Law and Paul had great endings. Actually grabbed my controller the first time getting Law's (I FELT THE FOOL). But yeah, there were some bad ones, too: King, Asuka, Mokujin etc.
And like SMRPG, I don't see how anyone can hate Yoshi' Island.

Edit :who the hell likes yoshi island?
Yoshi's Island isn't Yoshi's Story, dammit. >:O Island was the good one. Story was the crap one.
I like yoshi's island
I just didn't know it was so acclaimed
@tony-kun: Oh I see then. Yeah, I guess that's sorta true for Tekken, can't deny it. And I can see why people wouldn't like a juggle heavy fighter even tho I love it personally (still suck in it tho)
The huge problem with juggle-heavy fighters is getting hit by any decent combo means you automatically lose, since you're juggled for 75%+. There's a chance you can come back and win, but not really. It's just nudging and poking at each other until one person lands a long string and seals the match. Which is really lame.
And yeah, Virtua Fighter [not sure if it still does in [I]VF5] doesn't allow you to mash a button while in the frames of another animation. If you press a button, the game is going to force you to do that attack that many times.
I see your point. Kinda wish they'd put a combo/juggle breaker system in Tekken 6. But oh well, still like it way better than ole VF.
And on that subject, I (I think) remember that the creators of VF and Tekken said they were dying to make Tekken vs VF, but they were mostly trying to figure out a way to blend the styles to please both fanbases. If they can ever figure it out, we just may see that in our lifetime.

Which brings a nice segway to marvel vs capcom 2…
I think Tekken 6 just seems like it's going more for fan service than being a good fighter.
Not that that's a bad thing, since tekken has some awesome characters.
but I don't think a damage cancel or whatever is being added. Ever.
If it was, people would hate it.
@Radical:

That, along with street fighter 2, always surprise me every year when they are still at evo.
but then I remember the unwritten rule that the most popular things in life are more than likely the most shitty.
but it's kinda sad that new fighters coming out every year are constantly being overlooked for pieces of shit like MvC2
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 isn't about "juggling combos" or anything – that shit is even worse. All you do is battery with Storm, do infinites with Magneto, idiotic strings with Sentinel, etc. Each god tier character has their own separate class of nonsense.
MvC2 keeps appearing at EVO because, despite such a bad game, it has an excellent community. They're willing to do all kinds of shit to get together and practice. Moreover, they're always on time for EVO matches and have a good reputation with the people that run the convention. It's also practically a tradition, when it comes to fighters, as many people believe it to be blasphemous to not have a MvC2 spot at things like EVO.
But yeah, every fighter needs something like Guilty Gear's Burst system.
People probably play MvsC2 and Tekken at tourneys probably cuz they really like it. I know, hard to believe right.
And add GGXX to that. I just don't get the hype about it. I've played and played it, I just don't like it at all (although it does indeed have some neat charcter designs). And Instant Kills are pretty useless and it's a damn pokefest.

Uh, Guilty Gear's "hype" comes from the fact that it's probably the most balanced fighting game on the market, extremely deep [yet simple enough for anybody to pick up and learn], actually has a story, has interesting characters, amazing mechanics [Roman Cancels, Burst, Dust, etc.], and all that jazzy shit. It took several installments to get to that point, but it finally has, while other series that are up to their 5th or 6th game keep pouring out the same crap.
But yeah, Instant Kills are just their for fun. Or if you sweep A.B.A three times and have a fast Instant Kill.
@Radical:
Edit :who the hell likes yoshi island?
….You're serious? A lot of people consider it the best mario game for the SNES. And the best mario plataformer ever.
You still don't really hear people go "OH GOD I CAME IN MY PANTS FOR YOSHI'S ISLAND", so it's understandable that he thought it wasn't immensely popular.

Curious, is it the most balanced because everybody loves it or because it's actually the most balanced? Or could it be that vets have yet to discover it's exploits? Or could it be those "neat Hi-res graphics with low animation"?
I'm not trying to get a rise or anything out of you, I just find this game to be a wee bit better than average 2d fighter at best. Also find it to be highly overrated as people seem to think of it as the savior of 2d fighting. I played it, but I'm not seeing the magic in it, maybe I'm just getting disillusioned with games at this point in my life.
I can see people disliking guilty gear for the same reasons as Virtua Fighter. Much Larger learning curve than the more popular street fighter and tekken that dominate the market.
and I think Radical Jack was hinting at the infinites with his MVC2 segway.
and I had no idea of how great the MvC2 community is. I base my opinion of the game solely on how shitty it is.
and how the hell is Guilty Gear a poke fest?
I mean the best place to start with why you don't like it is figuring out how much you know about it.
and judging from that comment, you probably don't know that much about it. (Not a flame, but I don't think GG is by any definition, a poke fest.)
Curious, is it the most balanced because everybody loves it or because it's actually the most balanced?
Seeing as how you can literally pick any character and easily win a tournament, yeah, it's the most balanced. And everybody loved it far before it became so balanced, so.
I'm not trying to get a rise or anything out of you, I just find this game to be a wee bit better than average 2d fighter at best.
It's not like everybody in the GG community just decided to start praising it one day. Guilty Gear XX Slash changed everything about the game, in terms of balancing issues.
It only seems average if you don't understand the amazing metagame. A metagame that rewards any and every character you could ever want to play with.
But yeah, am not taking this as some kind of "rise" for an argument, so no worries.
as people seem to think of it as the savior of 2d fighting.
That's kind of because it is.
but how the hell is Guilty Gear a poke fest?
It's not, unless you play with Eddie. And that's only when he doesn't have out his puppet.
There's poking, sure, since any fighter has it. But Guilty Gear is waaaaaaaaaaay too mobile and fast-paced to rely on poking. If there were air dashes and air blocking in Street Fighter, you better believe it wouldn't have any poking either.

Uh, a fighter being difficult to learn has NEVER stopped from liking it. I actually enjoy hard games very much (which is why I love DMC, SF3 and Ninja Gaiden) I just prefer to have my fighter actually be enjoyable to play.
And from the matches I've played of GGXX, it seemed to be a pokefest. I actually owned the first, and played the second for a bit. And that's what I got from it. Maybe I need to give it yet another try.
So okay, I'll buy this Accent Core and give GGXX another shot, then re-review it. If I still don't like it, I'll be back to talk about it. If I do like it, you guys had better be prepared to lose constantly to me.
And I thought of another game that I dislike. Half-Life 2. I believe I was half-way through it, then stopped caring. The basic core FPS gameplay was average at best, honestly, I'd say even Halo 2 surpassed it in that. I Like the fact that it got rid of the noob friendly auto-aim tho, and I liked the Gravity Gun immensely.
But other than that, the life system where you have to find Health lying around (although it's good for a challenge) was outadated. And the plot was just uninteresting. But yeah, I mostly found the game to be pretty damn generic.

Bring it on, fuckshit.
Got any idea of which character you're going to use?
How could I forget? I hate the Castlevania games. It's got the same problem I have with Metroid games, except they're not even fun. Boktai is way betteru.
@Cyringohn:

Hhmmm, not sure yet. I don't wanna play with Sol anymore, seems alittle to easy to play with. Wanted to continue working on Chipp, but he takes damage like a bitch (atleast in the version I used to own). Any recommendations?
I'll probably buy it tommorow for the PS2 when I go get Call of Duty 4 and trade that shit Naruto 360 in.
EDIT: And I play pretty defensively (not a turtler tho) and I like to bait my oppenents. So that should give a clue what character might fit my playstyle.
Curious, is it the most balanced because everybody loves it or because it's actually the most balanced? Or could it be that vets have yet to discover it's exploits? Or could it be those "neat Hi-res graphics with low animation"?
I don't think I've played fighters as much as you and I can't speak for anyone else, but out of all the fighting games, Guilty Gear really does keep everything balanced. At least where the characters themselves are involved. One isn't really automatically better than the other. It's either you were better than the other person or the opposite, which is nice since people can't pull the "cheap character" card anytime someone loses.
Different strokes for different folks is basically it I guess,

Once you get most of the basics down, it really is alot of fun to play. When I first started i was horrible. I don't think you'd be able to beat me though.
@kidany: Doesn't take me long to learn a 2d fighter. I can adapt pretty quickly to those types of game. And I'd eat you for breakfast. >:(
Hhmmm, not sure yet. I don't wanna play with Sol anymore, seems alittle to easy to play with. Wanted to continue working on Chipp, but he takes damage like a bitch (atleast in the version I used to own). Any recommendations?
Sol isn't an easy character at all anymore. Now, he focuses on hard-to-perform [well, not really "hard" once you get it down] Sidewinder loops, which utilize his new Sidewinder attack. Basically, you have to align the hitbox of Sidewinder just right, and if you, it causes wallbounce. Repeat this about three or four times, then go into knockdown. Here's Sol, and a good example of his Sidewinder Loop is at 00:34:
Chipp still takes damage like a bitch, but he's a lot better now. Everybody is a lot better now.
You'd have to specify on what kind of character you like to play, first. Strong and slow, strong and fast [with lag], weak and fast, do you like being able to take a hit, do you like being extremely mobile, do you like long or small combo strings, do you like having lots of range, do you like being in their face, etc.
Uh, a fighter being difficult to learn has NEVER stopped from liking it. I actually enjoy hard games very much (which is why I love DMC, SF3 and Ninja Gaiden) I just prefer to have my fighter actually be enjoyable to play.
Was not in anyway implying that was your reason for disliking it.
DMC is pretty easy though.

Guilty Gear for PS1?
There's you're problem right there. XD

Glad to hear it. Especially if you've only played GG and GGX
BUT, my May and Slayer will CRUSH you.
Thanks guys, youv'e made this thread so much more topical for me.
Guess I'll stick will Sol then since they changed him up a bit. That loop doesn't look too difficult. A good night of training, I may be able get it down.
For my second, I guess I'd like a strong and fast charcter with lag. So who'd be a choice choice in that category.
To stay on topic, I never liked the first gen Pokemon games (And I not gonna play the new ones). I had and beat Yellow when I was younger. After playing the "advanced" RPGs the likes of Super Mario RPG, the SNES FF game etc., I just didn't like the basicness of the series. It's was just too big of a step back (even tho it came out after those games I mentioned). I like something alittle more deep than rock, paper, scissors.

The "difficult" part about learning it is memorizing where to align the hit box for each character, since it's different for everybody. You can't just do a basic Sidewinder Loop on everybody and expect it to work, especially since hit boxes vary greatly, their weights vary greatly, etc.
Once you nail that down, the loops aren't that bad. Learning how to set up into the loops is where the challenge comes in.

Sol, Slayer, H.O.S., and, depending on how you look at it, May. Definitely Sol and Slayer, though. Mistiming a Volcanic Viper [Sol] or a Dandy Step [Slayer] can lead to very, very bad things.
I noticed there was a DK64 thread on this forum, and that reminded me of another game that I loathe…
Banjo-Fuckin'-Kazooie.
Banjo-Fuckin'-Kazooie.
Fuck you, bitch.
Can understand why people hate collect-a-thons, though.

Yeah, I forgot about hitboxes. That defenitely will present a problem especially for some of the smaller characters. Guess it'll take a bit longer for me to learn loops.
If Slayer is that badass Vampire guy, then he'll be my second. I just love that guys design and the way he lays on the ground smirking at you when you defeat him. Just a sweet design all around. And I'll stop there as I have yet again, gotten a thread way off-topic.
I say we stop this and bump(remake) the GG thread. Since that needs this attention.
and add the gamecube naruto games. Goddamn talk about overrated.
Another example of combo centered games as well.
@Cyringohn:

Collect-a-thons, I don't mind.
Banjo and Kazooie just failed as game characters, thats all.

If it wasn't for the damned solar sensor.
What a coincidence, I'm also buying that Wii Naruto game tommorow tony. So yeah, make the threads. (although I'm not gonna be able to contribute much to the discussion yet)

Slayer is very dependent on air combos now, which is kind of lame, but oh well. He's really boring in Accent Core, since all he does is poke with 5K or 2K, then go into a Big Bang Upper string for 50%. Which is why he's S tier. Damn bastard.
And it's not like we didn't talk about VF5 for about 90 pages.
On Topic: So, how bad was that Xbox360 Naruto game, gaara?
Lulz @ Gohn, when did you find out that gaara was my alter ego?

It'd be nice if we could get a mod to merge these posts into that thread, though.

HAVE ALWAYS KNOWN, FUCKSHIT. _COVER_BLOWN.EXE
As for Naruto 360:
+Most complete Konoha you'll ever see, u can waste a couple of hours just exploring
+Excellent graphics
+The Jutsu system is pretty damn good (each character has a different minigame involved in the use of their super attacks)
+Online
-The fighting system is ass. Seems like the game takes a while to reconize your inputs which is odd cuz the jutsu's are implenmented well. It's slow, shallow and barely captures the feel of the show. It's just a shitty fighting system bar the usage of jutsu's. It's kinda like they mixed Tekken, VF and Power stone and then made it suck.
-The story mode starts out dreadfully slow. It's a godammn collection quest (and not a good one at that) for the first few hours. Then you finally get to the good stuff, but unforntunately like I said, the fighting system sucks.
@tony-kun: Oh, haven't played the GC Naruto games yet. So I don't know anything of it.
If it wasn't for the damned solar sensor.
Boktai DS fixed that, thankfully. Solar sensor was a pretty bad idea to begin with.
I meant to add the GC naruto games to this topic
and naruto 360 looks pretty horrible as well.
I'd wait for CC2's naruto 3d game if I'd ever want to play one.

Yeah, thats pretty much what 1UP was saying about the game as well. Still, it seems like it something that could be worth a rental or a drastically marked down pre-owned purchase whenever I get a 360.
Game I like that is hated by everyone:
World Heroes Perfect
Never been much of a World Heroes fan either. My bud used to play the first one on Sega Genesis all the time. Fucking hated it. Just felt real sluggish, and the characters were pretty cheesy. I did like their appearance in NGBC tho. Other than that, ain't never touching a WH game again.

World Heroes Perfect is better.
@Cyringohn:
You still don't really hear people go "OH GOD I CAME IN MY PANTS FOR YOSHI'S ISLAND", so it's understandable that he thought it wasn't immensely popular.
Except it isn't immensely popular because it came out quite late into the Super Nintendo's life. It was a great game, but not exactly popular among the lines of Super Mario 64.
How could I forget? I hate the Castlevania games. It's got the same problem I have with Metroid games, except they're not even fun. Boktai is way betteru.
Can't play when the sun's out? You're fucked. That's the #1 problem with Boktai. The early Metroid and Castlevania games (except Simon's Quest, that one sucked) were incredible. The DS Castlevania games have proven to be quite fun, as well.
Boktai DS fixed that, thankfully. Solar sensor was a pretty bad idea to begin with.
The fact that it took TWO games to realize that was a mistake was a mistake within itself.
Yeah, the DS Castlevania games are fun fun fun.
I think I'm one of the few females in the universe who loathes the Kingdom Hearts series. I played the first one, and I didn't bother to finish it. I tried the second. I really did. I'm convinced Kingdom Hearts II is a subcontextual gay orgy.
But other than that, I dislike very few titles actually. The only ones that come to mind are Resident Evil, Halo, Perfect Dark, GTA series and FFVII.
Resident Evil seemed interesting, but it never really held my interest. Zombies aren't my thing I guess. Eternal Darkness, now that was a zombie game I liked. (<- is an Anthropology minor).
Halo is only fun with friends, and the GTA series is just plain pointless in my opinion. Just shooting things because you can isn't my cup of tea either :p.
Perfect Dark was just…I dunno. I played it once so long ago and I disliked it, and now I can't remember why XD. I didn't play FFVII myself, but I watched my older cousins play through the whole thing. I remember laughing when Aeris died. We all did, actually XD.
