I'd get this game if I could somehow get rid of everything past DB in it.
And, you know, completely change the fighting engine.

@Cain:
I've kinda passed on Tenkaichi games, and haven't played a DBZ game since Budokai 3. But i was a bit tempted with BT2, and now this game seems like my waiting has paid off as it seems this is the DEFINITIVE version (of course you know they're going to scrape the bottom of the barrel for more background characters for a BT4).
Actually, they'd probably focus more on GT for that one. Only other character pool left they haven't dove into yet.
Played this game for awhile today. They ditched story mode cutscenes for the most part, but there's a ton of dialogue while fighting. A major fix is the camera angle, works a LOT better now. It's also easier to do teleport-counters, which is insanely fun. Also, if you've got previous Sparking/NEO data, it'll transfer over, so I've got a huge handful of the characters unlocked already. Characters got new movesets, which is a nice surprise.
There's also a bunch of new stuff they added but I haven't had too much time to fully explore. I kinda hope a FAQ comes out soon, because I think potara fusions for character unlocking made a return…
Whoa, sounds great. So, when's the US release?

Hahahahaha the funniest part is I think I might've deleted my NEO data the other day
Tenkaichi 2 was bad, Tenkaichi 1 was all right. The fatal flaw with Tenkaichi 2 was the whole leveling up shtick: you could essentially take one set of earrings and max them out and put them on one character to make them uber powerful.
I hope Tenkaichi 3 balances this out to make it less broken, but no DBZ game can ever compare to this old Arcade Game they had… it only had a few characters, but it was awesome.
I'm likely not going to get this game at all. I'm more satisfied with DBZ:BT 2 and my DBZ fighting game collection will stop there. I picked that one up because I was very thrilled to learn that Yajirobe was FINALLY a playable character (yeah, I know… I'm very partial to him, don't hate me for this, as I will ignore any flames regarding this) even if he wasn't very useful in the game itself.
But yeah, it does seem like it's the same thing every time a new DBZ fighting game is rolled out.
I hope Dragonball characters don't have 3 lifebars while GT characters get 20.

If it wasn't for Yajirobe, Vegeta would of killed Goku in Giant Ape Form.
So, Yajirobe saved the fucking world multiple times by association.
Oh! I also wanna mention that story mode is a lot more bearable because they 1) nixed the flying around bullshit before every fight and 2) condensed fights. For example, the second fight is everyone vs Nappa. You start out as Tenshinhan, and it ends with Goku.
Yeah that definitely makes the game significantly more bearable.
That and cutscenes being nixed.
Is Tiencha still around?
What an awesomely bad fusion.
That's only in the Budokai games.
it was rather legendary. What was almost as good was Super Boo's Tenshinhan/Yamcha absorption.
Ah. I just checked on Wikpedia, and I don't think I've heard of a good 30% of these characters. Although Arale being in it is awesome. I might grab this, as the last DBZ game I played all the way through was Budokai 2.
Kid Chi-Chi, seriously?
The biggest problem with BT2 was that most people felt like they controlled the exact same way. Granted, only played it for about two hours or so, but the characters didn't feel different enough, aside from their energy blasts being different colors and shit.
Yeah, that was a pretty big problem, especially with the minor characters.
The thing that pissed me off was the "lesser" characters I really liked had only like 1 or 2 health bars, that get sapped within 5 seconds of fighting some generic "powerful" goon like Baby or Bojack.
Yea, but most people just intend to mash as their favorite character anyways.
and it's not about being good with characters, but being good at the game. Characters all play the same for the most part, but the system does allow for you to increase your skill level.
but yea, I still enjoy super dbz far more. I enjoy playing on the tournament stage every now and then though.
The imbalance keeps you from playing any of the more interesting characters though. At least with my friends as they end up playing generic saiyan garbage like broly or other overpowered boring characters.
I use frieza and gotenks most of the time against them.
Hyper Dimension for the SNES was the last enjoyable DBZ game, honestly. Want to remember that most of the characters played differently from one another, but it's been a long-fucking-time since then.
….HAH, turns out I still have my Sparking! NEO data afterall.
JAPS LOSE AGAIN

Are you serious? You actually prefered BT1 to BT2? Tenkaichi 1 sucked. I'm still convinced it was a marketing strategy. Make BT1 barely tolerable, then make BT2 what they could have made tenkaichi 1 and in that way, sell more. Douchebags.
But from what I've seen, Tenkaichi 3 looks very good. Definitely getting this.
It is a marketing strategy. Introduce a wholly new, but shitty, fighting engine the first game. Throw in a good amount of new characters and extras to make the second game slightly less shitty. When people are just about ready to stab you for making a trio of shitty games, have the third turn out to be good. Worked like a charm for Budokai, maybe this game won't be so bad.

Imagine trying to work through that shit for a DOZEN hours to get to worthwhile characters like Kid Goku. You have to fight Coola henchman.
@Komrade:

True. And before that, in Dragon Ball, if Yajirobe hadn't taken Goku to the Karin Tower himself when Goku promised him there'd be food waiting for him, then the series would've been over and Piccolo would've had control of the entire world.
For some reason playing as the budokai announcer seems totally badass.
I'll love to play as Farmer with Shotgon. By far the most powerful DB character in existance.
If there is to be another Sparking!/BT game, they'd either have to go henchmen crazy or do those useless GT villains.
I think they'll move on to another series though. Maybe not a fighter, but an action/adventure DB game. Would be sooo good if done right. But we don't want another Sagas… ugh...
If they made a new BT game then Giran would appear
I won't be surpise the following characters to be in BT 4: Murasaki, Colonal Violet, Advisor Black, General White, Adult Chi Chi, Ox King, and Launch's crazy form be playable.
Colonel Violet's not playable…
Lame.
I know. Colonal Violet even through, she didn't have an important part in the Dragon Ball manga, but they made her a bad ass in the anime for stealing all of Commander Red's money. heh.
We all know women can't fight. Colonel is just a pity title to make her feel better.
Ledgic for Tenkaichi 4/Sparking! GALAXY!
Seriously. Ledgic. Most badass GT character in existance.
Wouldn't trade Arale for him, though…
I rather just have "Dragon Ball: the Legend of the Monkey Boy", an all-out DB (no Z allowed) fighting game where you can have anything from kid Goku (circa meeting Bulma) to Shin & Ma Jr. Even without the Saiyans, aliens and such, it would still be a fun game by my standards.
That'd be great but about 20 people would buy it in the US.

Now that'd be one game I'd like to get, since I am more partial to DB than DBZ. What'd be great is to be able to re-enact some of the major fights that occured, such as Goku and Yajirobe fighting each other in that one scene where Goku eats that big fish and Yajirobe gets mad at him (my favorite episode of DB of all time, one that I always watch over and over), or the fight between Goku and Piccolo Daimaoh.
A pure Dragonball game would sell for crap in America, since most people here watch DBZ to see people shit ki diarrhea everywhere.
It's a shame since the Dragonball game for the GBA was great and looked a hell of a lot better then the GT one.

The most common complaint I saw about super: No Broly.
KAKAROTTO!!!! fires generic green blast

It was really sad when his special was the same thing.
I like Broly because he's pretty much an embodiment of everything that went wrong with the series
as well as the wrong things about the show that a lot of people worship.
Amazed that I never saw the Broly movies…heard the first was pretty good, the second was alright and the third...well, its basically Goten and Trunks fighting some gelatenous mass that originally "sort of" is Broly's clone.
Don't get me wrong, I actually did enjoy the first Broly movie. His voice (Bin fucking Shimada) was awesome, and I did kind of enjoy seeing him trash everything.
But…. christ he's a pretty stupid character
Don't think I said the character was good, its just that the whole concept that "there was a legendary Super Saiyan we never told you about before and he never appeared in the manga and achieved said 'ultimate power' even before Goku's battle with Frieza…and oh yeah, has a traumatic childhood since he and Goku were bunkmates as babies" does seem rathered tacked on. But hey, that also could be said about Garlic Jr. and he was thrown into both the movies and TV.
Lil' update:
-Arale is easily the best character in this game.
-There's a pretty funny 'What If' where Akkuman meets up with Freeza and King Cold when they come to Earth and kills them with his death beam.
-Anything Dragon Ball related in this game kicks major ass. There's even a 'What-If' where 16 comes looking for Kid Goku and you play as Hatchan to protect him.

Didn't I warn them? Akkuman kills anyone with evil in his heart! Take that, Frieza!
Ooooh, neat. What If's! I still find the What If Nightmare Cell had from the first Budokai amusing.
Does anyone know when will the OST or the main single(Super Survivor) be released?
I think Murasaki should be in it, anyone who survives a tower collapsing on them and pounding their head through solid ice has to be worth something. Heck, he may be weak but not on the same level as Yamcha. Well…maybe on the same level....now I wanna see Murasaki vs. Yamcha happen.
Here's the single "Super Survivor" available for download in it's full glory.
I wish this goddamn torrent would get seeders
