Paran, I don't see any arguing. Might I add this discussion came from a comment by Oda in this week's JUMP.
I'm getting tired of One piece chapters like this, I know oda does this to by himself time 4 better 1's, but man this was just boring…....
Well…the last time we had a chapter like this was back on Skypiea. I can't remember a chapter since then where we've had a long and tearful farewell.
Here's the thing, did Oda NEED a whole chapter for basically one scene?
No. He didn't. And he probably could have condensed it if he really wanted to.
That said, he did this for a reason and that was to tie a bow on the whole W7 community. Yes, we may still see a farewell but for all intensive purposes, this was our grand finale and...I liked it. It's pure Oda.
In the midst of everyone being bleary-eyed and Oda's chance for a striking final page, he has his new main character shoot his ass out at the entire populace of an island.
That's so him.
And not just W7, but ever since the Straw Hats came back down from Skypiea, the new crew member thing has been a huge issue. SURE we knew by this point it was 99% certain to be Franky but still, this was a great finale to that particular arc which has been going on for a friggin' long-ass time.
As I stated earlier, I don't think this chapter gets the kind of attention it deserves when reading it weekly. With SO MUCH set to happen we wanna move along with the story but how many of you can tell me eye-to-eye, you wouldn't enjoy reading this chapter in a tank where you can simply flip the page to the next chapter?
BTW, just realized something, but here we are yet again in the season of JUMP HELL where we find ourselves possibly weeks at a time w/o OP and here Oda is again at a transition point. Fans of OP for more than 2 years will recall that the whole landing from Skypiea and moving along thing transpired at almost exactly the same time, once again leaving us with wild speculation during JUMP's hiatus and not much else.
Oda......you bastard.

Yeah, it's a bloody great farewell for Franky; Oda's skill with the chapter justifies his desire to expand on it. Frankly, I've been extremely satisfied with what's transpired for the past five or so months…
...except the lawn-for-a-deck. Seriously, "wtf"? Really really weird/unpractical/destructive/outright silly (in a bad way).
I'm also annoyed that he invented a whole new brand of ship for OP; why couldn't he stick with historical ones? It's bad enough most of the East Blue ships can't even be sailed.

….Terek spoke my mind?
Have faith. He's gonna make it work in ways we can't imagine. Just think about how cool they made Merry and how much fun they had with it.
The chapters in between arcs are always great imo, they're a time to relax from all the fighting, and just watch the crew hang out. That said, these last two chapters weren't so great imo. For one thing, I didn't care to see franky's behind, and it kinda lasted a little too long. Like, he did it in two chapters, when he could have left it in one. That looks to me like fanservice, and the kind that isn't needed (if fanservice ever is).
And secondly, I didn't like how Robin abused Franky like that, it was a pretty nasty thing for her to do. I mean, I just never thought of Robin as that sort of person, and I kinda feel let down. Still it was funny how she said he was using the pain as an excuse for tears.

I agree with Greg, there might be more to do with this ship besides constantly finding ways to repair it. The ridiculus design of it, so what? At least it's not boring to look at. Weren't we all thinking of what the ship does? the cannon power, the speed, the 'Soldier Dock System', hell I found the lawn funny but in a way it will prevent landsickness, crap, they have orange trees for god's sakes and those need room to grow.
Okay, so the ship can do without the playground equipment.
But most is just my opinion.

My disagreement with your sentiments aside, I don't really get this. The new ship is a brigantine sloop. That's not something Oda came up with by any means, unusual designs aside.
Why, oh Why didn't Oda use the best idea ever:
What about your penis ship, Steve? xD?
Have they named the new ship yet? I wonder if it transforms.
@Mog:

A brigantine-sloop isn't a real ship type. "Brigantines" and "sloops" have contradictory features to them that indicate designation, so a "brigantine-sloop" is an amalgam of the two.
…meaning it's a fictional ship class.

Well, Merry was a slightly different case; it was a somewhat luxury caravel converted into a swashbuckling pirate ship. It wasn't much since it was only intended for a single person, but the Straw Hats made the most out of what little the had.
Now they've got, rather than a floating cabin, a floating apartment complex. Complete with a playground for all the little childers to play on…which strikes me as, well, strange, give how much the Straw Hats do on board the ship (sleep/eat/bother one another) and how much they don't do on the ship (almost all their adventures).
Beast King reminds me of a very tasty six layered vanilla wedding cake…with chocolate icing. Hopefully, Oda will wear away the icing with time and leave just the delicious cake for us to munch on.
Oh, the flavourful munching and crunchin~g.

Always remember, Luffy is a big kid and even though OP is "a man's story" Luffy will always get what he wants.
I can't imagine the abuse in store for poor Zoro and/or Sanji with the swingset.
Snow Cookie, your sig is the best.
Well, I guess Franky is offically a mugiwara. So at this point it's safe to assume we will not know what happened to Ace and Blackbeard until two more sagas where Luffy defeats a Government opponent, gets a new crewmember, and raises his bounty.
