Funimation uncut dvd sets

Anime movies have deleted scenes on DVDs. Since when?
Well, Final Fantasy Advent Children did… And that's the only anime movie I own on DVD =/
-

Quexy, erm I thought you said you had a boyfriend?
-
I love that poster. Luff and Vivi look awesome.

Yes, I agree.
Although Luffy's hairline does look a bit odd, IMO.
-
Well, I bought a "My Dad's A Rock Star" dvd that was made by Funimation, but the series was Nelvana. The Extra's aren't much. Its not necciary a Anime DVD, but it's still a DVD set; I was dispointed. It has Part 1, not all of a Interview with Gene Simmons, Stills from the episodes on the disc, a unreadable bio of Gene Simmons, a Clip of an episode on the disc labeled a "Music Video" and Trailers.
I just hope One Piece gets better treatment.

interesting…...so, whuts that all about?
3 discs, so can't have that much, but it also has the english?
anyone know anything about it? =o
If anything, my guess is that its the Singapore English dub.
I'm….a little tempted to check this thing out for myself to see what the deal is though.
Oh, as for the whole whole "Alabaster" thing. I see this as the "Episode OF Alabaster" which takes place IN Alabasta. Get it?
If not, then please, try to ease off the bitching. This was already announced for quite some time. We already knew this was coming for quite some time. It can't be helped, and quite frankly, I'm getting I little bored of seeing the "THATS THE WAY ODA WROTE IT SO ITS A SIN!" argument.

Then why don't we just call Zoro, ZoLo then, if you use that argument. Same thing with Flanky. Using Alabasta is the same level of "wrong" that using Flanky is. Yes, Oda spelled it once that way, by mistake… but he spelled it the other way, far more times.
Crazy Crazy Laimbow Stal. I'm a Crazy Laimbow Stal~
-
Oda never spelled it as "Flanky". That was just a video game commercial.

For a crappy, forgettable game at that.

Don't you mean clazy?
As for the Alabasta/Arabasta debate, it can go either way. Oda wrote it out both ways in the manga. He used Alabasta on the Eternal Pose in Whiskey Peak and Arabasta on the map of the country later on. Oda may be more skilled in English than most manga artists, but it's probably not perfect. He's bound to make a bit mistakes here and there.
I prefer to use Alabasta. It rolls off the tounge easier and makes more sense in that it's referring to alabaster.
-
wow Nami's boob are huge in that poster
No, not really. Considering the huge knockers she has now.

Avoid that site like the plague. A majority of their products are bootlegs and aren't worth the cash.

Whoo, This "Episode of Alabaster" thing Might just be a mistake after all!
The Right Stuff, the only site currently holding preorders of it, has changed the title on their site to "Episodes of Alabasta"!!
Which isn't "Arabasta" as it should be, but It's better than Alabaster… -

M-M-MONSTER FAIL. It was written Alabasta (note) ONCE. It has been written Arabasta every other time.

K-F has a list.
…...... -
But You can't say "Arabasta" without sounding funny, while "Alabasta" sounds so natural.
-
Well, you need to stay confident until proven wrong, then admit defeat.
I admit defeat, it should be Arabasta.
-
@Sogeking:
Congratulations on fail. It's supposed to be Alabasta. It's been written that way several times.
MASSIVE F-A-I-L~
It's Arabasta. Oda just screwed up once.
Heck, it's even written in english as Arabasta everywhere, and subbed a Arabasta everywhere~
EDIT:I admit defeat, it should be Arabasta.
DANG IT!!! T.T You fool D= Why did you have to admit defeat before I could battle with you about it!?
GEEZE!! Way to kill the mood. >=P
-
so this should be (JP listings) 144-157? or 142-155?
I have no clue what the numbers are in US listings now.. XD -
Yeah. I doubt online stores would even have the DVD's before they're even out on the shelves… Wel some retailers might have them on their online sites, but come on usually you can tell what's a bootleg.
-
As an added bonus, I would like to point out that this week's Right Stuf sale is 40% off all Funimation titles. This includes the pre-order of this movie. That brings this probably well worth it $30 title down to a whopping $18. I'm pre-ordering mine this weekend, along with a few other Funi discs I've been meaning to pick up. :)
-
Won't places like Wal-Mart have the DVD for like $16-$20 when it comes out, tho?
-
If the retail price was $20 they'd have it around for $16-20. Since retail's $30 you might be waiting around for a big sale before it's that low. You might get lucky and get it for cheap, and it'll probably hit discount sites like deepdiscountDVD and Overstock.com. Personally, $18's a great deal and I'd rather buy this thing now than wait around for a good deal after its release. High pre-order numbers are also a good indication to a company of fan support, so there's that as well.
-
I just don't see a point in ordering something online which I can buy in a store.
-
Indeed. Regardless if it's $30 retail, places like Best Buy will have it far cheaper. Hell, this would be useful if the DVD boxsets were actually available to pre-order.
-
I'm fine with Alabasta the same way I'm fine with Krillin. It's just far easier to say.
-
No kidding. I know there's lots of evidence, but I like Alabasta and will continue to use it. Don't like it? Tough shit.
-
y'know what, I have No problem with people using Alabasta. it's when people say I fail for using "Arabasta" that I get pissed. XD
-

So lets not complain about people using Zolo, Nefeltari, or Rogue Town either then~
kay'
-
Aside from Nefeltari all the others could possibly be translated as such because of the whole "R" and "L" thing when translating from Japanese. Sure they chose to use Zolo to avoid hitting on copyright laws of Zorro but it's not that big a deal. Also Alabasta doesn't matter just as little as it's a namesake from Egypt that Oda decided to use in his own way.

The only one among those that can be taken that way is "Zolo". Nefertari is taken from Nefertiti, and Logue Town is taken from ProLOGUE and EpiLOGUE.
-
Nefertari is taken from Nefertiti
Not quite, Nefertari has an even more direct origin than that. Nefertari was the wife of Rameses the Great, who ruled Egypt for 66 years and is regarded as the greatest Pharoah ever. Also she was the only consort to be deified during her lifetime. Oda really knows how to pick em.
-
Haha xD
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nefertari
Vivi is actually in the Wikipedia page of "Queen Nefertati", in the "popular culture" section.

I knew it was something…but I couldn't remember so I went with "Nefertiti".

What Buuhan said. Not to mention, Rogue Town isn't home to rogues or anything when there's Naval officers crawling all over the place.
Plus the whole "beginning and ending" bit about the town wouldn't make much sense if read as Rogue Town.
-

That was my point…
My point was that just because Rogue Town and Arabasta "could work", if you interpret its meaning a certain way, it's not what Oda intended. He's written them both in english. It's Logue Town and Arabasta. -
Actually, my whole post was just toward the bolded part; the Logue Town bit. :P Since Oda wrote is as Alabasta AND Arabasta, there's really no problem with either. However, Alabaster… >___>;

I'm surprised that it took so long before anyone mentioned that. Actually, could someone post an image of the manga-scenes that spelled it with an R? Because all the manga-scans I've seen so far used the "Alabasta"-spelling.
-
K-F has a list.
-
Yea. I know that Alabasta was used once, but Arabasta was used all of the other times, and even on the official maps.
Based on the evidence, there is no other conclusion to draw. The official name is Arabasta.
But listen to Dythim. He generally knows what he's talking about.
-
Don't you boneheads get it? KF don't make the rules. Stop using them as a "quick way" to have an example.

I know they don't make the rules. However, Oda wrote it this way every time, except once. That's reason enough.
