@fixius:
and people who always whine while being offopic should be banned also
anyway
it doesn't matter if shanks is stated to have lost to mihawk or not,if shanks didn't lose to mihawk in a way it shows mihawk is a better swordsman,mihawk wouldn't be the best
FFA you are making a huge mistake cuz you think the title is like a WWE title,it isn't a title,it was a little box saying mihawk is the strongest swordsman,mihawk wears nothing in his waist and we just don't need any facts to assume the obvious
i will say this,if shanks didn't lose to mihawk that means he was scared and accepted mihawk was stronger,does that suit shanks better??? why can't you accept that defeat has it's pride also???? is power all that matters??? mihawk is a walking power obstacle full of pride and honour but shanks is obviously more to the OP world
saying shanks=mihawk degrades shanks and doesn't let you enjoy the manga,shanks is one of the strongest swordsman and characters,he is a yonkou,he is the inspiration of the main character of the best manga ever
on the other hand mihawk is a walking dream,a measure of absolute power in swordsmanship and the absolute goal of zoro,by saying shanks=mihawk you degrade both characters
i think people shouldn't let their fanboyism spoil the manga,accept shanks is weaker than mihawk since it is what oda wants to show,don't start to make imaginary scenarios to fulfill your ego,accept the obvious and wait for confirmation from oda if it will ever happen,if it doesn't who cares???? will that make one piece worst????
i am a zoro-mihawk fan,if BB is stronger than mihawk i would be dissapointed but that doesn't mean i will get furious or start bashing oda,i will accept it and it will make BB better in my eyes,i wil not start making scenarios about how mihawk is considered weaker but in fact he isn't
only shanks vs BB is unknown to us but shanks vs mihawk isn't
You're right, bro, I didn't intend to degrade them. What I meant by them being equal is that they're equally important to the manga. Mihawk is made to purely be a swordsman. He is a better swordsman. That much is evident. But Shanks is made to be a leader first and a swordsman second. That, from my point of view, puts him a step above Mihawk.
Mihawk is very strong, but to be honest, we haven't seen him do anything that any of the other strong characters of One Piece can't do. Blow up giant ships? Ace, Luffy, and others did that. Cut people up? Too many people to count have done that. Dodge bullets? Sanji did that.
Shanks has a flawless team of high-class individuals. Lucky Roo is apparently very fast moving for his size (Most of that is a rumor, but there is evidence in the first chapter of the manga), Beckman is the smartest man on the Grand Line (i.e. world), Yasopp is the best gunner we've seen so far in One Piece, and who knows what Rockstar can do? Plus, his mere aura can cause most pirates to faint.
Mihawk is the world's greatest swordsman and an inspiration for Zoro, but Shanks is a world class captain and an inspiration for Luffy, our hero. They're still equally important to One Piece.
Therefore, Mihawk = Shanks.
Now, on topic:
The Shichibukai seemed more situated in the first half of the Grand Line, whereas the Yonkou maintain control over the second half of the Grand Line. The MHQ seems to be spread amongst both halves. That's what they could mean by balance in the powers.
