Level 60/70…it takes me forever to level in MMO's, I probably wont even be close to that come May 1st.
World of Warcraft (+Burning Crusade)
-
-
Pick a warrior. focus on Defensive stance for defense, you'll take the most damage, berserker stance does damage. If you get into and do a good job holding aggro and not dieing, you might be able to become a Main Tank on raids if you reach 60/70.
You have to get your defensive and beserker stance as a quest. I still haven't got my beserker stance, I failed the affray quest last time I tried, but I'm a couple of levels higher and I have a much better weapon now so I'll try it again tomorrow.
You also have to go to warrior trainers to learn new skills, and you gain a talent point after each time you level, you might want to consider what kind of warrior you want to be, and how many points you want to put into arms, defense, or fury. I'm mostly solo so I don't put so many points into defense. If I make an Alliance alt I might go over there, it would be cool to get all the AP players in one place.
-
haha the warrior class has been getting gimped since day one of the games release…don't be surprised if you get your butt kicked left and right by some people and/or creatures. I stopped even trying a warrior at level 12, just wasn't worth the time.
-
I've done just fine as a warrior, the only downsides is that you can't heal yourself, and long-range fighting sucks. You are dependant on getting good training and finding good gear.
-
f you do PvP for raids and can tank and hold aggro good then Guilds will love you to come along as a Main Tank or something.
I think the guys at KF started a One Piece guild on the Arthas server, but I haven't heard from them or their post since then, and I still have a Rogue named Lucci on that server.
Anyways would be neat to have all the KF people on my server, but I'm Alliance so if anyone;s horde they'll have to switch. The Horde lands are just….plain. No trees, just dirt and rocks, and quest givers, and the occasional salesman and NPC. And yet they outnumber people on most servers.
EDIT: Also Buuhan, nice avatar, did you make it yourself?

Uh, no. You haven't been to many Horde lands have you? Only the Barrens and Durotar is like that, but a lot of Horde territory is nice. Plus you go visit a lot of other areas after a while anyway. And Alliance numbers far exceed Horde. Blood Elves were made Horde in an attempt to get more people to go Horde.
-
EDIT: Also Buuhan, nice avatar, did you make it yourself?
I wish. I'm amazed with how many people think I did it…wonder why they think it was me.
-
Becuase the last chapter is only a week old, I've never seen that piece of fan art before and your last avatar was similar, only it was a clip from the Manga.
Just thought since you were the one with a similar one last week it was you who made an "improved" one involving brooke actually looking.
Anyways I played Warcraft 3, THere are a ton less trees than in WC 3. Besides Undead lands, it's mostly barren. There are a few spots, but even Thousand Needles is just rock formations and some elevators. Mulgore is supposed to be grassy plains, so only a few trees should be expected. But compared to ALliance Lands(Humans have alot of trees) and considering that the area the Undead are at was once Lorderon, another human kingdom until Prince Arthas killed his father, it only makes sense. Kalimdor is almost completely barren, with the exception of the Alliance placed, which have lots of trees and such(they arer night elves) and even the Draenei lands have only a medium amount of trees.
-
Yeah, Thousand Neeldes is a desert. Mulgore is very green, not all that plain. Everywhere around Undercity is also foresty, and the Silverpine Forest. The rest of the place is contested, I have been spending time in places like Hillsbrad, Ashenvale, Arathi Highlands, etc..
Buu's avatar is from Japanese fanart btw
-
Just thought since you were the one with a similar one last week it was you who made an "improved" one involving brooke actually looking./QUOTE]
But he is looking at Robin, not Nami. XD
But seriously, I wish I was that good, I can only wish one day I will be.
I wonder if Paroh is still having problems.
-
Well jsut so you know, Undead lands use dto be human lands(lorderon) but Arthas joined the scourge, killed his dad(the king) and eventually was forced to flee the kingdom when Sylvanas got her own control back from the Lich King. So since she has A: Her body back, and B: her own free will, as well as some others who escaped the lich king's control, formed their own group of ndead and took over Lorderon.
So it's still Human lands, the Undead are jsut occupying it. All the other lands are still barren, except possible Silvermoon(haven't made a BE yet) and still, they were announced first so they had more time to polish their lands.
-
Yes I know the backstory, but that's a moot point. You said Horde lands, not lands originally owned by humans. In WoW, it's Horde territory. And only 1/5 of the Alliance is human anyway. Aaaand none of this really matters in the grand scheme of things because both sides travel everywhere except for in the cities and encampments of the opposite faction. I'm not sure what the point of this discussion is. :/
-
People travel everyone, lol. I remember taking down two of the FOUR horde City Leaders on raids, fun stuff. Or camping the bank in Org with 30 spell casters, lol, its insane.
edit: sorry forgot about the troll leader
-
I made 34.
I'm so happy.
Also got in a good guild. f any of you happen to drop by Khaz Modan on Alliance look me up and if you decide to make it your home I'll see what I can do.
BTW Arathi Highlands SUCKS!!! Hardly any quests, occasional creature, hostile patrols, and most quest mobs are higher than the zones level, noone talks in general, etc….
So I went to STV and it's working out alot better, plenty of quests.
-
gratz gearsecond, myself i just made lv 59 soon going to be getting my first lv 60 char =D
So I went to STV and it's working out alot better, plenty of quests.
you mean there actualy is someone who enjoys stranglegank the home of the worst ganking pricks WoW ever spawned:shocked:
id take Arathi anyday over a place where you cant take two steps without getting a vl 60 ganker on your ass.
also in my personal experience pretty much no one ever talks in the general chats at all, well prehaps to insult each other or call someone a scammer or a n00b but thats it
WoWs such a friendly game^^
-
Actually I've never been killed in PvP in STV.
Actually some people and I were talking about blockading the horde places. Because someone was saying "Hey there's an undead in the hunter mastery quest area help!" and people were talking about it being contested. So in the end we(actually me) were thinking about basically blockading the zeppelins and the quest areas so Horde didn't stand much of a chance.
-
strange maybe its just a Horde thing, cause i remember when i was about lv 40-48 we couldnt step a foot outside the camp in that place without getting a lv 60 in full epic who wants to gank us for no particular reasons other than that hes a douche after us, and dont think you can outrun him cause he`ll chase you down to booty bay if he has to cause hes just that devoted to hasseling people trying to quest:getlost:.
how do you mean blockading ? and also our zepps are in the base id doubt you could take over that place
-
Dude, Grom Gol is jsut like Menethil, guards and some quest giers and a port of sorts leading somewhere else, but when it comes down to it a few high levels in good gear can basically each take a side and Solo guards.
Guards arn't anything more than mods set to stay in a place or patrol and to protect people from other people. Now that people are 70's, guards aren't worth much effort anymore. Only point of killing them is getting them out of the way so you take less damage. It's easy enough to create a wall to restrict access and keep the guards down, they'll respawn one by one and jsut die again.
-
yeah but its not just guards them by themselves are as you say useless but now its not just guards its them plus the massive amount of players(usualy is about 30-40 guys in there)many of those which are lv 60 or higher heading over to ZG or just helping their lower lvled pals and if there were none there cept low levels theyd whine to their guilds and overcomes a pissed of guild of epic 70s to save the day^^,
so id say dream on about blocking anything mate its just a waste of time
-
I'm level 32 now, and I got my berserker stance. I still only get to play for a couple of hours 1 or maybe 2 days each week. :) I usually level each time I play. Some of the quests for Arathi Highlands I picked up in other places. I took a break from there to go back to Thousand Needles. I did a funny quest where I sent a little remote controlled robot into an Alliance city to get a sample of water from their moonwell.
-
I heard about that one. DO you take over the robot or something?
Anyways I've basically been doing STV and once I finish my questing there I'm headed for Hillsbrad for questing there.
If anyone wants to, I found a nice(free) leveling guide(no popups or anything) that actually seems to work. I was sick of the grind so I figured, if it cant ell me any quests I missed that Is hould do and can do them all in a small area, then why not? So I checked it out, and some quests I was slow on so I'm about 1 or 2 levels higher than what is recommends. Anyways I'm gonna go for 35 tomorrow and at least halfway to 36 or possibly even higher.
Anyways it's gonig pretty good but I still want to get to 40 BADLY!!! Portals and Mounts await.
Anyways, here's the guide.
http://www.wow-pro.com/node/600
Check it out, if you're 30 plus and Alliance side it's good. Since things start at 30 you might be able to follow it somewhat but you'll need to grind where there's Alliance Only quests or Alliance specific stuff.
-
I heard about that one. DO you take over the robot or something?
The quest giver hands you some kind of device, and you have to find this control panel that's behind a bush on the Thousand Needles side right before Thalannar begins, and you right click on the device in your bag and it says "channeling", then your point of view is in the little robot, and you control it just like you control your actual character.
And here's a Horde leveling guide http://www.blizzsector.net/class-strategy/19197-horde-leveling-guide.html

I miss WoW. Its was pretty fun. I made it to lv.36 and then I just stopped playing. I'm thinking of getting a copy of Burning Crusade and start over again.
The reason I stopped was because I had terrible lag due to not enough RAM. I couldn't even make it to the entrance to IF without getting so much lag I crashed. It also made me unable to PVP or fight the horde very well.
I miss my black wolf.
-

Yeah, you definately need that RAM. I recommend having at 1GB (minimum requirements is 500mb), and a good video card.
-
I don't have much RAM myself, but my computer seems to be able to handle games well, I've managed to play some games on here which talk about how the requirements are steep and has to have this good ass computer…yet my crappy Dell with 300mb of RAM & no video card just a driver plays it.
I'm not worried, wonder if Paroh is still having trouble tho...
-
You have a video card - it might be built in, but it's there, otherwise you wouldn't have any visuals.
I'd still be a little concerned, WoW is a really graphics heavy game, I've seen what happens to people who don't meet the requirements, they crash and skip around.
-
I lag on games but not to the point of "wtf is going on, where am I?!". I had no problem playing Guild Wars and that is a graphic heavy game, I also have played many many graphic heavy games and only had simple lag.
I think I'll be okay.
-
My computer came with 256mb of RAM. Playing WoW with that is basically impossible. The only time that I didnt receive that much was when I was soloing and there weren't many players around.
I'm building my next computer. :getlost:
-
Lol yes, the trouble is still here, blizzard is lazy as all hell. I'm playing my rogue atm, just got it to 41, leveling slow…been a while since i've leveled anything. On a side note, heh, I owe an old friend some money on my rogue, he just bought my mount for me...so I will have to grind that out until i get it back, lol.
-
I'm probably getting a new version of Windows Xp that has a larger RAM limit.
I noticed in PvP i get really bad lag as soon as the horde come, so my first "skirmish" with them each battle is so laggy, I'll have full health, screne freezes, 5 seconds later I hear the death grunt and 2 more seconds I'm laying on the ground.
Been disconnecting lately.
Also I madeit to 35, I'm jsut gonig to finish off STV and move on to Hillsbrad, but might stop by Arathi.
What level is Alterac BTW?
-
Alterac doesnt have any real outpost, its just a grinding/place other towns send you to. But its around 35+
you wont be done with STV competly till like, lvl 40. Definately goto Southshore/Hillsbrad, always a good lvl or 2 from lvling there.
SM grinding for 32-40 is the best though imo.
-
Ding, finnaly lvl 33, don't know where to go from here though, i am trying to reach lvl 40 in less then a week
right now im in shimmering, which quest should i do, and how much should i grind?
-
MRED what faction are you? if your alliance go to hillsbrad/arathi highlands/alterac mountains
then again, horde quest there to, doesnt really matter, but ya, that part is great for your level…quests may seem hard, and at times, you have orange/red quests, and thats all you have. Then just grind on some mobs +1/2 levels higher then yourself. It's really not that hard.
-
woho i finaly got enought honor to buy that Legionare Robe
didnt take all that long thanks to a 10 game winning streak, for the horde baby
-
FYI under a week MRED isn't going to be easy, it might not even be possible for most people's schedules. Unless you are playing 24 hours a day for a week until you hit 40, then just realize my gola of 1 level a sday has failed so far, but I'm still leveling like made when I can and I hope it'll only take a few extra days. If yu're only 33, then I doubt you'll make it.
Also, at level 35 I have nearly finished STV, one more quest run and I'll be done, I kill colonel Kurzen, some animals, get some tumbled crystals, turn in some quests in Booty Bay and get a few more and everything in STV is complete. But I'm going to do a few quests in Arathi, and I need to go to Dalaran to do a quest there.
I realize Dalaran is in a bubble, can someone tell me where Dalaran quests lead to, since obviously it must be a camp of sorts outside Dalaran.
-
GearSecond you won't be done with STV stil level 42ish, heh. Some quests are in BootyBay and won't be available til 38/39…so ya, the place is big, and there are really good pirate quests to the south. Heh, tanaris is a good place to go once you get done with STV.
-
I love pirates but it just isn't practical at my level to try getting exalted with both Booty Bay and the Bloodsail Buccaneers. I would if I could. I kinda want to.
-
I guess Pharoh never had any luck, I still got WoW downloaded.
-
What was he trying to do again?
-
I think set up some sort of parental controls so his account would be safe.
-
Alright, so me and a friend bought World of Wacraft + The Burning Crusade expansion from another friend, but I'm in a bit of a situation…
Ya see, my dad doesn't know too much about computers or laptops these days. He blames the slightest problems on me and my younger brother for playing online games with it. And most of those problems aren't even from the game at all. Yesterday I started up the laptop, and it took a bit longer than usual (2 minutes max, while it takes about 20 seconds usually). Then when I was done, I turned it off, my dad turned it back on and started to get mad because it was taking "forever" to start up and blamed us for it.
My main message: Is it possible that I could get a virus from WoW+BC? Or can it cause any other problems to the computer that my dad may get upset about?I want to play this game pretty badly, but I don't know if I should install it to the laptop or not.
-
No, you won't get a virus from WoW.
Do you even HAVE a virus? Viruses are detectable. There are free virus scans you can get off the internet if you don't already have one. If you don't want to actually install one, you can even do it from Trendmicro's website http://housecall.trendmicro.com/Viruses aren't usually the cause of slow startup. Spyware can be - I recommend spybot search and destroy. But WoW does NOT give you spyware either.
If you have ran a virus scan and a spyware scan, the next thing to do is see how many programs you have running on startup. Look at the little icons in your system tray at the bottom right. Is there tons of them? You probably don't need most of them. You can probably right-click on them and go to properties or preferences and uncheck "show icon in system tray". Or go to start - run - type msconfig - click "startup" tab and uncheck stuff on startup that isn't important. The only tricky thing is knowing which programs do and don't need to run on startup - but I'll tell you that most don't. And that is one of the biggest causes of computers having a slow startup. -
Wel let's see.
First the person with the virus would need to make it specifically for it to be transferred thorugh the game.
This also means that he need sto be up to date with knowledge of all patches, hack the server, and find some way to target a player.
The servers alone are super secure. There's so many firewalls and such, it's about as impossible as it gets to put a virus in an online game, let alone find a player's IP address and send it thorugh hte proper ports and around your security.
So in short: Your dad is an idiot, if there's any viruses it's not from the game. Could just be an old computer?
-
Yeah, that's what I think. I KNOW the slow start-up isn't from a virus, and I'm pretty sure we don't even have one. He just isn't aware of the difference between regular computer errors and viruses.
…and so about me and a friend sharing the game... now is it possible to do this? I borrow it for a week and he'll borrow it the next and so on, and so if I'm right I'll still have to pay full price (same goes for him), but can we share an account and split that cost or can we have 2 seperate accounts and we both pay our prices?
Sorry if these newbie questions bother you.
-
Technically you're not supposed to do that, it's in the terms of service that one person uses one account…however, as long as you keep quiet about it and just pretend that you're the same person using different characters, and don't cause any trouble, then nobody is going to bother you about it.
-
If you play on different servers, and don't say anything, it should be fine.
Just remember, keep shut up about it, and get things straight, like your firned's character name and class, if anyone ever talks to you don't mention your other character, make one(you or your friend) call themeselves the others alt, ect. Basically make it seem like it's the same person.
Just to warn you, log in at each othner's houses occasionally, or the system might get the idea that the two ips only log onto one character.
-
That's excessive. It's a laptop. They're not going to check that.
In fact, my bf and I do tell people that we're not the same person occasionally. They have to have a reason to want to axe your account. But don't be careless. -
They have an IP tracking system.
If they see a pattern of one IP always logging into one character, and the other onto another, they'll realize there is a pattern.
In that case, if confronted or banned, you'll just simply want to explain something like "I play that character with my boy/girl friend over at their house. I use my main normally"
-
The thing is, with the MILLIONS of players out there, they aren't looking at everyone's IP all the time, they will only do that if someone is causing a problem to make them look into it.
-
I think the same thing. But it's like magic how they find it.
Probably pay some guys to go thorugh and check things out, not to mention they say they have an IP reading program to track things for the account and might notice a pattern.
They can do it if they want to, have a program select possible rule breakers for review.
Oh and I reached level 36.
