Just got back from it. Loved it. Prime rocked hard.
"Freedom is the right of all sentient beings." classic.
Big applause at the end which surprised me (in a good way :))
I must see this again. And again, and again, and again.
Transformers Movie
-
-
Just saw it. Absolutely loved it. Best movie I've seen so far this year. And it was sooo funny. I think I enjoyed the humor in the film more than I did seeing the Transformers fight.
Only complaint I have is that there was way too much camera shaking going on at the end. I hated that. Hard to see wtf is happening sometimes.
-
In the sequel, Starscream MUST attempt to be leader of the Decepticons in Megatron's absence. :P
-
takes a few deep breaths
Transformers is just a bit FREAKING AWESOME TIMES A BILLION!!!!! I'll have to admit, I was a bit skeptical of the movie when I first heard about it, but all of that skepticism is gone. This is, without a doubt, the movie of the summer (possibly year too) for me.
Now while extremely awesome on so many levels, there were still a few things that seemed… a bit disappointing. For instance, I thought Starscream should've had some more airtime (Ah ha ha ha.....). Despite those things though, I thought the movie was just..... awesome. Loved the homage towards fans of the previous series/movies. Amazing CGI, hilarious, action-packed, giant robots battling each other, etc….. I think I'm going to have to see it again soon.
As a side note, that "Cloverfield" trailer that played before Transformers looks sweet.
-
me wants, so bad D:
my friends invited me to watch the premiere, and then again on the weekend, but i had to turn it down because i had to work.. ON SATURDAY.
GODS. Dx
-
I **FINALLY went and saw it, couldn't see it on the 2nd, working. Third, was too busy playing Guitar Hero 2 to go, 4th, working.
I have this to say: Bumblebee owns face. I also definitely want to get bumblebee air freshener that says "BEE OTCH". I prefer the older Camero to the new one though.
And that Mountain Dew machine that transformed because of the All Spark was shooting cans at people. I laughed so hard.**
-
Saw the movie the other day. This is PRETTY much the 2nd best movie I've seen this year (the best movie was 300- DVD NEXT MONTH!).
First off I want to apologize to Megan Fox, I actually hated her when I saw the trailer, but she delivered an EXCELLENT performance!
Shia was as great as ever, gotta love his line "I'M CHASED BY SATAN'S CAMERO!" or was it "SATAN'S CAMERO IS CHASING ME!" Either way he was awesome in this movie.
Josh Duhmal's character (Cpt. Lennox) was my fav. 'human' in the movie, great acting from his side too.
I personally wish the other Decepticons had more screen time rather than gathering together at the very end, but their battle with the Autobots was kickass, specially Bone Cursher vs. Prime, them heat blades are DEADLY!
Stuff I hated in the movie included-
The stereo-typical arabs, tho the kid speaking good english saved him at least
Megs' defeat (fucking lame IMO)
Bumble Bee, err….liquidating over that Sector 7 person
Starscream not having too much 'talk' or 'air-time' was a bit sad, but his ass-kicking, specially when taking out the other fighter planes made him one of the most badass Decepticons in the movie. Not to mention when Ratchet/Ironhide shouted "IT'S STARSCREAM!!!"
Speaking of which Ironhide should've had a Texan accent like in the classics, it fit him A LOT.
Hmmm those would be my gripes off the top of my head.
Overall this movie gets between 4.5/5 to 5/5, but I'd give a 'complete' score should I watch it a few more times or something.BTW-
! > Sequels
On May 30, 2007, Dreamworks greenlit two sequels to Transformers, and Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox and Peter Cullen signed on to return. Producer Tom DeSanto has envisioned a storyline introducing the Dinobots, the Constructicons, and Soundwave. Writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman may not return, as "Star Trek… is taking up kind of all of our time." Michael Bay has not signed on, "trying to keep some leverage for the negotiations", but already has ideas, including an aircraft carrier character.
! From Wikipedia -
In the sequel, Starscream MUST attempt to be leader of the Decepticons in Megatron's absence. :P
Anything less would be uncivilized.
-
Of course he will, with Soundwave claiming
"Starscream. Inferior. Soundwave. Superior." -
Hehe, I can recite that entire scene from memory.
"Well, now that Megatron has, how shall we say, "departed", I nominate myself as the new leader!
"Wait, the constructicons form Devestator! The most powerful robot! We should rule!"
"Soundwave superior, constructicons inferior."
"Who are you calling inferior? No one would follow an uncharismatic bore like you!"
"Hey, nobody calls Soundwave uncruzimatic!" -
Coronation was hilarious, especially when Galvatron showed up.
"HERE'S A HINT!" -
You know, I read that Starscream was in the background backstabbing Megatron. Why wasn't he in the last battle more? Well because when the other F-22's showed up to shoot Megatron, guess who else targeted him? STARSCREAM. If this is true, it would be so awesome. So even though he wasn't in long, Starscream…
1.Freed Megatron.
2.Put Ironhide and Ratchet out of commission in a few seconds.
3.Helped kill Megatron by shooting him with the other F-22's.
&
4.Escaped Earth undetected. -
The stereo-typical arabs, tho the kid speaking good english saved him at least
what exactly was stereotypical?
I liked it. It was action-y. :)
-
Heh, remember that REALLY bad, stereotypical arab guy that used to be in the old cartoon? What was his name, Abdul Fakkadi or something…
Coronation was hilarious, especially when Galvatron showed up.
"HERE'S A HINT!"But then it was really sad that Starscream DIED, he was my favorite Decepticon D: But then he got to come back as a ghost and got to haunt pretty much everyone, even Beast Wars XD
-
He must say in the sequel, "Megatron LIVES!"
-
But what about Soundwave? Poor Soundwave…
LMAO
-
The only one I want to comeback is Jazz
-
I hope they put Unicron in the next movie.
-
-
Yeah, Unicron should be saved for the final Transformers movie.
-
ZOMG! Unicron is in the last movie. Here is a picture of him!
So awesome!
Oh this is worth a look: http://sarahmeyers.wordpress.com/2007/07/05/optimus-prime-refused-service-at-mcdonalds/
She should have went to Burger King.
-
Actually, Unicron should be in the next movie where he hires Starscream to destroy the Autobot Matrix of Leadership. The final film should feature the Quintassons and they should revive Megatron and reformat him into Galvatron.
-
That's dumb. Introducing Unicron in the second would only overshadow Starscream. I think the second movie should be about the Autobots adjusting to Earth, while new ones arrive. Starscream recruits some Cons and heads back to Earth and attacks. Megatron would then be revived later in the movie, with another huge fight.
-
That sounds like a plan Dragon Warrior….You should work for those DreamWorks People.
BTW, I loved the movie to pieces. =D

I hate to break it to you, but the movies aren't supposed to be remakes of the old cartoon episodes.

Is your name "Dragon Warrior"?
I realized that before you posted. You could have looked at the board first before sending.

I saw the Transformers movie and it was awesome!,It had great humor and action
! Too bad that Jazz died ;-;

I just love seeing my favorite robots get character development.
-
I just gotten back from the movie, all I can say the movie was fuckin insane. Even through Starscream wasn't in the movie much his moments in the movie was bad ass. I hope in the seconed movie they bring in Tidal Wave, and Soundwave.
-

Heh. I really found it odd how Jess Harnell said this line, but this matches perfectly.
I hope for Shockwave, Soundwave, Laserbeak, Grimlock, Prowl, and Wheeljack in the sequel.
And Megs.

That was good. But, how did you film the movie without getting arrested?
-
…I didnt film it. Its YTMND. And its pretty easy to film it if you hide a camcorder well enough, or you are pals with the guy who plays the film.
Coincidentally some guy in NY got arrested for pirating TF.
-
It definatly wasn't worth the darn line wait, I mean it's been 4 days already why is there still so much hype? Anyway~ It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, I liked it considering I'm not firmilar with the series and I never really liked it. The CG animation was great though the transformtions from vehicle to robot took a little longer than I had hoped and they didn't use the usual transformation sound I used to hear in the cartoon the few times I watched it… Well it was pretty funny definatly some good writing and I liked the personality given to the Autobots. Next Megatron/Galvatrons design was awful, he was like a bunch of jumbled up metal and Optimus was missing the whole yellow eyes and mouth visor thing... The action was too fast, there were a few times were I could not keep up with what they were doing it hurt my eyes and I nearly got a headache from all the gun fire.....

A friend forced me to see it with him.
Incomphrensible. And just how does the whatchamacallit turn electronics into transformers? o.O
-
The Allspark makes mechanical life. Or were you not paying attention at the very beginning of the movie.
Also even without that explanation , they also said all modern technology came from the frozen Megatron, which also leads credence to why the Allspark would affect them that way.
-

And just how does a fruit turn a human body into rubber?
Anyone play the game? I'm VERY tempted to buy it, so any input would be much appreciated.
-
I never saw the cartoon (was never interested in robots and it looked really stupid in the the first place).
But I wanted some bonding time with my brother and he was dying to go see it.
I liked it a lot. Loved it actually. I wished I could have seen the cartoon now.
-
@Natty:
I liked it a lot. Loved it actually. I wished I could have seen the cartoon now.
I don't think you'd get much out of it now. XD It's a bit cheesy but there's still some really good episodes. I've been a geek for the whole mythos for the majority of my life.
-
Really? Would it be a waste to watch it?
I wouldnt mind buying the boxsets. Aren't most cartoon boxsets like $25 bucks? I mean if it is that cheap, buying it and watching it woulndt be such a bad idea.
Then again….I dont really like robots -even in anime.
-
You could always watch some of the episodes at TV Links, see if you actually like the cartoon before you go and buy it.
-
I don't know, I think at this point you have to have the nostalgia for those old 80's cartoons. They hold up a lot better than a lot of other 80's cartoons but they're still cheesy. The trouble with the show is that it was being produced entirely to sell toys. So it's like, ok, new toys coming out, let's write them into the show. XD And Toei animated it, and you know how Toei gets with their animation at times. Sometimes great, sometimes poop. But what I always loved was Optimus Prime and his eternal rivalry with Megatron, Starscream always trying to backstab and usurp Megatron and subsequent whining and groveling when it didn't work out. And Bumblebee was always my favorite character :3
They're not really like typical robots - they're an alien race that happens to be metallic machine based rather than flesh…it's not like it's a unique idea but there aren't too many stories out there in which the machine race is very human and charismatic and isn't some kind of dark apocalyptic type of story (I hate those).
-
Did Transformers orginate in America or Japan?
-
-
Or were you not paying attention at the very beginning of the movie.
Partially.
Also even without that explanation , they also said all modern technology came from the frozen Megatron, which also leads credence to why the Allspark would affect them that way.
So modern technology came from Megatron…. and not the Allspark. Okay, so why is it the allspark that affects all mechanical things? I'm further confused.
And what was the point with the glasses if all the kid had to do was ask Sector 7 to take him to it? And how did the Transformers end up near that Arabian palace or whatever it was then end up back in American streets so quickly? And why did that robot attack the military base in the beginning? And what happened to that bot in the sand? And if the allspark gave life, why did it kill Megatron. Also, the action sequences were confusing. I had no idea who was who when the bots fought because they moved so fast.
-
@Pass:
So modern technology came from Megatron…. and not the Allspark.
Yeah, the Sector 7 dude said that all technology as we know it was reverse engineered from Megatron.
Okay, so why is it the allspark that affects all mechanical things? I'm further confused.
Probably because of the fact that all technology is based on Megatron, down to their base elements I'm guessing.
And what was the point with the glasses if all the kid had to do was ask Sector 7 to take him to it?
Sector 7 would have never taken them to the AllSpark, especially when Sector 7 wasn't even known of until later in the movie. Plus, it was the Autobots who wanted the information about the location of the AllSpark that was encoded onto those glasses, and the Autobots sure as hell weren't just gonna go up to the Sector 7 guys and say, "Hey, do you know where we can find a giant cube of power?" Yeah, that'd go well…
And how did the Transformers end up near that Arabian palace or whatever it was then end up back in American streets so quickly?
Huh? I remember not what you're talking about. You may be confusing a part of the Hoover Dam for something else, because that's where they were.
And why did that robot attack the military base in the beginning?
Blackout was there to gather information on Megatron, and most likely the glasses he inscribed the location of the AllSpark on. It's just that he had to retreat before he gathered the necessary information. Frenzy succeeded later on where Blackout failed.
And what happened to that bot in the sand?
Scorponok? Weren't you paying attention? The marine dudes killed it with some pretty bitchin' tactics. After that they took it into custody and performed experiments on it.
And if the allspark gave life, why did it kill Megatron?
A cube that was that massive, and abounding with energy, it most likely overloaded Megatron's circuits.
Also, the action sequences were confusing. I had no idea who was who when the bots fought because they moved so fast.
That was all Michael Bay's direction, it got way to artsy at times. It's not that they moved too fast, it's that Michael shook the camera around way too much.
-
Scorpinock didn't die. He escaped into the sand. What they captured was a broken off piece of his tail, that started regenerating itself.
Anyway people, this is how the sequal should begin.
Somehow somehow Megatrons dead body regenerates by sapping energy from Unicron. (somehow he ends up there…)
And this is how the 3rd movie should end.
A transformers trilogy. Unicron is the best storyline to persue.
-
OK here's something I didn't get about Megs defeat-
! When Prime explained about their last chance being destroyed the Cube, he said that it would be thrust or put into his Spark or something.
When Sam striked Megs with the Cube….it didn't hit his Spark and he was defeated. In fact it looked more like Sam was trying to ram the Cube at Megs.
WTF? -
Sam caused Megatrons spark to absorb the Allspark causing his own spark to overload. Megatrons spark was in his chest, so that's what happened.
Also, Pass the Rootbeer, were you asleep during the movie?
