if there's one thing the artist does incredibly well, it's epic skills / abilities. Every single one looks so detailed.
Kanchome getting this strong really was needed though. Even if it came out of nowhere.
yeah, I agree. Kanchome is one of the characters who deserved a huge power boost (Umagon was another, but his is coming up soon).
My only concern is that this will lead to more melodrama, with Kanchome possibly turning on Gash and the others. But since he'd need Folgore to fight, and Folgore most likely wouldn't be up for it, I'm not sure how it'd work out.
Something tells me in my head that Canchome was probably waiting to get this powerup only until now, mostly so Raiku could keep portraying him as a weakling with a good heart. His spell abilities have slowly awakened with each one becoming more powerful than the last…and these three new ones are perhaps the culmination that "a weakling held one of the most powerful spells in the tournament!" I think what happens next is up to Folgore: if he can't control what his Mamono has become, he may be forced to send him back to save him...but I don't really think that's what's going to happen.

Well, Folgore and Kanchome pretty much have a big bond in friendship. So I agree with Aataru, if it does come down to such a point, Folgore would probably rather send him back to the Makai, for the sake of Kanchome not loosing sight of his true character and personality than being some merciless beast he might become that'll turn against Gash and the others. But yeah, it'll all determine on how he uses his strong bond on kanchome, he either agrees with his actions or to save him as a close friend, send him back to the Makai.

Kanchome's powerup is awesome!
Anyone wants to read all volumes until chapter 300? I can give it.

300 is not coming out until Tuesday the earliest.
However I can give you all volumes until latest chapter if you want.

Thing is I already own everything up to the Heart Demon fight with Karudeio/Earth…in book format, not scanslation. (almost got more recently but didn't really do so to save money)

Yes, would like that very much.
Speaking of raws, I just got ahold of a volume or two. Kiees (and whatever that other mamono's name was) vs. Kanchome and Gash was awesome.
Hell, Kiees is awesome period.

The other one (which used all the axes) was Buzarai. And yeah, that was a great Canchome moment. (at least prior to this current fight with Goomu…heck, nearly all of Canchome's fight from the beginning are classic)
Could someone tell me what chapter starts from where Zofis and Koko got defeated…i want to start reading from there since people say that the anime's path changes from the manga
Chp. 162 is the final Lord chapter, where Reila goes back and the true Sheri/Coco reunion takes place in France. The Brago/Zophis fight is the chapters before then and the chapter after is a "school chapter" that starts the countdown to the Faudo arc.

New chapter out:
! And we finally get an origin for "Tetsu no Folgore"! (and a tearjerker one at that)…and there really isn't too much a change outside Canchome turning back to normal. But still, I admire Folgore for all he did this chapter.
so everyone here knows japanese?
!
that chapter was like GAR defined
I have to admit, Folgore's speech about "hippo-san" near the end almost made me tear up.
He got like a million points now in my book. Probably bringing him up to my third favorite book keeper overall (behind Bern and Gustav).

I haven't been keeping up with the manga lately but is that Kanchome's new transformation?
Basically,
! Kyanchome got a few new super powerful spells from training with Dufaux (Zeon's old book keeper), one of which is Shin Poruku. Shin Poruku is pretty much a gigantic illusion, and Kyanchome can control every detail within the spell's range. He used it to become a gigantic monster, raping and scaring the fuck out of Mir and Goomu (two enemy book keepers).
! edit: here's a translation snippet from the last chapter to help explain it better:
! Dufaux: Onto the last spell, Sin Poruku. It can be said as an accumulation of all the previous spells; the most powerful spell.
Dufaux: Kanchome will be able to change his body to any object, and also change the surrounding scenery to any kind of illusionary scenery.
! Kanchome: I can change the scenery? If so, then about the mamono Kiyomaru said can teleport,
Kanchome: when he's about to move through the portal, I can make a fake portal, and when he passes through the fake portal, I change the scenery to another scenery, making him think he'd teleport.
! Dufaux: That's correct, because this illusion can really change the surrounding scenery, it's different from hypnosis and cannot be dispelled just because the enemy wills his mind to.
Dufaux: And after transformation, [your] body will possess powers based on [your] imagination. Like producing flaming fists that can severely burn the enemy, or even producing tentacle heads that can eat away the enemy's spell. The reason behind this is….
Kanchome: Because after transformation, my body and voice will give the enemy's brain that order.
! Dufaux: Indeed. Even if the eyes are shut, and the ears plugged, as long as the transformed body comes into contact with the enemy, that command will still be transferred to the enemy's brain.
! Dufaux: To match the wounds inflicted, produce illusions of, for example, clothes being torn off. That would basically make reality and illusions indistinguishable.
Kanchome: Amazing…. that's totally invincible.
Dufaux: Yes, in the mamono battle, this is just about the most powerful spell ever..
Wow, I have to hand it to Folgore, he almost made me jerk a tear in this chapter as well and it was nice seeing his true back story of his old self~
I haven't been keeping up with the manga lately but is that Kanchome's new transformation?
No, that's pretty much a buffed up Folgore lifting up Kyanchome's transformed arm up.
Folgore is the freakin' man! I really can't wait to see what happens though I'm hoping it'll have to do with sending Papupilio back because it's not like he's going to have an important role in anything. He's just fodder at this point.

Papipulio probably is fodder, but for some reason I would like him to get some really awesome spell before he goes back. Mostly something for Goomu or Clear to remember him by as he fades away.
Oh, and again it has to be said: Tetsu no Folgore, Muteki Folgore!
I don't want to see Papipurio go back yet. I've grown to really like him and Rooper.

We all know Papipulio's good at spit sludge/gas type spells so if it does come to that, I'm pretty sure Raiku ought to come up with something original with his spell motif.
I already think some of his spells are pretty unique. I mean come on, he spit out an IRON NET, as well as itchy powder. Genius.
@Cap'n:

Now one of the many things he needs to do is spit out some swords or blades in his spells, skin-burning acid, more poisonous gases that can do worse to the body, oh the possibilities, I cant list them all in this post.
To be honest I would have rather Earth be around more than Papupilio. I mean at least Earth has done something constructive. What constructive things has Papupilio done? I'd say even Momon personality wise has done a lot more than Papupilio's cowardice attitude.
Aethos cries IRL with every new panel that Papipurio is featured in.
What constructive things has Papupilio done?
Helped Ted get in to Faudo, which in turn saved Cherish from Zeon's "control".
Teamed up with Cherish later on to help distract Zeon after Gash lost.
Saved Rodeaux's life when his attack on Zeon turned against him.

Don't really remember Papi fighting directly against Zeon, particularly with Cherish. Mostly I remember him assisting Rodeaux during his betrayl.
Personally while Papi isn't one of my favorite Mamono, I think its funny that someone so "useless" in the battle has lasted to the final 8. Not to mention Roopa's plan (build a shelter, hide until every other Mamono goes away) wasn't too bad for a cowardly way to win the tournament and avoid Clear's "wipeout of all Mamono" plan.
He doesn't fight directly against Zeon, but he helps her distract Zeon at the beginning of their fight with his smoke spell.
I don't really hate Papupilio. I just hate that he's there because Raiku couldn't think of a good way of getting rid of him. Which I beieve he said and that's why Papupilio is even there at all. Personally if Papupilio does more than just stand back and let everyone else do all the work (despite at this point it seems like Papupilio is just there considering this fight seems more like it's between the main five good guys and Clear as well as Goomu) then that's all well and good and I'll be very impressed with Papupilio's performance for sure.
I admit Papupilio did have some good development in the faudo arc but he's never been a key character the way Earth, Ted, Wonrei, Momon, Bari, Reira, or heck any of Zophise and Zeon's minions has. So maybe this is Papupilio's time to shine. I'll put faith in Raiku since he's done great so far. Heck it seemed we were definately going somewhere when we saw Rooper's little flashback.
Slight shocker in this week's chapter:
! Canchome and Papipulio went back. The chapter started off alright: Canchome using his Shin power to make a peaceful placid scene…made me think Goomu might get a "Soylent Green"-esque sendback. But then that stupid baby Vino appears, yells out a spell that Clear fires from his "resting place"..and Folgore throws his and Roopa's books to stop the blast! It really sucks to see the little duck-billed go...but at least Goomu gets a bit more incentive to finally turn on Clear later.
JUST WHAT THE HELL?!!
VINO?!! I HATE THAT BABY!!
I HOPE BAOU'S CLEANS HIS FANGS WITH HIS LITTLE CHEAP IMITATION OF A MICKEY MOUSE CAP! >_<
No, really, it's sad Kanchome went away when he had just become stronger, but it's obvious that:
A) Gash would have won if Kiyomaro had used his AT ability. :P
Anyways, I wonder if the Dragon Mamono will sacrifice himself to replace Baou's Place, creating an even more powerful spell..
Really, that all mighty Dragon kid and Baou must be related…

Which one, Ashuron? He already went back.
Personally I wish Canchome could have been used in the final battle, but who knows how insane he could have gotten with the power and insanity within Clear's mind after what he pulled on Goomu.
Meanwhile, the Mamono who could stop Gash from being a "dynasty" is now down to three…not counting Goomu and the nutjob. (OK, I think Gash would be a great king but it just feels wrong with his already royal heritage...even with his crappy childhood)

KANCHOME!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Remaining competitors
Kiyomaro/Gash
Megumi/Tio
Sunbeam/Umagon
Sherry/Burago
Mir/Goomu
Vino/Clear Note
Kanchome lost! he was my most favorite ;-;
I feel depressed. T_T
And Ashuron's still in the game, or at least that's what I think.
He's like, regenerating his limbs..
Awww, that just sucks  ~! Kanchome was one of my most favorites and papulio still had some potential to show to us, oh well.
But one thing that interests me~
! In the end of the chapter, Gomu is just sitting there, looking at the drawing Kyanchome made before he was sent back. So it's possible Gumo and Mir could go to the good side.

His book started to burn before he threw that final attack against Clear. Ashuron's gone, Clear survived.

Yeah. I think Kanchome was like the only mamono who was good with Gomu, even tough he beat him up at the beginning, so yeah, Gomu's abilities could aid Baou Zakeruga in the final battle (Note how I refer to Baou), perhaps creating a combo where Baou goes past Clear's spells, or even captures it, on an unlimited maze of warp holes, but who knows, all it's up to Raiku, but right now, with Clear's satelite like powers, it would be pointless for him to rely again on Gomu's powers, so the Giant Bettle is pretty much useless for the "bad side".
Man, it makes perfect sense storywise for Kanchome to go (since he became too powerful for the story to handle), but… this still sucks.
As for Papipurio, I was really hoping he'd get a much less half-assed send-off. I didn't even know he was gone until the last panel with Rooper.
I did really like the scenes with Goomu, and the last page.
I need to catch up to this series, as up 'til now I've basically been keeping up with it through this thread. Kanchome going back really, really sucks, he's always been one of my favorites.

Sort of wanted Papi to go back with a blaze of glory, but he served his purpose and Raiku really didn't know why he was still here either.
(lowers his head and shakes it due to Canchome going back)
