I've already read the manga to 436, so I only got the episode so I could see how they handled Kumadori. In the manga, he was one of my favourites because he was dysfunctional in a poetic way.
I was very disturbed. It felt like they changed the character by adding the stutter and repeat… he's not just emotionally disturbed, he felt like he had intelligence problems. As someone said more bluntly in a now-closed thread, he seemed to lack the correct edge of an assassin.
And conversely, I liked Jyabura for about 5 seconds... the combination of voice and that Hudson-like eyescar I never noticed in the manga, almost made him cool (well, until he plays the lame-o wolf card, and spends the second half of the episode laughing at Giraffe!Kaku)
And I was astounded as to how much extension there was. The whole Sogeking flatline bit and bee-attack. Sanji and Califa kettle action.
Don't take this wrong: I was impressed by ADC's performance, the quality was excellent and the subs reasonable (aside from the translation of the "100 years" thing corresponding to manga chapter 400, page 18, where Null did it better by going for a figurative translation), but I feel that Toei is trying to pull too much content out of too little canon. Maybe sacrelige, but perhaps we'd be better off with a well-thought-out filler arc or a few weeks of hiatus, rather than trying to stretch 15 minutes of content into 30.
As for the new intro, what's the deal? The older one (last episode I saw was 265) was spoilericious even for events past the current episode. What can we expect from an opening featuring Mihawk and a ship battle and a really annoying jingle (screams "CRAZY CRAZY RAINBOW" for no reason)
