Other tough bosses off the top of me head:-
Mizuchi/Orochi from NeoGeo Battle Coliseum
Seph from KH2
Oh and Omega Rugal in KoF 98 & 95
Why are bosses always so fucking stupid?

-
Private Zulen…seriously I'm not trying to backsit mod but, can you please stop doing those massive long empty posts? You make the page long for nothing.
-
Animal Crossing had some incredible boss fights. It took me like a week to beat Devil-mode Nook.
-
@Freeman-12:
Mizuchi/Orochi from NeoGeo Battle Coliseum
You are joking, right? I thought he was really crappy and easy to beat.
-
Igniz from KOF2001. Fight him and you'll want to quit videogames.
-
…yeah, I think that about sums them up. Except for Ocelot.
I've only played MGS3 and I don't know what he's like in the other games, but I wasn't quite able to fear someone who takes ten seconds to reload his gun in plain sight and whines whenever you bring out a useful weapon. (fun fight though)
Oh buddy. I was like you a few months back. I started out with the MGS series with Subsistence (also known as Snake Eater), and I loved it, which convinced me to get MGS2 and The Twin Snakes. And after playing Twin Snakes and Sons of Liberty (MGS2), one thought came to my mind about Ocelot: B.A. He was a total bad*ss. After you realise his whole plan, you just want more. After I finished Sons of Liberty, I just had to play Subsistence again to see how Ocelot became the sick puppy he is. Now I can't wait for MGS4. But then I'd have to come upon a PS3 though…
Back on topic now...
I have to agree that MGS bosses are great. The Psycho Mantis fight was really something. It actually made you think about how to actually take down that MoFo (unless you asked the Colonel about a zillion times, you lazy bum).
And I remember fighting one boss that was just perfect, but I can't remember it right now. How the crap is this possible...
-
Rugal from KOF '94 springs to mind, as does Goenitz from KOF'96. Geese from FF was also a bastard.
Also look into the bosses from the Shin Megami Tensei universe. You'll love them, especially from Nocturne. -
Man MGS on extreme… I had to ration my 2 rations every boss fight, to a maximum usuage of 1.... ESPECIALLY the Helicopter part. First you run up tower 1 and try to lose no hp at all or maybe get hit 1 or 2 times... then try you best not to get hurt too much going down... then fight the helicopter, ambush in elevator, followed by sniper wolf (w/o Nikita) and you find like extra 1 ration during this entire thing... oh man I reloaded so many times to do everything to perfection...
-
Well, the thing about citing the fighting game bosses is kind of skewed, because technically their AI isn't any greater or anything; their stats and attacks are just progammed to be massively brutal. So they aren't really "smarter" or "harder," just very very cheap,
-
indeed
except for in a few notable cases where the final guys are devastating for sure but have the biggest gaping holes ever (ie Soul Calibur 2 and 3, and most later 3D fighters)
-
I don't mind so much predictable attack patterns, and bosses not learning from their mistakes. But a pet peeve of mine is how some games have huge bosses, and yet the kinda just stand around giving you a chance to attack them or something, rather then attacking you non-stop. And a lot of times, their attacks are really pathetic. Like say you're facing a giant ape the size of King Kong or something. He'll just stand there for a while, and then he'll try and hit you by punching the ground where you are standing. Why doesn't he try sweeping the ground instead of just punching one specific spot?
I realize there is no fix to this, as this would make these large enemies impossible to defeat, but it's kinda annoying how they kinda just linger around, and use methods of attacks that you can avoid, when really if something this huge was coming after you, they could easily attack you in a way you'd never be able to avoid.

XD Yeah, but Crazy Redd was pretty tough… That Luigi Trophy, man... it's over 9,000!!!!

I find it funny that everyone here keeps are saying that they want harder bosses in video games but if the bosses become too hard and actually show the intelligence of a human being, and then the game is pathetic to the game player.
Even though I not a big fan of online games, I believe that if you want to true boss fight. Go up against a human controlled character that can think of strategies just like you can. No artificial intelligence can mimic a human in anything yet. For example, I fought my brother in a Deus Ex LAN game and had to rely on all of my skills from the game to just win the match by two points.
If you guys really want to have bosses that are “difficult” then the gaming industry should allow employees or etc to actually play as the bosses in game. Then answer me if you guys still think that the game bosses are “too hard”

I'm not complaining they are too easy. Hard bosses can still be pretty repetitive.

True, because you can only spend so much money on getting a new controller. Even if it is a Nintendo controller.
On the otherside of the coin, Private Zulen, I have to be honest to you. When I first read what you did to my original quote in your signature space. I was not too happy because I thought you were making fun of me. Then after making a few comments, you're right, I'm a mean guy too people and I honestly like being mean. If it wasn't for the fact that I do not want to be banned from the forum, I would probably be more meaner/honest about the truth then Cap'n Carter is to people. So mainly thank you for making me smile in a week which I thought that my smile was going to never show up again.

Uhm… Uhh... wow...
scratches head
...You're welcome...?

I remember a couple of the most repetitive bosses ever. ANY boss in the Ape Escape Series, or any Sonic bosses for the GBA. Anyone agree?
-
@Lupus:
You are joking, right? I thought he was really crappy and easy to beat.
Well it might just be me then :P. Seriously that sucker just keeps spamming his 2 pillars move to infinity whenever I fight him!
Oh yeah- The final boss of Final Fantasy III for the NES…..unless ur at a really high level :P -

That shit is seizures inducing.

Jak 3's Final Boss to me in the 1st Part was fairly tough(Destroy purple nodes in legs with car) But what turned me off was durring the main fight, Erol literally turns the back of his Teraformer for you to shoot like he doesn't know can get shot.

Ah that is so brave Cap'n Carter, your putting a photo of your boyfriend and yourself up for show. You do know that this is the wrong thread for that. This photo belongs in the picture thread.
Plus I still think that Private Zulen is nothing more then a locust here on Arlong Park, with his spamming of time wasting messages. Though that is my opinion, well the locust thing and that he is probably foxykaizoku.

You're right, that was really annoying. The first part wasn't really hard, just extremely time-consuming.
