five Fingers". Guess we'll be getting an elemental theme with them. -
We've had fire, water, and earthquakes, so yeah, I guess we are.
But the guy with the long hair and the beard, is that Sicks?
-
Yeah, that's Sicks.
-
Alright then.
It's hard when you can't read Japanese and Wikipedia sucks. I just guessed it was him since he's the only one I can't recognize from the Zetsubou Sensei parody.
-
Okay, looks like Tierra's abilities mainly revolve around using tools. He's using a giant stake to cause the earthquake and he pulled a weird scythe thing out of the ground.
Also I like how Jumpman and Female Neuro count as characters in the new popularity poll.
-
I think you're the only one here who's up-to-date on the Neuro chapters.
It's only scanlated up to the beginning of the HAL arc.
-
Yeah. Though someone started doing translations of the new chapters a few weeks ago on the LJ comm, so that's where I've been getting most of the stuff from. Normally I barely have any idea what's going on in the raws.
-
Where can I get those?

-
So there's like 7 other tools he can use that are super strong?
That's actually kinda lame. I liked it better when he stuck to the 777 tools.
-
Seems to be.
HAL arc spoilers
! He used one during the HAL arc too.
-
Well I haven't read the whole thing, so…thanks for the spoiler.
-
Finally managed to catch up on this series! I think it's awesome enough for a bump (since the last page had spoilers about something that's actually been scanlated now). And does Anonymous have a site or something? I'd like to know if they're still working on this.
-
wow did not see that death coming, well I mean obviously he couldn't succeed but death was unexpected
-
good thing that spoiler doesnt' really spoil nobody, as the person being referred to is hard to even expect, as you say.
Man, that came out terribly. I gotta go to sleep.
Yeah, I'm really excited about whether or not the showdown with Sicks will happen soon.
-
This made me so sad. Well, if Neuro cared about any of his "slaves" at all, it'll have been that guy so he's going to really tear into Sicks in their showdown.
-
Just finished this series so I have to bump this thread to express my fanboyism.
Great, great, great fucking series and the ending was the single greatest ending to any series let alone shonen that I have ever seen. At least to my knowledge. To be able to capture everything, fucking everything about what made the series so good and give such a satisfying, befitting ending…GAH SO GOOD>
No seriously, I don't expect the ending of any series to ever top this ending except One Piece's.Just so good><
This series is seriously underrated:(
-
I'm not sure I liked the ending too much. I loved the series, but the last arc was really all about generic shonen battles with flashy superpowers.
The battles were fun to read, but they weren't really part of the quirky demon detective story we had before.
-
I also have just finished reading this series and HOLY SHIT, it's good. Dark, suspenseful, funny as hell. And Neuro is one of the best damn manga characters ever conceived. Not just a pimp but THE pimp–it's a fact. It's also one of the very few series that I plan to reread.

To be able to capture everything, fucking everything about what made the series so good and give such a satisfying, befitting ending…GAH SO GOOD>YES. The last arc kept me on the edge of my seat until the very last chapter–really good stuff. And the ending really satisfied me to my very core; it's was so great to see:
! Spoilers for the ending; please read the series first if you haven't already.
! It was great to see Sicks get his creepy, Jesus-impersonating ass kicked. After what he did to Sasakuza, I wanted to see him suffer. And to see Neuro and Yako finding each other after 3 years and working together again made me so happy. Really, very happy. Those two were made for each other.
! God, please, someday–Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro 2.
@Wagomu:The battles were fun to read, but they weren't really part of the quirky demon detective story we had before.
Yeah, I missed that too. But I think it made the final battles all the more impressive on Neuro's part. He must have been so tired and hungry while he was fighting, having gone without puzzles for so long.
! And I think it really showed his depth of character to see him fight so hard for the sake of humanity, even to the point of approaching death (which ultimately would have undermined his original goal of protecting his food source). That's class, folks.
And I -love- Godai's character. Reminds me of Zoro a bit. Seeing him in a skirt (god, I love Neuro) is by itself worth reading the manga. xD@Thousand:
This series is seriously underrated:(
QFT. People, go read this series. It's really that good.
And now I must go find fanarts to satisfy my new NeuroxYako obsession u.
-
I've been watching this and loving it.
From the replies in here it seems I should be reading it instead?

In so many levels.

The anime definitely takes wide liberties with the manga's storyline. I'm in the process of watching the anime myself right now and I'm getting a lot of "WTF, when did this happen?" moments. A lot was changed or omitted outright. But it's great to see Neuro and Yako in action, so I've been enjoying it anyway. And Takehito Koyasu really nails his part as the voice of Neuro, in my opinion. Incidentally, he also provides the voice of Aokiji in the One Piece anime as well, if I'm not mistaken.
The manga is so much better in so many ways. It has a good pace and so many hilarious NeuroxYako moments. You just know when he gets his "Blank Grin of Doom" look that he's doing/thinking/planning something awful. xD
I was wondering, does anybody know if there has been any word on a second season of the anime?
-

I doubt a second season, since MTNN doesn't seem to be too popular in Japan.
… at least an OVA would have been nice. ;___; -

… at least an OVA would have been nice. ;___;Not too popular, huh? Figures. Maybe Yūsei Matsui should have added (or enhanced, depending on one's viewpoint) romantic undertones between Yako and Neuro, that probably would have given a boost to the fanbase. xD
Well, now that the series is concluded I suppose an OVA is always an option. The Hellsing anime wasn't renewed for a second season, but Madhouse came out with the OVA 4 years later. So, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for a similar outcome with MTNN.
Incidentally, has the chapter 202 omake & extras that had been included in the volume 23 tankōbon been scanned or translated anywhere yet? I found some pics of the extras in the MTNN LJ community, but haven't seen them uploaded anywhere (well, there was one person who uploaded the raws to Mediafire, but the link is dead now). I'd really like to read it. ;__;
Here are the few pics I found, if anyone hasn't seen them yet.
!
! LOL @ Neuro. So that's what he used that time-machine for. xD -
Lol at Akane's full body.
And yeah, Neuro definitely deserves Hellsing Level Ovas.
