I always have to laugh at the ubiquitous night elf hunter always trying to single handedly attack a smaller horde outpost.
@Gorlom:
i didnt grasp the "finer parts of beeing a rogue" (ha like there are any) but mostly i just died though =P hated playing that class)
What level/spec was the rogue? I find it hard to be killed right now because if I'm in trouble I have the option of first evade to avoid taking hits, vanish if there's no way out, sprinting away if I have dot on me, or blinding everyone with flash powder. Or just drinking a healing potion. I get frustrated going back to the warrior sometimes because if I'm in trouble there isn't much I can do except try to hamstring as many as possible and warstomp or intimidating shout, which doesn't always work.
Everyone will tell you something different, but for leveling in pve, it's better to spec a rogue combat. It gives you a lot more survivability when you deal with multiple targets. If you're doing pvp, you can spec mostly asassination/subtlety for quick bursts of damage. And poisons are a must no matter what. I put one kind of poison on the dagger and another on the sword. If you're dealing with a lot of casters, use mind-numbing poison and you considerably delay the amount of time it takes them to cast spells.
I find the best method is to stealth-cheap shot-backstab-sinister strike until you rack up all 5 combo points, riposte when active (disarms), and kidney shot (stuns) and eviscerate is a good finisher.
One thing I'm looking for is a way to get a macro to instantly swap my weapons. It would make combat more efficient.
class balance waver to and forth in different lvl brackets.
I think looking at a bunch of experienced level 70's reveals a lot more than most people still leveling.
