Loop 101 Gina is the best. So many funny background reactions.
UNDEAD UNLUCK

The fact that they'll keep Chikara in school (which they hikacked to the point of having Ubreakable as headmaster) makes me thing Fuuko will try to enroll some other negators as students. By a mix of "we're still in the past so they're younger" and "they just got born earlier", the school could work as a secondary hub. Or maybe Nico will make magic glasses for Chikara and just let him be until he's needed.
-
So I guess Shen's pony tail touched Fuuko and he got pantsed. More than that and he probably would have been injured.
-
How long as it been since we saw an Uma? I feel like it's forever.
-
There hasn't been a UMA in the spotlight since the loop. The first quests were about finding negators or artifacts, the space monsters were aliens, the last 2 rounds which did include UMAs were offscreened.
Seems like Chikara will officially join next chapter despite Fuuko wanting to give him a normal life. Also Feng is no longer a child beater.
-
If you'd told me that you could take a series like this and carve off so many central plot elements but the remaining main character be so good and the other cast develop so well that one of the elements returning a year later would get a "Huh? Oh, yeah, I remember that" reaction, I don't think I'd believe you. A while back I actually even had a "Wait, who's Andy? OH, RIGHT!" moment when he was mentioned in the dialogue.
-
It's been quite the whirlwind.
-
Took me a while to realize what happened in the last panel. Feng broke through the ceiling to avoid being in the photo, while Ichico, Unbreakable, and Billy photobombed with the help of UMA Move.
Who's next? My bet is Rip and Latla.
-
Nah, gotta be Tatiana.
And adding the camera as a "weapon" for Chikara is a fun move.
-
Now that makes sense! Basically answered straight up the question I had about the risking of missing negators.
Also, with that new timeskip, I see that we will still be able to have Chikara be around the same age as Top and Haruka.
And just noticed that Billy's family is still alive in this loop.
-
The idea of timeskipping 16 years is really creepy, though the science team seems to take this lightly. Also you know Unbreakable will be on the verge of death and baby Haruka is now an adult.
I don't like Latla having future sight, it somehows breaks my inmersion despite being as simple as it existing because god said so via UMA. Anyways, this is the first time that the concept of being a fitting negator container is brought up. Feels like a retcon.
-
Not really a retcon IMO since the common theme of the negators is more or less negating something they want to do. If Rip never got obsessed/great in "repairing", he wouldn't have been targeted by Unrepair. Same with Latla and her Unpredictable.
BTW, 16 years is a mistake. It should be 15 since they spent more than a year after their first time warp.
Edit: the mistake was confirmed on their Twitter (16 should be 15)
-
Yes, they all have ironic powers that negate what they want to do, but I never felt like Chikara was the one person in the world who most wanted to move forward or Top deciding to lose on purpose made him the person who wanted to stop the most in the world. A lot of them were presented as normal people who got donde dirty by god. This in turn fits with having to find random people scattered throught he world as part of the game. Though, on the other hand the vessel thing explains why negators end up being mostly the same people every loop.
-
So, is Fuuko telling Rip to cut his own legs? And the concept of master rule UMA is introduced (or maybe just a translation change?)
-
Uma "Sick" is definitely an Uma I'd be afraid of.
-
I guess the author loves Rip, because he's the one character who didn't need a whole chapter to flesh out his past and how amazing he is. Really risky of Fuuko to trust Latla when she can awaken at any moment.
-
I still don't see how Unrepair will beat Uma Sick.
-
Uma Sick multiplied when Fuuko cut them in half (by regenerating both halves), Unrepair won't allow that and the parts will stay dead.
Also, new trailer:
-
Oh, I can't wait for Andy to come back.
-
Oh ow, this is gonna be almost as bad as Guts chopping off his arm.
-
I didn't think much of this chapter, but looking back on it, this is one of the most sensible reactions to joining the union until now. He took a whole day to have a normal life to process having to drop his profession, cutting his legs, and becoming a monster killer.

Declaration of War

Well, that explains a lot of things. And we finally get another UMA fight. The whole thing about telling Rip to cut his legs seems unnecesary now, but at least it's consistent with everyone getting a good ending (part of Rip's drama was about how he became more and more artifact infused with time).
-
So Magma was a Master Rule UMA and that's why it didn't disappear when Andy killed it.
The author seems to be aware of every potential plot holes and knows how to address them in the story.
-
This loop is so great
https://mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/viewer/1018880 -
This manga is reaching masterpiece level with this loop.
-
What's the power of those legs again?
-
The legs shoot blades and Rip could even use them to fly. We haven't seen many artifacts to really have a perspective of their powers.
First chapter of the anime was really good in general, with the obvious caveat that Andy felt like a rapist. Also those order union guys look really out of place in retrospect.
-
Is this series any good? And if so should I read the manga or watch the anime?
-
I'd say probably watch the anime. The mangaka, Yoshifumi Tozuka, is a newcomer and you can tell the art was a bit weird near the beginning. Also the early tone is different from the rest of the manga and the anime handled it a bit better even if it was completely faitful. On the other hand, it's nice to see the art evolution and compare his color pages. The anime so far is extremely well made, so there's that.
The strong points are the attention to detail and proper foreshadowing (or at least very careful rectonning). The story is always moving and generally fun.
The weakest point is the pacing which often feels rushed (and some events lack impact because of it), though I don't know how the anime will handle that. And even then, many of the weak points in the beginning are either adressed or even used to the benefit of the later parts. -
Just watched the first two episodes, I like it
Kind of weird they want to join an organization that hunts down people like them with special powers
I mean I’m sure there’s plenty of bad guys with powers but there’s got to be plenty of people like them who are just unfortunate saps who have some sort of power that there now gonna have to execute them for something that’s not there fault
-
I guess now we have to use spoiler tags for the manga.
Manga:
Anime: episode 2 marks the last instance of Andy acting like a rapist. I don't quite like that the whole city has been empty the whole time, though at least covid makes it possible to rationalize.
I like the opening song more than the ending, but I prefer the ending's visuals.

The latest arc continues to be amazing but I'm really excited about the rest of negators since we know next to nothing about most of them.
Regarding the anime, judging by the current pace, it will most likely end around the 53rd chapter. Chapter 68 would have been a perfect end point but it seems very unlikely with the current pace and "only" 24 episodes.
-
Yeah Chapter 53 makes the most sense. It's the end of an arc afterall. 56 would also be a good stopping point.
-
So much hype. This manga is so amazing. I can't wait for next chapter.
Sidenote regarding the anime : the animation of the Unchange fight was amazing. DP is doing a fantastic job with this adaptation. Hopefully it gets a 2nd season because the fights won't be covered in these 24 episodes.
