It's a fun trip to 70, the quests are a lot better and there is much more gankage. I haven't hit 70 yet, so I have no comments on the rep grind. However, I do know that a lot of it has to do with running instances, and the instances in Outland are much better than the ones in Azeroth.

Getting key'd for Outland instances is a huge bitch too. Most of them require to you run multiple Heroic instances, which requires that you have a lot of reputation, which requires that you run those same instances in Normal mode about 10-15 times, etc. It's such a tedious progress. Bluh.
-
Which instances would those be? Hyjal (and therefore Black Temple) are the only ones that require revered with the factions (since you need all the Heroic keys as part of Hyjal). There is no attunment for TK and SSC anymore, and Karazan required no faction grinding either.
-
There's no fucking attunement for Tempest Keep and Serpentshine Cavern now? … Fuck you, Blizzard.
-
The chains still exist for flavor, but you don't need to do them anymore since 2.12.
-
Must'a been shortly after Gohn quit.
It's annoying when they do that. Some people put in effort to do something, then they just make it pointless a few patches later.
-
Eh. It makes no difference really. If a guild can't take down Gruul and Magtheridon (part of the now obsolete chains), theres no reason they should even step foot in SSC and TK. The invisible ceiling set by the attunement quests still exist.
-
Silly World of Warcraft and its horrible progression ladder that can never appeal to casual gamers.
Can't wait for Warhammer to swoop in.
-
Most MMO's end game has been like that (Not counting shit like City of Heroes). I'm sure Warhammer's endgame will be like the rest in that aspect as well. Mind you, that will not stop me from giving it a shot. My friends are all into the figurines game forever (I could never be dragged into doing it. Too boring/costly). I'm more than willing to give the MMO a play though.
-
Warhammer's end game is nothing like that. Basically, the "end-game" consists of a giant RvR battle against the opposing faction's capital city. Once you take it, quest givers appear and they give you quests to get the "best armors and gear." There's no need to grind instances over and over again. Paul Barnett has a personal hatred of having to grind the same things constantly, so he made sure that the game has none of that nonsense.
That, and you can level up in PvP. That, alone, is worth buying the game.
-
Good. Maybe there will finally be a game where I will like the pvp system.
-
I just hope you're not totally fucked if you suck/lose at PvP. I'd hate to get my shit ganked all the time.
-
What, in Warhammer? Considered that there isn't really any solo PVP, you should be fine. It all happens in one area of a zone with multiple people around you, helping. The goal of the RvR zones is to "conquer" that zone's tier, not to get solo kills.
-
You're still going to have assholes camp the fields to get kills. :P
I may also give Warhammer a try, just because that scene with the Chaos Warrior against all of those Tauren was awesome.
-
You're still going to have assholes camp the fields to get kills. :P
You can't enter fields that are for lower level characters.
If you enter an RvR field that is too low of a level to you, you are literally transformed into a chicken that can only peck for 1 point of damage.
-
There's no dueling?
-
There might be. Not sure if they've said or not.
-
There is. But this is the wrong thread for WAR talk :(

SO HOW 'BOUT THAT ILLIDAN WHAT A BOOB
On Topic: New expansion doesn't look all that interesting. They really need to implement large-scale conflict, complete with cannons, ballista and other siege machines, like they promised before the game was released.
-
Has anyone ever beaten Illidan? Just wondering because I heard that it's supposed to take like 50 people to do it.
-
One guild did it like a week or two after the patch. But they are a "Pro" guild with backing from some gaming hardware company.
It takes about 40 (cap for a raid) plus a couple of powerful NPCs.
And Gohn they said the expanison will have siege weapon.
I might get back into wow for it. If only for for the 10 new levels and hero classes. Haven't played in a couple of months. I'm never around for instances and don't PvP. All that leaves is grinding for epic mount and frankly I'm not in the mood to.
-
You can't bring more than 25 into Black Temple. Illidan is cake compared to some of the other bosses in BT. They'll be buffing him up soon.
-
Oh yeah forgot that focusing on smaller raids now.
-
@Cap'n:

Nihilum, a European guild, defeated Illidan on June 5th. They were the first to kill just about every major Burning Crusade boss.
-
Personally, I just want the Phoenix Kael'Thas drops.
Would you guys recommend doing any particular raids, because my guild went from Molten Core to Kharazan, skipping just about everything. I have yet to experience any of the other raids. So I really have no clue how it works.
BTW, I'm kinda…stuck in Outland. Every time I log-in I DC, the lag is terrible. Any way to fix this and get myself moved somewhere?
-
I think it might be Khaz'Modan…everytime I try to log into that server to play one of my two Alliance characters the latency rate is horrible, but Proudmoore is fine.
-
Lag as in what? Delay or your screen is glitchy?
Just fool around in your Video settings, lowering everything if need be.
-
Onyxia can be fun, since it's basically just some trash mobs, then a huge boss fight, like Mag's Lair in Outland. Naxxramas is okay; it's very long and tedious, though.
Oh, and if you haven't, go into ZG by yourself [just party up with a friend and make it a Raid group] and sneak to Hakkar. It's really fun to spit at him and dance in front of him.
EDIT: Lag is different from the game slowing down due to graphical stress. You can cut your setting to a minimum, but if your connection is being laggy, it won't help anything.
-
I can;t even GET TO A MENU or I'd have teleported out a looooong time ago. It's fine now, I've always had lag issue sin Outland, but I guess later on when less people decided to play, it improved.
-
Have you tried contacting tech support? And are you sure it's just outland? Do any other characters have a problem playing?
-
Just a random question. How long it takes to "beat" WoW and BC? 100 hours?
-
you cant really "beat" wow since it keeps expanding all the time, but to go as far as you can today it really depends on how much you play, for instance a shut in nerd with nothing better to do than play wow every hour that god sends could probably do it in a month maybe less, but for a casual player it could very well take up to 6 months or even a year it all depends on how hardcore you are.
-

If it's your first time, a couple of months. But that's if you play 5+ hours a day.
For somebody that barely has any time to play, i.e. 1-2 hours per day, reaching Level 70 takes forever. And we won't even get into the constant trekking through instances for gear.
-
i'm the kind of person who plays only a couple hours a day and messing around with alts so I took 11 months (got it on xmas and dinged thanksgiving) to hit 60. 70 took a month or two after BC was released.
I think my play time on haggis was at like 3 days when I dinged 60 but that was a long time so no real idea.
-
WoW isn't a game that you really "beat". It beats you, lol.
Even if you make it to level 70, go through every dungeon, max out your professions, and get the best gear you can possibly get, you can still have fun doing battlegrounds and arenas. There's some people that even play WoW entirely for RP. And some people are altaholics and keep creating new races and classes to level into a never ending cycle.I can't remember when I got the expansion, it was sometime between April and May…and my Belf is level 56 now.
-
Can you check his /played time cosmic? It give us a better idea of the actual time.
-
15 days, 4 hours, 43 minutes.
Someone else who is level 60 had only 9 days +, goes to show how I waste time lol.
-
Wow I was really off with my three days. Heck maybe It said 30 :)
Don't feel bad. Think how much time you must waste waiting for groups, in the AH, working on professions, travel time. etc.
-
Question for those of you who play this game, is this something that requires a great amount of your free-time to participate in? It seems like something that needs to be heavily organized and planned ahead of time amongst several dozen players.
Also, is it really worth paying a constant sum for this game? I'm not trying to mock anyone, I'm just curious why people think it's worth it.
-
Well it's easy to solo though just doing quests as they come, but I say but if you want to do an instance (much funner and better rewards) You need group and a couple of hours to get it done.
The only thing that takes a lot of planning is the big raids and you won't have to worry about that for a long while.
Bout the cost, frankly I never thought much about it. after all 15 bucks a month is only 50 cents a day. If you make some good friends and have some fun it's well worth it.
-

Yeah…I spent most of my time tonight looking for lockboxes to level my lockpicking, and sometimes I just go around mining. And the other day I think I spend a couple of hours waiting for an Alliance raid...in the end we got so tired of waiting we just went and found them lol.
@Archibald:

It depends on what you're doing. When you're just starting out, you're moslty soloing, questing, and you can take a small amount of time each day, or each week to play. When you get to higher levels, and you want to organize a big dungeon raid, it does take time. But if you're in a guild, sometimes guilds just have a designated day and time that everyone can make it, and so it's not so bad. Some people aren't into those things at all and just quest and do pvp.
Also, is it really worth paying a constant sum for this game? I'm not trying to mock anyone, I'm just curious why people think it's worth it.
$14.99 is no big deal. It's entertainment. Much less money than paying for cable TV/satellite.
-
Leveling to 70 can be done at your own pace.
However, once you hit 70 and need to start raiding, you're going to have to dedicate 4-5 hours at a time to raiding, as most serious guilds raid for about 4-5 hours straight, with a few breaks between bosses and the like. And they usually do this 4+ times a week. Often more.
-
Just join a more laid back guild that moves slow, but still raids. If you want to move forward and reach the higher end instances though, you will have to dedicate large portions of time towards it.

Yeah, this is accurate too. There actually are slower guilds that'll raid things like Karazhan, but only do it once a week or so.
But yes, if you ever want to move anywhere beyond that, be prepared to cancel any dinner dates.
-
I might quit again. I don't like raiding and Being lvl 70 is all about Raiding.
-
Nah, you could just Arena or PVP at 70. You still get some awesome gear from that.
-
Arena Gear is basically Tier 4.5, in terms of stats. Can't really compare PVP abilities with raiding gear abilities, though.
-
Arena gear got nerfed pretty hard. Rather than making KZ/Tier 4 drops better, they made Arena rewards worse. It's pretty hilarious in that "what the fuck are you thinking" kinda way.
-
I just have a question, what is this game? I really have no info on it, but people I know say its really gay… Is it like a multi-player RPG?
