It's very unique. The villains are different from run of the mill people, like the Earl and Road. Recently though, it's gotten a bit worse, but it's still a great manga with a badass drawing style and storyline.
And yes, Tyki will fuck you up, he's that badass.

You can call me stupid or whatever, but I seriously didn't expect Cross Marian to appear and was completely surprised by it! :blink: As I'm loyal to my occupation as a fangirl, I had to go SQUEAL! and stare at the final page in awe. Oh well, that's way better than witnessing the awakening of Chaoji's Innocence. Friggin' Chaoji's. I performed such a crushing face palm when this happened that I could've almost broken my nose or whatnot… so, with the help of a general, please get the fuck out of there already. I really like Allen, don't get me wrong, but if he says something like: "I can't leave Kanda and Krory behind!" I shall... do stuff. We'll see.
With that said: in general the concept and art style of D. Gray-Man are much to my liking and I will continue to support this series. \o/

I'm pretty sure they were guardian Akuma, and Cross's innocence did something that made him impersonate them. That's the theory going around right now, seeing as how Cross can convert Akuma and stuff.
Another theory I've heard a lot is that Cross's right eye is a cursed one, like Allen. It's believable, but since he always wears that mask thing over that eye…
Anyways, Cross's reappearance makes me forget all about the pent up fear of 126, thinking that Chaoji would beat Tyki down. Hopefully Cross will do his shit, and maybe Chaoji will do something even and make us hate him less.

I'm half agreeing with that, and half not.
I don't want D. Gray-Man to turn into Naruto, what with mindless battles and interactions between two groups. I want to see what's up with the other branches, perhaps recruit a handful more exorcists (We need a cowboy person with a six-shooter Anti-Akuma Weapon. I think it'd be awesome.) then they can progress into a war. Right after this big battle, many exorcists are wounded and/or dead, so a war this soon wouldn't be feasible.

meh, w/e. I think I'm gonna take a break from grayman and let some chapters build up, and pick it up later. At the rate it's going now, I find myself liking it less and less each week.

We all knew Cross Marian was cool, but who knew this cool? I always thought Tikki was Hoshino-sensei's go-to cool guy but it looks like she reserved a lot of cool for Cross. Dayum.

I was originally going to stop reading for a while until this arc ended, but I heard Cross showed up, so I decided to read the last two chapters, and damn, my interest is totally renewed. Cross's complete ownage in this chapter was insane.

I absolutely love D. Gray-Man's new art style, it's so unique compared to other Jump titles. Cross has the best Innocence ever, I don't think many people could have called him having two Innocence…

Well, technically one of the Innocences isn't his. It's the parasite-type innocence belonging to the corpse of the woman Cross calls Maria (hence Grave of Maria), which Cross manipulates with magic. The gun Judgement is his personal Innocence.

I don't think the art quality dropped so much as it was unfinished. That happens in Jump sometimes (particular with HunterxHunter as the artist is sick a lot). They don't finish all the shading and inking but have the basic outlines so that we know what's going on. Then when the tankoubon is published everything is finished and polished.
Often too a manga-ka will change a page or a panel when it goes to tankoubon. Jump was always intended to get people to buy the manga, after all, not just promote sales of itself.

Well, D. Gray-Man gets into filler hell fairly early, but the fillers pertaining to the Kanda's, Barry's, and Suman's past are nice (they were taken from a book that the author of D. Gray-Man wrote) Other than that, episode 18, and the Leaf of Revival arc, all of the fillers are horrible. I refuse to watch anymore D. Gray-Man until they actually depart for Edo.
Read the manga though, it just got so epic.

They are exactly at Ch.45, second to last chapter in Vol.5, but in the wrong area to start it because the filler messed everything up.

IDK why but this chapter looked incredibly crisp and clear. The characters facials expressions also looked really different, it looks soooo much better. Maybe Hoshino's assistants have been drawing lately, or the other way around. But this chapter's art = win. Reminds me of Bleach with detail, and backgrounds.

I end up staring at grayman pages for like 5 mins trying to figure out what the hell just happened.
It wasn't bad, it was just overly good.(Too much detail that it loses clarity).
I'm glad it was simplified. but the fact that like the first 3 pages were the same art it's always had, then after that it went down makes me think this was a time issue, rather than a change in art style.(Unless she decided to change around page 3.)

FUNimation would do a good job with it. Chris Patton as Tyki FTW. …Except his contract with FUNi got severed, didn't it? Oh well...
