Well that's a very optimistic point of view, but you don't live in America so you may not know how these things tend to go over here.
Fact is, every time you are ticketed by any government agency you have the right to appear in court and appeal the charge. Now most may pay the penalty and that is that, just creating a waste of time for the court secretaries, but some 10-20% would go to their court date and argue, knowing either that they are not guilty or that the ticketing officer will not show. Now if the ticketing officer doesn't show (Usually the case), this allows for a second court date in which which the ticketing officer is supposed to show up (more likely will show in this case, but still unusal). Now the offender will likely have wasted the court's time on two seperate occasions and get off scot-free. But who really cares right? As long as people who don't like being anywhere near smokers are happy, it's all worth it. You know, I don't like the smell of those big semis that I get stuck driving behind. Why don't we just go ban them from public roads while we're at it? I have the right not to be around those air polluting behemoths.
thats different… those things are needed within the economy...and it doesnt oppose as big of a threat than cigarettes...
well...the main reason why the government havent ban cigarettes yet is because the government get a lot of profit from its tax...
and the smell of cigarettes is way stronger than the semis...adding the fact that u can get the same disease as the smoker does if u breathe in the smoke...
